It's just a very odd place to randomly be.   There's nothing around there but farms, that Wal-Mart, a Best Buy that is the last to run out of hot ticket items, and formerly a hockey team.

Choose Your Own Adventure books?   If you've never read one, you should pick a few up on ebay.

For those of you not familiar with them, you read a few pages, then it offers you a choice.   Depending on the choice you make it'll send you to a different page in the book.   Does that several times, and then you'll reach an ending.

There's an actual wired joystick for 360.   I think it's 20 bucks or less; maybe give that a whirl?
