How to I add pictures to my post? the "old way" now does not work

Hey all. I used to be able to add pics in my post, like this

[url=https://... .png[/img][/url]

Now, it does not work. 

I tried a hotlink

<a href='https://... .png' ...></a>

That does not work either. So, how is it done? I know we can add pictures by choosing them at the bottom of the post, but as far as I know that just posts the pics at the end of the post which is not what I want.

You can just use the url and VGS will embed the image now.  HTML or BBcode won't work.  @Gloves mentioned it in the Site Maintenance thread a couple weeks ago.
