Just heard about this site from Signcollectorguy, so I had to make an account and check it out.  Not sure if many of you guys remember me, cause I've been out of the loop  for a few years now, but I've been a sign/kiosk/memorabilia  collector for nearly 20 years.  Bought most of my collection between 2000-2008 when prices were more reasonable.

Now that sign prices had skyrocketed, I moved from that to collecting arcade cabinets.  I currently have 12 arcades, and have pretty much maxed out my basement lol!

    Welcome my man!!!

  2. $35 Shipped CONUS

    for two posters.

30 years old Original New Old Stock Promo Poster. Lobby handout.

    “The Wizard” movie from 1989

    dimensions are 11.25” x 17”

I was able to source the posters from the original buyer who purchased them from an Auction at Christy’s of Indiana in April of 2015. The posters were part of a theatre that closed in Ohio around 10 years prior to that. The contents of the theater were moved to Christy’s for the auction. I added a snip of the original auction details in the pictures.

The reverse of the poster is white and you can slightly see browning of the borders due to age. If you like the smell of old paper these for sure have that beautiful old stank! (Which I love by the way)

Your poster will be shipped in a brand new Uline tube with end caps.

The poster will be rolled and secured with a tiny piece or pieces of painters tape. I have found fighting to get these out of the tube can cause damage so the rolled posters will float out easily.

Poster may have very slight imperfections such as dog ears or slight bends on the corners but for being over 30 years old they are in excellent condition and will display well!

I was actually able to meet Luke Edwards last year at the Let’s Play Gaming Expo during the 30 year Anniversary Event. He played Jimmy Woods/The Wizard who is on their shoulders on the poster image. Added a pic of him and I as well. Was a very cool thing to meet him!

Any questions I will field them in the comments. Payment accepted is Paypal Goods and Services. Please PM me if you are interested. Limited quantities available at this time.

  3. New sign for the collection. Been wanting something Original Xbox. Having its original packaging is a bonus and the history is great.

    Pre launch sign Part  #XM000049
Originally shipped to KB Toys store #1761 at First Colony Mall in Sugar Land Texas.

Sign is date stamped October 2001. Xbox launched in November of that year.

What is probably the best thing I like is the note on the back of the sign asking to save this sign for a person named Elmer. For sure leaving it on.  Added various pics as well.

Ebay seller was awesome and let me negotiate the price down. Always a haggler. 😀

  4. My collection in May of 2015. I have not been doing this as long as many but I certainly got hooked and made up for lost time in a hurry. The sign bug bit me in 2016 and glad I was able to get what I have in a short time. Aquiring stuff even a few short years later has really changed.

I was considering using that as a placeholder while I upgrade all my consoles to HDMI. Have you ever tried using it on an HDTV?

I did briefly but I was getting some glitching when I would be bring up in game options menus and it would switch resolutions. Instantly drove me bonkers. On a SDTV it is fast and seamless. The save state options for example on GBA (I am currently playing Minish cap) is very nice for me. Really love snapshot saving. The snapshot saving on my Mega Everdrive doesnt work the best (known issue I believe) also the filtering video option on alot of the emulators makes it look really nice. I used to be anti-emulator but it has come such a long way.

Have you considered flash carts?  It might help you own multiple consoles, but still remain minimalistic.  If you don't want more than 4 consoles at a time, maybe you can keep the unused consoles boxed up in storage.  When you get the urge to play that console, you can set it up and play it for a few days or weeks before boxing it back up.  If you combine this with flash carts, you don't need a bunch of games around either.  You can still buy and collect your favorite games for each console, but if you limit yourself to x number of games per console, the flash cart will still allow you to play just about any game you don't have.  Every console you mentioned has some type of flash cart or SD card reader available on the market.

My go to is a modded wii. I have consoles and ED's and even alot of original carts but the Modded Wii experience has been so damn fine tuned by modders its a very nice experience coupled with a component cable output to a Sony CRT, I am pretty happy with it. So the shelves are simply for show which also feels good. lol
