  1. Good luck with the plan, Splain. I really hope you can do it. For now, Chase HQ is done. While there really aren't enough differences between this and Super Chase HQ to make owning both worthwhile, Super is definitely an improvement. This game relies on cheap hits from civilian cars a bit too much. I had the ZX Spectrum version as a kid, and that managed to fit a decent version of the game into 48kb of memory, so the GB version should be better than it is. Anyway, I am going to try to play some longer titles now.
  2. Shanghai is done. I like mahjong solitaire games, but hadn't tried the GB version before.
  3. Super Chase HQ is done. They fixed the awful control scheme from the original game but otherwise it really wouldn't have been worth owning both versions unless you were mad about the arcade game.
  4. Power Racer has been beaten. Not much to say about this. It's a classic arcade game, but also really frustrating.
  5. Trax is done. I haven't played this before, and it isn't exactly a challenge - at least not until the final boss. Still, it is quite an enjoyable game. I'm just glad I didn't buy such a short game back in the day. Next up I am trying Power Racer, but that's really a test of my patience.
  6. Apologies for the consecutive posts. I decided to try a few arcade games. Battlezone/Super Breakout is done, as is Pinball Dreams.
  7. V-Rally is done. It's one of the best racing games on the Gameboy in my opinion. The graphics are good, the sound effects are ok and there are a variety of track surfaces and even weather effects. It isn't the most difficult game, though, and focusing on careful driving rather than pure speed will win most races. I only dropped four points out of a possible 100.
  8. StarHawk is beaten. It's a pretty good horizontal shooter that's probably on par with Solar Striker difficulty-wise. You do get continues, but using one normally reverts to the basic ship, and that isn't powerful enough to destroy even basic enemies on the later levels. The bosses are interesting, though. Only one part of them is vulnerable at any time, but as you destroy a part of the boss they become less powerful. So they are most dangerous at the start of an encounter as they have all of their weapons. Overall, this was a fun enough game that I will definitely return to it at some point.
  9. Barbie is also done. After finding a pair of shoes, hallucinating an underwater adventure and then buying a dress while being attacked by coat hangers, Barbie was finally ready for her date. The underwater bits actually play better than The Little Mermaid, though, so it isn't all bad. Now to try my hand at StarHawk.
  10. Felix the Cat is done. I have never actually played this before, so was pleasantly surprised by the gameplay. It's very short, but enjoyable while it lasts. I couldn't get to my phone in time to catch the brief cut scene, so got the below marvel to show for my efforts.
  11. Nintendo World Cup is done. I've said it before, but the password system in this game is one of the most annoying I've ever encountered. The password will take you to the start of the match you won in order to get the password, which is stupid. Anyway, it's not a bad game, but not exactly an accurate representation of football/soccer.
  12. Maybe keep the 5 points for unbeaten PAL games, but once they have been beaten they just get the .5 points per year they have not been beaten since inclusion? You'll need some form of incentive to make Populous worth playing.
  13. Wheel of Fortune is done. I didn't catch the end screen properly, but managed to take a blurry snap of my prize. Glad this one is out of the way, it's a horrible game.
  14. I beat Alleyway as part of my annual play through. I also beat Space Invaders and Dropzone (assuming the PAL games are included again this year).
  15. Well, it's not an unbeaten title, but Fortified Zone is done. This is actually one of my favourite gameboy games, behind only Alleyway and Solar Striker, so I was happy to play through it again.
  16. It was... ok. The sense of speed is pretty good, and the racing is pretty enjoyable, but the game seems to be lacking something. It's very short, and there's little difference between the various brand of component you can fit in your car. So unless you're interested in street racing and have some sort of brand loyalty it won't have much meaning. If you can get it cheap there is a fun game there, it just won't last long.
  17. Ok, due to a lack of skill on my part, this will be taking longer than I thought...
  18. Did you do Barrack Fu, too? That game is ridiculous but equally fun.
  19. I'm trying to beat Road Rash at the moment. I've got 7 races to go, but it's starting to get difficult. Should get time to do the rest over the weekend.
  20. Ecco Jr. Is done I won't say "beaten" as there was no challenge here. The game basically consists of a set of fetch quests and a few games of tag. That's it. No air meter or health to worry about. That said, this would gave been a great way for kids to enjoy the Ecco concept without being crushed by the main games' difficulty. Apologies for the poor quality screen shots. I played this on my PSP, using the Megadrive collection. My camera didn't seem to want to focus properly.
  21. I beat Outrun on default settings (Normal difficulty) today. And yes, the easiest route was the one I struggled most with for some reason...
  22. Looks like I just beat you to Dropzone, sorry I'll try to remember to bold the games I beat so it's more obvious. That'll probably make Splain's life easier, too.
  23. Awesome work with the Star Wars games. Are they as tough as the NES version of Star Wars? I have beaten Barbie: Game Girl this evening, taking one for the team. In an effort to at least regain some pride, I also managed to beat Dropzone!
  24. Super Street: Racer is done. What does completion get you? Nothing.
  25. Yeah, it's a rubbish game. The final round always seems so obscure compared to everything else. I was particularly thrilled when the category was "person" and the answer was something like "primary school teacher."
