If you've never played it, I highly recommend that you do especially if you're a Contra fan. It's currently 50% off, so you can get it for less than the price of a happy meal. It's too bad no physical release has been announced - if one is gonna happen it'll probably be LRG picking it up for preorder some time by the end of the year or even next year, plus their typical 6-12 month shipping wait period.
