Sounds neat. How did it work back in the day? It feels like adding too many rules makes it less fun, but also I'd be afraid of doing it "wrong" or something, and disappointing somebody. Common with mystery box auctions is a declaration of the GVN or VGPC value of the contents. Maybe each recipient can trade out as much stuff as they want, as long as they maintain a baseline GVN value? Or maybe average value per item or something.
I can definitely contribute some seed items if needed.
I agree with you on both points! Just enough guidelines to keep the box moving and fair.

I took yours as a serious question. Nothing wrong with a legit question. I am known to get a bit offended though
With a name like that I would understand why you get offended lol

Another option is posting in others feed back threads to help with legitimacy here on the new site. Maybe post on the others feedback once they get it to you. I’m just posting suggestions as I come up with them for later.

Placeholder for now until I have/make some transactions!

Just an FYI for everyone interested in this. I will create a whole separate thread when we work out all details and rules. The more people I have interested the faster we can get this train rolling on.
another suggestion that I love that someone mentioned before is have a list in the box. You would put your name or screen name from here on the list. You would list what you took and list what you added. Just food for thought honestly.
thank you all for the responses so far. Makes me want to fall in love with this again.

We traded on NA a few times I believe. Your welcome to climb on board.

For the inaugural box, we could all send donations to Mae to get it going. Seems only fair to share the burden of funding a large flat rate box.
I’m completely fine with this kind of way to start off. I don’t want anyone to think I’m trying to take advantage. Only reason I didn’t mention this.

I still need Kid Klown. What are you interested in?
Shoot me a pm. We can go from there so I don’t junk up your thread.

I agree with being fair, however, if it's a circular series of mail-offs, you don't have to worry about giving up stuff and never getting it, plus after it's passed through 10-20 hands, you have noe clue what you will end up with.
If you want to manage this, it's up to you, but my vote would be that you can seed the giving and enjoy what you end up with. It will likely, definitely be a mystery.
I’m fine with maintaining it on my own. Just doing what I know worked before. To begin with I may do as mentioned previously and have a smaller group so we are able to work out the kinks.

I would definitely be interested, if we have some clear rules set in place and agreed, and a list of trustworthy members, sure! We can maybe do a test run with a smaller group at first? Many different ways to try it out, and we could create a club to track it.
Agreed!

Edit: formerly daneNES 100% positive NA feedback and my eBay feedback is also flawless
Traded with you before! Your solid man!

Count me in. You might want add a caveat that you have to have a feedback thread with positive feedback, which means we may want to wait a few more months for people to establish themselves. I mention the feedback because all it takes is one person...
Anyway, this does sound fun though. It's like the game of telephone buy you swap out games instead of words!
I'd also recommend that we lock down the list, maybe, and then the last person sends the box back to the person that started the whole thing. That way everyone gets a chance to both give and receive, including OP.
Agreed, more details to come and rules of course. Would like more than myself as moderator so no one thinks I’m being unfair.

Let me know if my understanding is incorrect.
So the first person would pack some stuff in a box, maybe even include a piece of paper with a signature, and send it off the someone else (how do we determine who is next?). Then the next person gets to keep the stuff in the box (perhaps minus stuff they don't want/need) and then they add to the box so it keeps roughly the same value or at least keeps the spirit of being a nice gift/surprise, and pass it along to the next person. Rinse, repeat. Right?
You sir are correct! Maybe not take the whole contents, but take what they like. Also the order would be At random. I would put your names into a random generator for fairness. I would start the box off of course.

I am interested for sure. If I got the box, would I get to keep some of the items and replace with items I have, just as long as the box gets filled with gaming goodness? If that’s the case, I’d love to give and receive mystery items. Could be a lot of fun. I feel you’d have to have a number of people commit first though. Like maybe 1 person per month?
You are correct in your assumptions. And it would be a weekly thing. Someone gets it, they have 4-6 days to give and take and send to next person.

The offer is appreciated! Honestly as it stands the best possible thing any user could do is simply be active, contribute regularly, and just be good to each other! Tell your friends! Maybe participate in the contests and events, write some guides or game reviews. Keep active and stay cool, and we all benefit!
Will definitely do so. Just started a thread on a traveling box that only costs the shipper for the flat rate box it comes in. We will see if anyone is interested.

I run my website for my business and am willing to at least donate my time to help out here. I love the feel here and would love to contribute any way I can!

I can start the box off with many random NES games of course!
-
I was part of something like this on the previous forums back in 2010-2011. Basically it’s random bits of games, accessories, promo materials, magazines, game art, etc for many systems. As much as we could fit in a usps large flat rate box.
if anyone is interested please chime in here and we can go from there.
the only charge to anyone is the low price of the flat rate box.
It fizzled our on NA because people just lost interest but honestly it was really fun to see what others got and where the box went.

Anyone else want to join me with doing a box that goes round to everyone?

I kinda mentioned this before but it was on paper. I like the fact of doing both. I would determine the order of where it is sent randomly to keep things random. I want this box to be a staple here honestly if everyone allows it.
