Hi everyone! Long time no chat!
Do I recall correctly that back in the NA days there was a user named Richter Belmont?
Does anyone have his real name or contact info?
Much appreciated! Stay well!

This isn't official, but it's the best one I've seen.
it would have never looked like that in the day though. That's a 2010 look on what would have been early 90s product

Being that I loved FFA and FFL way back in the day, I bought all four of the Sunsoft re-issues when they came out and kept them sealed. I unloaded them years ago and I wish I hadn't. It's probably one of my biggest regrets of personal sales in the past.
Anyway. I have a graded Squaresoft FFA. I'm not sure if much has changed in the past 6 months, but generally, the Squaresoft stuff hasn't picked up more value than the Sunsoft label. I'm quite surprised because once SMB sold at Heritage for a ridiculous price for the first edition, all first editions seemed to pick up in price, even if there was no rational reason for it. Still, with this set of games, the Squaresoft stuff doesn't get as noticed as much.
that's just it, it makes no sense and they haven't moved up in price, so why on earth would anyone sell a Square copy.
Maybe things will change. 2k gb tetris sales and all. We will see.

About FFL.. I only recently realized that my copy is actually a reissue, rereleased by Sunsoft in 1998. I have yet to see a sealed Square-published copy. If anyone has one or knows where to get one, I'd love to know!
The Square ones are rare but under appreciated (so far?).
I have a set of the FF Square GB games so you can always shoot me an offer if you want but fair warning I see them as really undervalued.

I think its just me getting my mind around it because I was gone for so long. Its only been a month catching up on everything so I just need to get used to the way things are nowadays. The shock factor is still there on some of these.
Shock factor is still here for those of us that never left! Hehe

As someone who owned this item in the past, I would bet a lot that this never dropping to $1000 again. It's legit rare and should always be at or above Pokemon Box pricing as a comparable. When I had one I spoke to multiple Gamecube collectors who needed it for their set, yet everyone drug their feet on pricing because there were "no sales to go off of". I sold it under $1k but most people I spoke to thought it was closer to $500 at the time.
I can't say whether or not the current price level is legit without shills, but I would have expected at least $1500-$2k before bidding even started.
That’s really not the point I was making - I don’t really know or care what the real numbers are but I don’t see much long term demand on a players choice double pack. In other words, rarity will take it to some price level but it will bump against a glass ceiling. Stadium events gets that treatment , somewhat, and it’s an original and early NES title. This is a double reprint of best sellers with a new outer box ? It will hit a ceiling. The auction is already 4300 so maybe it’s 10k now - I dunno. But whatever it goes for I’d rather be the seller than the buyer

Are you asking who cares about the variant or who cares about GC collecting?
The variant. I don’t see any greatest hits anything being anything anyone cares about long term. Okay so say it’s 2500 now. Is that more likely to go up to 5000, 10,000 over time? Or to drop to 1000? If it wasn't greatest hits/ players choice I’d have an open mind but I see this as only appealing to a tiny number of people. I could be wrong but I have a hard time imagining anything less exciting

won't last long term. I mean W.T.F. cares.

Ok, I trust your opinion on this Bronty. All I'm saying is the majority of my 85s, and I probably have 12 or so SNES examples of this, don't have those creases - except 1 or 2 and in those instances while visible the crease is very light. My 80s, and 80+ on the other hand generally do have creases.
Sure, I agree with that entirely. That's because they generally have other wear! this game was presented, if I recall the conversation correctly, as having no other flaws, but that's really not accurate.

To Jonebone's and Bronty's point, I can see if a game is truly flawless (no scuffing, corner pokes, dents, stickers, seal damage, etc.), could in theory score an 85, but I don't think it's realistic - unless say it was opened freshly from a case.
Jone beat me to it, but you don't get creased games from a case. Conversely, there are lots of minty games that have a creased. Alll that needs to happen is for a minty game to have too much weight put on it at some point in its history. Its not some kind of white whale, it does happen.
-
I mean, you've got white at all the corners, a corner ding, a side crease, and on the side shot you can see damage on the other side as well. Accumulation of defects. That is not what I'd call mint except for the crease
-
I mean, I've seen lots of 75s and they usually are pretty beat. And I've seen otherwise minty games with those creases, if light enough, get 85 no problem.
Its not 100% consistent at either company.

Yeah having Jim sign it would be weird IMO. If you’re lining up Jim Lee get him to sign an NES Punisher or a SNES wildcats or something instead.
For the record I don’t think that whoever redrew the art was ‘trying’ to copy him, I guess he had specific instruction to do so. Why not just use Jim’s art then is a mystery
