This is my style of game. It’s got a steep learning curve so I’m not good at it yet. But puzzle? It’s an arcade action game!

You're right! We deliberately put it in the Puzzle genre knowing that it is mainly an Arcade game, just because of the slight element of puzzle in it (creating an unknown form out of the coins). We do that sometimes to fill in more of the best suitable contest games in the different categories.

  2. The sky couldn't have been more clear in Quebec today, watched the eclipse momentarily from start to finish with the kids, it was great!

Snapped a few pics and vids of it as well, it worked through the glasses with maximum lights setup on the cam.

Galf! Golf Story is a criminally underrated game.

Came here to post this, but saw you beat me to it, so I had to come up with something else good real quick...

I like the Gradius intermission in Blades of Steel.  Thought it was really clever at the time.

But got beat again with my second pick! So I'll have to go with Tyrants Fight Through Time (Genesis), if you enter JOOLS as your password, you get to play a ripoff Asteroids game using some sprites of Tyrants... but don't try it cause it sucks.

Guess I’m dumb for only reading the first post and thinking it has started. I don’t think I will be redoing it.

Don't say that, who the hell read the rules anyway, haha! You still have a full week to think about it my good man!

Also, if you post scores later, make sure to take your pics before jumping on the stage box, we also need to see the time left on the clock for each stage.

Ultimately, the logic of cryptocurrency, or at least the logic of the sorts of people buying it and how it exists in its current state, are that it will inevitably crash in value over a long enough period of time.

The VAST majority of the people who bought these coins did so as a lottery ticket, with the hope and expectation that they would be able to cash out after making extraordinary gains. VERY few people actually have any interest whatsoever in the use value of the "coins", and they only buy and hold them for the purpose of making money. I mean REAL money here, hard US fiat.

The obvious problem is that the "value" of the coins on paper is VASTLY in excess, and I mean MANY orders of magnitude higher than the amount of ACTUAL money in the system. So it is absolutely and completely and utterly impossible for all the supposed "gains" of the currencies to be realised. The SOLE reason most people are invested in the first place, to be able to sell and make a fortune is actually fully impossible, and any attempt to realise it leads to an exponential devaluing of the currency as people attempt to "realise" their "gains".

Bitcoin never WAS worth 60,000 dollars. If you had one, and sold one at the top for that much, well yeah you could have probably have converted it into USDT and then into actual cash. But if too many people followed suit, the liquidity would dry up SUPER fast, like a TINY fraction of the total Bitcoin in the market could ever realistically have ever converted into 60K USD. After that, it's it's panic selling at ever larger discounts straight to the bottom... There was never the money there that people thought they had in the first place, it was ALWAYS an illusion.

Cryptocurrencies, in their current form, gain value from money pumped into the system from outside. The gullible schmucks who put in their covid checks in 2020 and 2021, and then continued to put in their paychecks each month, as well as their life savings. THAT is where all that magical money came from, that's where all those "gains" came from. People paying in to the system, there is no actual value there, it's robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Now, Paul has been paid, Peter has been robbed, and the numbers on the screen have been revealed as just that, numbers. It was NEVER possible for "ALL OF US TO MAKE IT", because there was very little ACTUAL money to make, at least not for the VAST majority of people "invested".

Hold, diamond hands, the moon. All lies to make the dumbest people leave their cash on the table for as long as possible, so Paul could slip it into his own pocket. Now the money is gone, and the bigger fool has been revealed.

Could it come back? I'm thinking a whole generation of easy money and goodwill has been burned, it's not going to be anywhere NEAR this easy to rope in the marks next time. All the most desperate, dumb and greedy have already been exploited and chewed up and spat out. I think it's going to be a LONG time before we see a significant recovery in the price of Bitcoin specifically (that is if Tether doesn't FUBAR) and in general I think most of crypto in its present form is basically done.

