  1. Let’s gab about the Sega Saturn! I’ve only been playing the Saturn for around 2 years but I’m in love.

I plan on bumping this thread every once in a while with my pickups and game impressions.

But for now I’ll simply say this:

    Saturn > N64
    .......shut up, jone

Any other Saturn lovers around here??

  2. What are your top 3 scores from the given categories??

    Here’s mine:

On NA— I traded a minty CIB copy of Earthbound for this Earthbound poster. A lot of people think this trade is crazy but the truth is I can buy another CIB EB any day of the week. This poster...not so much.96695DD5-B8BB-4602-9418-F8B2DE04CF3F.thumb.jpeg.4b64185d5f4c26e0fbf33bf6d2b6075a.jpeg

On ebay— A few years ago I scored the SNES Exertainment 9XS Bike. I paid $1K and it came with a beautiful copy of MBR/SR

In the wild—cutting a long story short here but I recently found a rare Pikachu statue less than 5 blocks from my house. Paid $200 for him.

This is debatable.  The Dreamcast sold pretty well in the US while flopping hard in Japan.   The Saturn was the other way around, flopped hard in the US but was actually pretty successful in Japan, even selling more than the N64, Gamecube and Wii U in that region.

Everything I’ve read says that the Saturn moved more units than the Dreamcast. And I’m talking total units—irrespective of region.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Dreamcast do "well"?  It was just to little, to late to save SEGA.  I remember a LOT of people getting the DC.  It was fair priced, had a good line up.  A solid set of good, early games, but even with all of that going, it seemed that SEGA had already slid to far to having close their hardware doors to even survive.

Of course, you might say that those facts make it obvious that the DC didn't do well.  However, it's my opinion that the demise of SEGA hardware didn't have to do with poor DC sells or hype, it had to do with SEGA itself and struggling to keep up with a modern, changing hardware market.

No and no. The Dreamcast didn’t do well. The Saturn actually outsold it. And if anything, Sega was too forward thinking. Their failure didn’t really have anything to do with their inability to keep up.

    Nice!

I have the stand too, but someone modded it by adding a door and speaker to the side.

Ha! I know exactly the kiosk you’re talking about. I wondered where that one ended up. I saw it for sale YEARS ago. How did you get your hands on it?

I guess I didn't think this meme would trigger a different discussion about alphabetization when I arbitrarily grabbed pics from google.  Just to clarify I was half-jokingly making a statement on the way the carts face on a shelf and that's all.

    Yeah sure. Supremacist.

  7. Some context. I'm not the biggest hip hop fan in the world. I've got a few artists I'm into but there are other genres I prefer. But I overheard coworkers talking about how badly Eminem has fallen off. His last album sucks, blah blah blah. So out of curiosity I streamed it on my commute.

That fucking dude can still flow. He's like a lyrical acrobat. I'm not saying Kamikaze is a masterpiece--it's not. But damn is it impressive on a technical level.

And it reminds me how much hip hop has changed. Crazy dexterous wordsmiths used to move millions of units.  Now it's all auto tuned hooks and showboating. I know that there are a lot of great rappers out there but it seems like for every Kendrick Lamar and Maxo Kream, you got 20 Drakes, MGKs, and Travis Scotts....

    Or fuck, maybe I'm old....

TG-16, never actually seen one IRL, I suppose one case where price reflects actual rarity at least in my area.

A game store down the street from me got one in like 5 years ago. Store owner offered it to me before putting it on the floor. 40 bucks for the complete console with two controllers. I passed on it. Never saw one before or since. I regret that shit.

That’s definitely what happens now, however most people didn’t know about Moonshake as he was one of the first and it was only on an email group. I only got a copy of this vinyl seemingly random by chance.

i would sell that shit before the bottom falls out
