  1. Nice list! I had no idea there was any song on the NES that was 9 minutes. I need to give that Dragon Warrior IV track a listen sometime.

Three games that I think should have had inclusions are Blue Marlin, Nintendo World Cup, and Ufouria. Blue Marlin especially has a really underrated OST. It sounds just like summer.

  2. Spyro: Year of the Dragon is my favorite game ever. I played it a ton when I was a kid and it's one that I can still go back to and have a blast playing. While all three of the original Spyro games are fantastic, they just got everything right with three. The gameplay, the new playable characters, the story, the level design, the music, the minigames, everything was pretty much perfected here. And since 3D platformers are my favorite genre of game, it makes sense that the best 3D platformer ever would be my top pick for best game ever.

  3. Both games are absurdly overhyped imo. Maybe it's just because I grew up with Spyro, but I just don't see why anyone would play Mario 64 when there are such better platformers on other systems. And as for Zelda, I'd rather just play the original or Link to the Past (or Link Between Worlds, which is my favorite Zelda!).

  4. I got some more stuff today. I returned my broken copy of RBI Baseball and got $6 off what I purchased at that store. AND they were also having a 10% off deal. So, I actually saved a decent bit of money there. What was also pretty cool was that they had a copy of Conan there. It's not a good game, but it's a pretty rare one. And I got it for $37.50, which I think is a pretty decent price. It certainly beats eBay prices. I got some other okay stuff, but I'm just happy that I finally own an NES game that's rare. What do you think, sirs?

  5.  I've got some new video game things recently.20210728_072045.jpg.6670dc66a6d14fcece61786e9056eae9.jpg

Now I'm sure that all of you are very impressed with my Bases Loaded purchase. You can pick your jaw up from off the floor now. Okay, in all seriousness, I've avoided Bases Loaded for the longest time because I see that game everywhere and I didn't see any need to buy it immediately. However, this time the game was only a dollar. So, I figured now I would bite. Not pictured here is the broken copy of RBI Baseball I got that will sadly have to go back to the store. But other than that, there's a couple cool games here. Surprisingly enough, Carmen Sandiego was actually the game I enjoyed the most out of this lot.

  6. Oh wait, I actually have one more game that I can open for codes. That bizarre copy of Blaster Master that I have. I guess someone must have switched the back of that game with a Canadian game printed in either 1987 or 1988. Since those use flathead screws, that means I can actually open it. This is also the latest printed game that I can open up right now. Printed in early 1989.

Okay, NOW I'm done. I'll get the other screwdriver bit at some point, but I want to take a break from this. I can't wait to see the database be completed!

  7. Alright, I got a couple more codes to share here. Any idea on how to decipher these?

I'm also still not sure how to read the codes for Double Dribble. So, if anyone could help with that, I would really appreciate it.

And, that's all I got! Obviously, I have more cartridges to open up. However, without the proper screwdriver bit, those are gonna have to wait. But still, I was able to find codes in a pretty sizeable chunk of my collection. So, I hope that my contributions are helpful to you.

Here is the complete spreadsheet if you want to take a look.

I think I got all of them correct, but let me know if there are any mistakes with my code interpretations.

  8. I found some other interesting date codes. This first one is from a copy of Soccer.20210723_045754.jpg.795d4cdbbfdb1ceda9addf7332d235bc.jpg

And this one is a copy of Duck Hunt.20210723_052545.jpg.06596eae4c2209b567392062ad5d7405.jpg

They both seem to follow a three digit format, where the letter represents a month. However, M would be month 13, which doesn't exist since there's only twelve months. So, I'm not exactly sure how to read these codes. Also, I have another copy of Soccer that was printed in 1985. So, that might help with finding the game's release date if that still hasn't been determined yet.

  9. My date codes

I started a spreadsheet of all my date codes. It only has a few cartridges for now, but I'll add the rest of the ones I have later. I've noticed while looking through my collection that some of my 1988 games still use flathead screws, even though they're 3 screw games and most 3 screw games use different protective screws. Must have been a transitional period. I'm sure this has already been documented before, but I never noticed this until now and I just thought it was really interesting.

Also, I found some codes that I'm having a bit of trouble deciphering. These are in my 3 screw copy of Double Dribble.20210721_042722.jpg.01567ae40d8ce9f993c296993f821383.jpg

  10. Date codes for my broken copy of RBI Baseball

    PRG - 8816, CHR - 8817

I might open more of my games up later and share the date codes for those. I want to make a spreadsheet of them just to have as an immediate reference. And also because spreadsheets are generally nicer to look at than a forum thread. I'm also like 99.9% sure that I have an addiction to making spreadsheets.
