Shipping insurance over $1k- how do u all do it?

My local fedex only insures up to $1,000 even if declared value is higher.  Said they could do higher if I had business account which I don’t have.  
 

what do you all do?

Either sign up for a business account or ship USPS - their insurance limit is $5k according to the site.

I generally go with USPS since for highly valuable items they offer certified mail where things require signature with ID and are transferred from safe-to-safe so the risk of outright loss is extremely low.  (It is how gold coins are generally mailed)

That's how I shipped all of my high end stuff. The tracking info is really detailed and since it goes in a safe at every stop, that was always my best option.
