  1. We'll finally get to see if the "you're just jealous and hate graded games" defense will hold up in court
  2. This is a textbook example of the pot calling the kettle black. Seems like you just MIGHT be projecting a little bit there lol
  3. I can see it now.... "Your honor, I'd like to point out that you're all just jealous of my client and you clearly hate graded games. I rest my case"
  4. I actually know the guy who hoarded Dinosaur Peak, he owns a store near me. Another guy on NA did it with Cliffhanger for NES too
  5. Just get an acrylic case to put it in. Literally the only difference between a sealed game in an acrylic case and a graded game is some guy didn't look at it and give it an arbitrary "grade" based on whatever he felt at that moment.
  6. Is there anyone buying graded games in general that aren't doing it in hopes of reselling it for more money later? Who actually "collects" these? They just move from one "speculator" to another
  7. That's exactly it. I feel like I've said this 100 times already but the people who STILL continue to defend WATA all have a financial stake in it one way or another. They either buy and sell graded games themselves, or they plan on selling all, or a major portion of, their collection at some point in the future. The value of games going up in general financially benefits them either way.
  8. To be fair, I can't figure out where you even found that page at. Even if you Google his name + WATA, that doesn't come up
  9. I didn't read that guy's article but I looked at some of his older substacks and without getting political here, he seems like an idiot
  10. I don't see how whatever you're showing me has anything to do with some random guy in a Facebook group saying Karl and everyone who likes his video are "jealous"
  11. That group is a comedy gold mine. We've reached levels of cope never thought possible:
  12. That's how it's always been. A lot of these people came from the world of sports cards or comics and saw video games as the next thing to make money on. There's also some of them that just want to wave their e-peen around. You ever notice how all of the arguments from the sealed/graded collectors always boil down to "You're just jealous!" They refuse to acknowledge any criticism of their "investments". They WANT people to be jealous of them, that's part of the appeal. They love the aura of elitism. That's why you see all these comments coming out since Karl's video like "he's just jealous - he just hates graded games - he's just mad he didn't get in on graded games when it first started" or some variation of that. It's weird because I'm involved in a lot of collecting circles for different things and I really only see this with vintage games. You see these guys whose entire life and personality is defined by their video game collections, and a lot of them seem to not really have any interest in the games themselves, it's just an internet ego-boost thing, which is also why you see so many of these people sell everything off and completely leave the hobby all together.
  13. that's what we've all been saying for the past 10 something years and by "we" I mean everyone who doesn't collect sealed and/or graded games
  14. Ebay has made it harder to do that. The story I just mentioned about meeting the guy in person... whenever I messaged him, ebay would not let me send ANY private messages to him because their algorithm thought I was trying to back door a deal. All I was doing was telling him "hey I'll give you 500 and pick it up in person" and ebay wouldn't even let the message go through. I tried giving him my email address and they don't let you do that either. I had to do some sleuthing and find his personal email address just to contact him.
  15. I recently bought something on ebay, not a video game but a rare vintage 80s toy store display, the seller had it listed for 1000, no one bid....relisted at 750, no one bid, I made an offer of 500 and could pick it up locally and he agreed. When I met the guy he SHOWED me on his phone a crazy message from someone saying "I can't believe you sold this to someone for 500, are you STUPID?! I sell these for 2 grand all day long! You're running the value of these things selling this so cheap!" and it went on and on like that. This was last month by the way. Had another one kinda like that recently where I bought a bunch of really rare 80s metal records at a flea market and did a big bundle where I basically got them all for 10 bucks a piece and the seller actually tracked me down again and begged me not to let any of the other vendors know what he sold those to me for, like he was afraid they would find out and get mad at him
  16. I looked at the thread on the CGC forum about the video, and that's a comic grading group, and even THOSE guys are piling on Bronty lol. He's trying to get the entire thread shut down.
  17. You know what's funny is there was a page you could still find by googling that had Bronty, Josh Byerly (qixmaster), and a couple others listed as WATA members (including people posting here as you said), it was an old part of the WATA website that was still up but was no longer linked anywhere on their page. The day after the video came out it was permanently taken down
  18. lol this is exactly what I said in one of my last comments when I said if this thread was on NA, it would be locked and half of us would be banned. This is how they operate: gaslight - delete - ban - distract - control the narrative
  19. this made me lol...it's the same tactic they used to use on NA. Whenever someone had a legitimate gripe, they would derail the thread with BS that had nothing to do with the topic.
  20. Yes but I remember him constantly bragging about how much money he spent. There were also some accusations that he harassed or pestered the artist to sell those to him when he didn't really want to
