For me, I find the early NES games (1985-1987) and the later NES games (1992-1994) to be the most interesting. Everything else in between kinda blends in for me, even though there's still a lot of great games from the middle era.

This game is a classic for a reason. Yeah, it's pretty easy, but the technical achievements this game pulls off are astounding. Amazing graphics, catchy music, and a really solid platformer that introduced Kirby's most famous ability, the copy ability. It's still my favorite NES game.

It feels like I say this every year, but this time I'm really gonna try to participate more. Hoping that school doesn't bog me down too much this year.

Nice! Mappy Land is super fun. I'm still looking for that one myself.

1. Kirby's Adventure
2. Gun-Nac
3. Super Mario Bros.
4. Gyruss
5. Fire 'n Ice
6. Super Mario Bros. 3
7. Super Mario Bros. 2
8. Rolling Thunder
9. Klax
10. Tetris
Kind of a really lame list. There's a lot of other great games that I want to include, but I guess this will do for now. These are all still games that I love, but I may change this list in the future.

I'm just looking for a special someone to play Chiller with this Halloween. It has two player simultaneous action, after all...

Very cool stuff! I would've liked to see what Crossbow was like on the NES, considering it got a decent port to the 7800.

This is probably just a me thing, but every copy of Soccer I've seen for NES has been in piss poor condition. I had to buy two copies of it, and neither one of them look good. Probably just a coincidence, but it's still weird that it happened twice.

That would certainly make the N64 easy to get a complete set for.

Probably gonna watch some more MST3K this Halloween. I watched any episodes in a long time, and it will hopefully get me in the mood for the upcoming Turkey Day. I have a list of horror and monster themed episodes that I want to check out.
I don't really play horror games, but maybe this could be the year where I fully play one for the first time. I'm not entirely sure which one to start with though. Oh, and I should probably try to beat Splatterhouse again this year. So many things to do in so little time. At least the candy is a guarantee.

During middle school, I would spend every bus ride home listening to C64 music. I still see a lot of tunes for that platform as being just as good as "real music". Rob Hubbard and Jeroen Tel are two of my favorite composers on there. Rob Hubbard had a lot of classical sounding pieces and used all kinds of crazy effects and changing time signatures. Honestly, listening to this work probably helped me learn a lot about how to compose. And Jeroen Tel is great just for how much funk is in his songs. Thomas Detert also deserves a mention, as he made the 32 minute long theme for Gordian Tomb. And for a while, I considered that to be my favorite piece of video game music ever. I haven't listened to it in a long time though.

I honestly had never even heard of star codes until probably this year. I've actually learned a lot about different variants ever since coming here. I don't seek out manuals with star codes, but it is pretty cool to find them. It's also really cool to go back through your collection and notice that you actually have at least one of them. Or in the case of my BurgerTime manual, bought one without even knowing it was a star code version. It makes them feel just that extra bit special.

My goal is a complete NES set, although I've also kinda accepted that I'll never have one. I just mainly just pick up whatever games I find that seem interesting or are ones that I know are rare. For smaller sets, I want to get a complete set of black box games and every Namco NES game. While these have a couple rare games, they're much more reasonable than a full set.
Other than that, I don't bother with complete sets. I just get only the games I want for other consoles.

Yes, I was talking about value in the metaphorical sense, not monetary value. I 100% support the preservation of stuff like this, and to see people willingly say they won't do that breaks my heart.

Then it has no value.

It's probably too late for me to make a list for this challenge. I wasn't planning on participating in the first place. But since I'm taking a break from collecting, I think now would be a good time to actually play what I got. So, screw it! I'm making a list anyway! Here's 20 NES games from my collection that I want to beat this year.
Adventure Island
Air Fortress
Bionic Commando
Captain Skyhawk
Castlevania
Contra
Crystalis
Double Dragon 2: The Revenge
Dragon Spirit: The New Legend
Dragon Warrior
Guardian Legend
Mega Man 3
Ninja Gaiden
Punch-Out!!
Rolling Thunder
Shadowgate
Snake Rattle 'n' Roll
Star Soldier
Super Mario Bros. 3
Wizards and Warriors
And as a bonus, I also want to beat Spyro: Year of the Dragon during the summer. I've surprisingly never finished it, despite it being my favorite game of all time. Hopefully school won't kick my ass this year.
