What a great way to display consoles!

Do you keep them hooked-up like that, too? Or do you have a different method for playing?

    [T-Pac]

I have all the cords running from the TVs, behind the shelves, and underneath the desktop. I labeled them all, so all I have to do is grab the console and plug it in without the hassle of messing with the TVs, inputs, etc.

So I can have 3 consoles going simultaneously (which I've had to do before when my nephews visited 😂) without getting tangled up.

I still want to get some of those clear plastic holders for the controllers so they stand upright as well.

Just wanted to chime in as well. I love the way you’ve displayed your Donkey Kong SNES! Great collection keep it up.

Thanks! Just gotta stain the barrel but I've been lazy about it now that it's in there.

I'm looking to add more DKC stuff to my collection as well. Just narrowing my focus to games I love.

    Hey, sorry for your loss.

I don't know how much these figurines go for, but I always see a ton of them at local auction houses. Maybe look around and see what kind of a cut they take and go from there.

Good idea. That may be our best bet. There's just so much of it, and he doesn't mind just going lump sale for everything to clear out the house.

And it will hopefully save us a lot of time wrapping up glass in paper and bubble wrap for shipping.

  4. My wife's grandma passed away and had hundreds of glass and porcelain figurines. Does anyone know anything about valuations on these kinds of things?

Or, best way to sell them for a decently fair price? I have no idea where to start, and her grandpa wants me to help him sell them off.

There's a lot more than pictured,  but that's an idea of what I'm working with.

    Thanks in advance.

@ThePhleo I actually spoke with Kenneth and plan to send it in to CGC for him to take a look. I have already had manual and inserts pressed/cleaned and cart cleaned as well. Was expecting at a minimum an 8.0 CIB 1st print. These photos I posted were taken before it went to be cleaned and pressed. I also plan to add the cleaning service + w/ CGC for my submission. If they think the sticker is a repro then they’ll have my permission to remove it and at least we will know people are now starting to add repro stickers to things. However with that said I will say I’ve looked it over for a good while and it appears to be aged on there and a legit sticker. Just my humble opinion though. It was shipped back to me in an Inconclusive baggy from WATA.

It wouldn't really make sense for someone to put a fake sticker on this game. I mean, they'd have to know enough about early NES releases to know sticker seals existed, but not enough to know Zelda never came with one in US.

Keep us updated on CGC input. I'm super curious.

    You forgot Jaws.

I would also say Gotcha is much harder to find than Super Pitfall - several of those on Ebay right now.

I have been wondering about Jaws for a while now. I could've sworn there was talk about it years ago on NA.

    Does anyone have the cart?

Nvm just checked pg 1. A ton of people have it 😂

So, it’s easy to spot 5 screws and check if they are rare or not, but do any of you have a list of 3-screw titles that are specifically rare? I know Gyromite is.  Are there others to keep an eye out for?

I still stand by non-CAN 3 screw Volleyball as being pretty hard to come by.

Silverspoon's list is pretty much the rest of them though.

Probably, Soccer doesn't exist in 3 screw, but we hold out hope.

Family Video. Not industrial enough to carry the full Blockbuster look.

Im not even sure I’d put it in my own game room. It’s not really unique and it takes up way too much space for how much it displays!

It's actually really narrow. I had a fake fireplace thing there before, and it was cozy but not nostalgic at all.

This, to me, holds a lot more meaning than, say, wall shelves, or something like that. Especially once I get the vibe right around it with signage and fridge, not to mention the clamshell boxes.

I can see your perspective, but the sideways boxes/carts just ain't cutting it for me anymore. I wanna see the art.

  9. I got this from a friend a few days ago. It's an old Family Video shelf. I'm not sure if Family Video is widespread or not, but they were all over in the midwest.

Anyways, I want to fit it out with retro signage from old video stores, and I just want some input.

I don't have a ton of nostalgia for Fam Vid. I rented at Hollywood Video and Blockbuster as a kid. So, my question is:

Should I go full on Family Video since that's its origin? Or would it still feel right with Blockbuster signage or the like?

I know people are just gonna say "whatever feels right," but I'm asking because I actually want input.

Also, I'm aiming to get an old Mt Dew fridge and wire candy rack to go on the right side. I'm also going to get clamshells for the carts and it will be all boxed games of various condition. Essentially, as close to video store vibe as possible.

I'm totally leaning at NOT legit. That's a label swap if I ever saw one.

That back label section also seems like an obvious scrape job. There are scratches all over that section.

Damn, idk. The labels are usually trash on these Konami 5 screws, but this is bubbling up a lot, so I see your point there.

I don't see bad scratching on back, but maybe that's just the pic on my phone.

Either way, these are so hard to buy for ebay prices when they are rather easy to fake... I wish the screw variants could've stayed niche enough to not attract scammers.

I think the only thing that I would've done differently would be to stain the barrel before putting the logo on.  But that's still one of the cooler things I've seen in someone's collection!

Yes, definitely. I thought about staining it and got lazy.

We were originally going to paint the logo directly on the barrel,  but wanted to test run it first and I think it looks better with the 3-d sort of look like in the game.

So the good thing about that is I can still remove it and stain it when I have a day off

What's the story on the DK barrel?

I've always wanted a barrel since I was like, 8, just because I loved DKC so much.  Finally, I got an old wine barrel from a budy and slapped a DK logo on it to fulfill my childhood dreams lol

  13. My SNES quest has shifted, and I finally got my hands on something I've been wanting for years but just never pursued.

My buddy picked it up a few months back and sold it to me.

Has matching serials, and the original receipt!! I thought that was too cool to pass up.
