Haha, yeah, but shit... what are we talking about here?

The guy is not selling his soul advertising for Uber One or some e-sports betting site.

If you're going to take something you love and think is cool like playing Contra and try to do something literally no one has ever done before then you SHOULD try to make money off it. I definitely think it 100% can be BOTH pushing your gaming limit AND trying to make money. This guy SHOULD try to make money from it.

The fuck are we talking about here? He's literally creating his own job. No one is going to come and say "Hey, I'm going to sponsor you to play Contra for 60 hours"....

He's hustling HIMSELF to get paid.

Haha, fuck... I wish I could do it.

I have considered doing another Super C marathon, but not near set-up at all for it. If someone PAID me to do it, I'd gladly take the cash. 🙈

And Contra is a different animal because of the rising difficulty/lack of extra lives... keep up the hustle.

    Scrooge Mcduck Money GIF

We're just talking in circles here. All I am saying is if it wasn't a job I doubt he would play Contra 256 times in a row. That's all.

  2. Yeah no disrespect to TMR's gaming ability or his stream content. He's got major skills and I've even seen him dabble with music covers. I still think there is a difference between pushing your gaming limits and doing it while trying to make a living out of streaming - I feel like beating Contra 256 times falls more on the latter.

Hats off to anyone who 'makes it' in streaming though. It would take a ton of effort, persistence and skill with little to no payoff up front with no guarantees/securities unless you're one of the lucky ones that really breakout.

Folks like us are the perfect target. Not only do most of us own/would like to own the original (and know its value and impact) the retro collectors are far more likely to buy to be able to say they own both, or because of FOMO. Almost a guaranteed sale.

It has the exact opposite affect on me. The more these remakes and rehashed games come out the less I care about collecting and gaming honestly. The same could be said for movies and to a lesser extent music... Just feel like I've seen this stuff all before and doesn't do much for me. I have also been taking advantage of the hype to sell my collection... I could see my Mario RPG CIB going up for sale sooner rather than later with this announcement and it was a game I planned on keeping indefinitely.

The environments look nice but I think I prefer the style of the old character models.

I was kinda thinking about that after the fact too... not sure this game really needed a remake being an RPG and still holding up well.

  5. One thing that I feel should have been improved is the combat. The trigger times just don't activate from time to time, or worse, you get clipped while actively dodging an attack. I also find it tough to judge when some enemies do certain attacks as you hit them and next thing you know half your hearts are gone from a headbutt or some subtle melee attack. I actually find a lot of the bigger enemies easier for this reason. The camera can also be a little frustrating in close combat, especially with the red-hands when they grab you and the camera doesn't reset properly. A small complaint but something I felt could have been optimized a little bit from Botw. Overall still really liking the game. Could probably beat it whenever at this point.

We were joking about that today.

At least drop 170$ on an xbox elite or something. The cabin light was from camping world lol

He sprang for the joy-stick extensions though.

To your previous quote, yeah he probably did live an extremely privileged life, but that to me is the irony... He was 19 and had life made in the shade (at least financially) and this is how he dies at such a young age. Tragic.

I bet those who have made a round trip on this craft are counting their blessings tonight.

I find it interesting that short vowels can all sound similar at times. Quick example off the top of my head, try to pronounce the U in "injure" as a short E or I, there is very little difference and often wouldn't be noticeable at all if you heard somebody else do this. Even an O (as in "major") sounds pretty much the same. Maybe this isn't so in Canoodian talk but as someone who grew up in NJ (and doesn't have a "Jersey accent") that's how I am.

Canadian, Cunadee-en, Kinadee-in, Kenadian, all sound the same as I would say them.

Begel is straight up wrong, though 😂 Bagel has a long A.

That's why I have a hard time spelling words when there are a lot of vowels involved, especially E and I as they're almost interchangeable. It is funny how there's little pockets or regions that have distinct accents or slang.

  8. Gay.. same goes for Mario with a hard A. I say it "incorrectly" but it's just regional accent from the Northeast US/Canada.

I use to get flack from my American friends online even though y'all say 'sarry' instead of sorry and pronounce a lot of words that have A as a first vowel with an E sound (ex 'begel' instead of 'bagel')

Maybe more of an East/west thing after reading gloves replies, I dunno. Nobody I knew pronounced it guyden when I grew up but it's not like it was a common word/phrase.

I beat the game like last week. Only did like  less than 20 shrines. I used the duplication glitch to make lots of hearty large truffles and when you cook 5 together you get full life plus 20 yellow hearts.

Also duplicated a bunch of diamonds to sell and bought all the arrows in town whenever I went to town.

I duped large zonai charges so I could max out the gumball machines and large zonaite so I could buy large crystallized zonai charges.

I know I’m a cheater. But at least I’m honest. Even cheating, this game was pretty hard and Ganondorf was especially hard

Not gonna lie.. I actually miss the duplication glitch, especially for rupees but fuse definitely helps mitigate the need for some particular items.

I kinda did what you did but in botw... B lined it to every beast after the plateau then got nuked several times at Gannon until I got a few cooking recipes to help out. I beat the game in less than a week I wanna say (very underpowered) and here I am over a month later and probably not even halfway through totk.

