Soda kicks my ass every time
Block when Soda squats to do an uppercut. He'll get confused and freeze so that you can get a star off him. Star punches knock him down. You can get two quick and easy knockdowns this way before he starts dodging star punches.

That's so great to have you (back!) here Tonya
And I'm sure you're going to kick some ass in the contests anytime soon
She's definitely a fierce competitor in the contests. It would be great to have her back.

I love ActRaiser. Neither the sim or hack and slash aspect would be great as their own game but they combine so well.

I've never beaten Mega Man 2. I should get on that at some point.

I really really want to be good at this game, but the timing always feels off. I want to be able to make tight turns but I feel like I'm steering an 18 wheeler on a highway full of bananas and ballbearings.
Any tips for a noob on marble control?
The control is actually very tight but it takes practice to get the timing down. Eventually you develop the muscle memory for what you have to do. At least it's a very short game.
The world record holder yelsraek made a beginner tutorial that might be helpful.

“secret game” = marble madness ?
I wish. That was played in the tournament last year so probably not.
I hope it's Tetris.

Never played Excite Bike. I'm horrible at Popeye but it's a great tournament game.

He also seems to have a baby on the way or something. If it is the case, here's to his wife pregnancy to be uneventful. That thing is the worst.
Anyway, I am having to put all kinds of fires here at work while trying to train and get someone to stick around long enough for them to take over my position so retirement can begin.
It has been a very stressful mess, but with luck by next week I will have all the fires put out and will be able to resume my contest duties here.Good luck, Bea. Looking forward to the tournament.

Yeah, Bea has some serious things to deal with, but she'll return in her usual awesome self sooner than later. Bimmy, I had to state AWOL because, well he's simply not around lately. Haven't logged in for a month last time I checked on NA, so we can't expect him to be active on here at the moment. I'm sure he'll be back at some point, and I want him to know he's still totally considered part of the team when he's ready to jump back in.
Didn't he get married recently? So it makes sense that he's busy with other things these days.

I find myself obsessively replaying the games that I love, often until I'm quite good at them. On the negative side this means that I'm not getting to try more games that I haven't played before unless it's for a contest.

One of my fav on the NES too!
Such a killer score Michael, definitely something that any Marble Madness high rollers should shoot for. One day I'll put myself at it again
Thanks. I also spent a few days trying to speedrun it. I got 19th out of 87 on the leaderboard with a time of 2:55. At least it's top 20.
Speedrunning is so much more demanding than playing for score. I can't do silly fast enough.

Marble Madness
It's tied with Tetris for my favorite game on the NES. I never get tired of it.
And I don't want my high score that I posted over on NintendoAge to be lost. I dunno, maybe it wouldn't be lost, but here it is again anyway.

Before Dark Souls there was Demon's Souls come on man.
Yeah. At first I thought this thread was going to be about Demon's Souls.

Never played Dark Souls. I only know that it's supposed to be hard.
Ghosts n Goblins is the original hard game. It's the hard game that other hard games should be compared to.

Love this new site, and everything is so much easier, just got back checking on Barrels promotion and.... God that place is ugly and depressing.
Welcome to the party, 8bits!

I'll still post on both places as long as NA is still around.

I just wanted fifth place on the leaderboard and there it is. I'm happy.
Congrats to barrels on taking 4th this year.

I was impressed by Crisis Force when I recently played it for the first time.

I'm seeing many familiar faces already.

I voted ALTTP. But it's the one that I am currently most familiar with. I haven't played the NES games in too many years and I haven't played the Gameboy games or any modern Zelda beyond OOT.
Can you name every Nintendo published NES game?

That was one that I never would have guessed.
I also forgot that the original Final Fantasy was published by Nintendo.