They are going to have to find something to actually do with it that isn't just gambling before any true value is possible to generate AND sustain, IMO. And hey, if they DO, maybe I will use a coin or two myself one day, you know, when there's actually a legit REASON to and I'm not going to get hacked and lose my entire lifesavings! 😅

100- I started going after the list in the fall of 1999 after watching 12 Angry Men in my dorm room. Finished the original 1998 list, the 10th anniversary list, 100 Laughs, 100 Thrills and 100 Passions as well over the years from AFI. Currently working on world wide lists like the Time 100 and 1001 Movies to see before you die. A lot of incredible movies I would’ve never given a chance without the lists.

Those lists are indeed very useful to catch movies you wouldn't otherwise. It is also cool when there's like a summary of the plot just to tease you.

What I used to do a lot is when I get to know a director/screenwriter I really like, I try to watch almost all of the movies he worked on.

  7. Almost saw them all, and it is kind of funny that most of the ones I haven't seen are like super popular movies, lol.

Unseen = Star Wars - E. T. - The Sound of Music - Intolerance (my bad here, it is quite a lengthy silent film) - The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowships of the Ring - Jaws - In the Heat of the Night - All the President's Men - A Night at the Opera - Swing Time - Sophie's Choice

And I seen like a lot of scenes from most of these movies, I just never sat down and watched them from beginning to end.

Someone has these ancient archives that were somehow not burnt into pieces? So out of curiosity what were the top 3 spots for every year?

Archives from the time we were on NintendoAge (almost complete? There might be missing a few weeks) : https://archive.nes.science/nintendoage-forums/nintendoage.com/forum/messageview0d82.html?catid=31&threadid=168510

Archives since we're on VGS, you have to dig a little to find what you're looking for as I haven't took the time to put stuff in order yet : https://www.videogamesage.com/forums/forum/111-events-archive/

    Have fun!

Ultima: Warrior of Destiny.  It looks phenomenal, right up until you try and actually play it.

That game is such a complete disappointment after Exodus and Quest of the Avatar. You just can't play more than 5-10 minutes of that garbage and never come back to it, especially if you played through Ultima III and IV on NES just before.

I appreciate where your coming from but the respect is that they still call me “skinny” it’s a bit of an inside thing but these guys know me very well and I’ll always be “skinnygrinny” no matter what the username might change to.

It is heart warming to see the skinnygrinny username back. This said, that NA mod pic James posted just reminded me how humorous the transition from '42 foot tapeworm' to 'docile tapeworm' actually was, hahaha!

  11. Okay guys, let's all calm down now, please Basil and Richard, no more bickery over this.

It is true that in the past, we always asked players to inform us in pm about suspicions of cheating and calls over other players etiquette etc., and we all have an example of why we were asking this in the first place. It usually ends up like this.

I will also mention that Bea and I (and let's add Bimmy here for the sake of history), as organizers of the contest (which would never exist in the first place without the players, let's not forget) have always had at heart to monitor the legitimacy of the competition, while trying to maintain an easy going, relaxed and friendly environment based around the honor system. This smooth ruling sometimes comes with a price here and there, as reasonable doubts and valid questioning come to the surface. I assure you that we will try to appease the mind of everyone after reviewing the situation regarding this tournament. Please give us the time to sort things out and everybody should be happy in the end.

As though this looks a bit extraordinary, I can say for myself, as I been involved in this contest for over 15 years now, that we've moderated a LOT of this kind of situations in the past, mostly off the board, and that there is nothing new under the sun and it is business as usual. We'll get through this and everyone will want to play in 2024.

    Peace!

Yep. Even updated my avatar to better represent that since I already shopped around and paid for the prosthetic hand so I just have to claim it and fit the stump weeks after surgery. Made peace with that long ago.

I'm not sure if I should feel sad or relieved about it, the idea of replacing a natural hand for a bionic one seem absolutely uncomfortable, but I know at the same time you're doing it for your own good, so I wish you the best with that my dear Bea!
