  1. So this is nothing new to the hobby, there have always been people buying multiples of items.  Either due to thinking the item is currently undervalued, due to them just loving a franchise (1000 copies of Dragon Warrior anyone?) or even as just an experiment (Rampart on GB that got publicized).

But lately, with all of the new comic blood pouring in, I've noticed they are doing the same too. Apparently #multiplecomicmonday is a thing, and they hype up Mario 3 to be their Hulk 181 which is apparently a high demand but high supply yet still valuable item.

Have you all noticed this or what's your thoughts?  I understand variant collecting (multiples of a same game, different versions) and also understand people who might own an extra (one CIB / one Sealed) or maybe 2 (2-3 sealed copies of a real favorite) but anything beyond that and I just can't relate.  I'd rather free up that money and buy other items I don't already own.

But yes, I have some buyers who just want anything of XXXX title no matter how many they already own.  I'll happily sell it to them when they pay well but it's definitely manipulating the market on high end stuff with only few copies in supply.

I been drinking the MM2 koolaid since I was a kid.  Tough to beat the best.

I have no kid nostalgia for Mega Mans... didn't experience them until an adult.  But I really find MM2 and MM3 interchangable to me without the nostalgia.  MM2 had better weapons (Metal Blades overpowered though), but both had great music and MM3 added the slide.

Not a game I would spend a ton of time playing today unfortunately, but nothing will top it as my all time fave.

Made shooters mainstream on consoles, tons of replayability for unlockable cheats and incredible amounts of multiplayer fun.

Also came out of nowhere! Wasn't hyped at release, just came out.  Movie games were notoriously bad up to that point.  Yet this unhyped movie game comes out and people instantly start recognizing it. Still remember buying it from Walmart on a whim near release thinking it would be fun when I was in between N64 titles.  Little did I know it would be something I would identify with my entire lifetime.

  4. Was browsing my flickr and ran into these photos.  A unique restoration!

For those who don't know, this is an official lighted sign that was only made in Belguim I believe.  So you need a transformer to run it on a USA outlet.  Seller packed it extremely well but unfortunately I heard rattling and it wouldn't power on when receiving.  I was scared to open it up, but when I did, I saw it was only a simple bulb.  Did some googling and found a replacement at Lowe's for about $5 I believe.

New bulb and voila, works like new!

The most surprising thing to me is the choice of games (from a cost to produce perspective).

Both were staples of the 16 bit era, but how can they afford the licensing for A list Disney properties?

Granted, I know nothing of how the process works to gain a license to things like this, but I’d have to imagine the cost to license something like The Lion King or Aladdin would be astronomical compared to like 99% of the Genesis or SNES library, no?

You would think so, but if they are trying to time it from a demand perspective, there is no better time than in a year when Lion King and Aladdin were both remade.  They're trying to appeal to the casual Disney fan here more than the retrogamer who knows these games are dirt cheap.

  6. I only collect some PS1 stuff.   I had a full longbox set (102 games IIRC) CIB but then trimmed to just my favorites, about a dozen or so.  Still have around 200-250 PS1 CIBs and casually collect it going forward.

Twisted Metal 2 is one of my top 5 favorite games all time, regardless of platform.  And this is coming from a NES -> Gen -> N64 kid!

Great guide. This was my attempt at recreating the Latest Topics page many people are used to:

    https://www.videogamesage.com/discover/14/

This will not list blogs, club posts, reviews, or any of that stuff though. Just simply latest topics, and will be moved to the top of the list on a new reply. Click the bubble icon on the far right of a topic on the list to go to the latest post(s). Clicking the topic name will start you off at the first post.

The Activity Stream is very advanced. Once you make a custom stream, you can copy and paste the link and other people can use it as well.

This is extremely helpful, thanks a lot!

  8. NES Is most nostalgic, but if you could only collect one and care about playing the games, SNES is better value.  With my kids (3 and 5) the early NES stuff doesn't grab them.  They like the bigger / flashier sprites and SNES is king there.

In terms of games, I can't think of any genre NES did better than SNES?  SNES is at least equal in everything and dominates beat-em-ups / RPGs and even adds a genre of fighters that are essentially non-existent on NES.

Video games and music 24 hours a day for 3 days. The marketplace sucks, the arcade is alright, the music is awesome! And NES homebrew guys show up so you can probably play some Commie Killer.

I'd be there for marketplace so totally not my thing. Thanks for heads up 👍