  10. It will be for me but BotW kinda did that to itself regardless of Totk. I just found going through Botw the 2nd time really tough to keep my attention as the 'awe' and 'charm' of the game had worn off from my initial play-through. I'm really enjoying Totk but I am taking it much slower than Botw as I know I'll likely only give it one really solid attempt. These games are just too big to go back to time and again like some of the older entries. I am starting to find Totk a little tedious for the main story but with the new features and spacing out my playtime I am still really enjoying and look forward to playing. The game design with the new crafting and puzzle solving really is incredible at times.

  11. Funny this thread just popped up... I was just evacuated for 12 days from my house due to a wild fire and that shit started one street over from me. I live in a sprawling, heavily wooded suburb area and someone was burning (when there was a fire ban on) and it got out of control - Over 150 homes lost. I had just got up from after a nightshift and it was about 3pm. I let my dog out and see a bit of smoke over the horizon and just assume some dumbass is having a small fire. Next thing I know, big, black, billows of smoke are just over the tree line so I grabbed my cat and dog and got out of there. Due to the very poor design of our area there are only two streets out that are really close together to get out onto the main road. Even in the short time I collected our pets up (wife was at work), both sides of the street were on fire getting out of there.

After almost two weeks I was able to return home and assure that my house/collection was undamaged. The wind, although bad for the overall fire, saved our house due to the direction. Here is a picture of the burn area with my house in blue on the far left. The red X is where the fire started and the orange lines are the two streets out. It really was surreal... you see this shit on TV and never expect it to happen to you, particularly in a marine climate at the end of May! Needless to say, if my house was lost, so was my collection and I doubt I would have got much, if anything, from insurance.

Ok, winning me over again haha.

Also to me, Tornado of Souls has the greatest metal solo of all time.  The solos on that record when I first heard them blew my fucking mind.  Love Marty, even if he alters the Tornado solo live and it isn't as cool as on the record :).

One of the songs that really got me into guitar.. the 'sweepy-type' passage right before he goes into the sequencing caught my ear and I probably rewound the tape 100 times in a row. I just hadn't heard stuff quite like that in a metal song before. This was also one of the major events to lead me to all that virtuoso shred stuff as I looked more into Marty and fell upon Cacophony and then the rest was history. I also agree, that it's likely the best metal solo of all time although the song itself doesn't do much for me anymore.

@Reed Rothchild Holy Wars would likely be my favourite Megadeth song as well. I just saw them in concert last week as they did a quick tour across Canada. Was a great show even though you can barely tell Dave is singing anymore. They played Mecanix and The Conjuring, a few I haven't heard live before. Also, a great shout-out with Washington is Next... definitely a great overlooked song from them.

  13. I had trouble getting in to both of these because I never played them the first time around. Funny that this and GTA:SA are back to back as they are likely my wife's two favorite games and she typically hates FPS type of stuff. I haven't played this enough to give it a rating but I don't really see myself giving it a proper go at this point.

  14. Weird one for me because I was the same being burnt out on the series by playing the original quite a bit and then absolutely killing GTA 3 (100% beat into the ground) and then to a lesser extent Vice City. Once SA came around I was kinda done. Funny enough, my wife, who rarely games, got really into this for some odd reason down the road on PC. It's one of the very few games that we'll take turns playing and actually enjoy. When she was playing it I went back through it with her a few times. The swimming definitely made a huge improvement to Vice City even though VC will always have the best aesthetic, music, and atmosphere as one who loves the 80s. Easy 8/10 for me.

Great sky isle felt like much of a chore to me. It was very satisfying to finally leave it for hyrule. Now that I have the paraglider, I remember much about why I managed to put over 300 hours into BotW.

Agreed, it was a little long and getting used to the new mechanics and stuff was starting to feel like a drag by the end of it. Probably a good thing in the long run to tackle that stuff early on and encourage crafting but once you clear the island and jump below that is when I truly felt that feeling like Botw where I could go and do whatever I want. They did a better job of masking it in the first one with the plateau.

I have been off and on with the game for the last week or so because of other responsibilities but I am loving this game so far. I really look forward to playing it (which is rare for any game these days) and often have trouble putting it down when in a good session. I'd say I am just about 1/2 through the main quest and am just finally starting to feel powerful enough to take on some decent fights. I also look forward to the shrines more in this game compared to this point in botw where they were starting to feel like a chore.

I've really been focusing more on fuse and recipes as well, as I think they give much more potential in this game when you're still somewhat under-powered. I also just figured out you can rocket-shield when you're gliding as well which is really fun.

In my opinion THPS2 was the breakthrough game. So while both were built on a previous construct, I would say TotK wouldn't and shouldn't be expected to have the buzz about a very fresh take on genre like what was going on with the Tony Hawk series.

I don't know about that... Tony Hawk 1 was absolutely huge from my memory. THPS2 did come out within a year of the first one though, so it was quickly 'replaced'.

  17. I kinda feel like this is the Tony Hawk 2 of new Zelda... just kinda of expanded on the same game, looks a bit better, handles a bit better, and the new ideas are enough to keep it fresh. It's definitely built on the Botw foundation but there's more than enough there from what I see for a new game/experience. I feel like the abilities alone add a whole new dynamic and work better together than the previous entry.

  18. Absolutely loving this game so far. I beat the intro section and when u get to the main world you get that feeling all over again like when walking out of the cave in botw.

The crafting is hilarious (a little tedious and could be frustrating for some). This part worried me the most but so far it's really fun.

I agree, the game could be a little much if u haven't played botw but if u have it's easy to get in to.

Wth all the stuff u can do even without touching the story, this game is gonna take a while. Crafting and fuse add a lot to the game so far.
