That's good you slowed down so I can catch up to you. I'm at 1073 😛 JK. Either way INSANELY gorgeous collection. Those WOW displays are a gold mine making the game room perfect. Btw, curious on the lighting for your ceiling? Just LED strip? Look like the universe up there. Very neat setup.

I counted today Skorp, I’m at 1350 on the nose. Little more than I thought! Don’t worry though, I’m still slowin’ down for a bit, so you’ll still probably “catch” me😂

  2. I just kinda tried to work around it for the most part. My game-collecting habits and focuses shift with time anyway, and 3 years is a long time in a "collecting life", so I'm sure things would look at least a little bit different in my collection with or without the pandemic.

Most of my game collecting is done through the mail or delivery services in one form or another anyway, so aside from a slight increase in the sheer volume of mail and parcels I was receiving, I wasn't impacted all that much. I still did several FB Marketplace meetups w/masks etc, and went to local game stores when they opened back up, restrictions and precautions abound.

The real shift over the last few years has been in the focus of my collecting. At the start of Covid I was definitely most focused on Switch, Gameboy and GameCube collecting, with a strong emphasis on the Switch. 3 years later, my Gameboy/Gamecube collecting has slowed to a trickle (acquired most of the games I want), my Switch collecting has slowed down significantly and become pretty selective (the shovelware floodgates have really opened), and these days I'm pretty much putting all my collecting funds into signs and displays etc. Since they're so damned expensive, it doesn't leave much room in my collecting budget for anything else lol.

Dang, creepin on 1100! I know the level of commitment that takes lol. Wouldn't mind seeing how you've got your collection set up! Thanks for the kind wordsanyway brother, I appreciate it.

For the lighting, I've got app-controlled Geeni LED strips running along the top/back of the shelves to give that "backsplash" look against the wall, and for the galaxy effect, I have a small laser/light projector in the middle of the floor. You can see it this pic:

Ok what's the switch game count? This is the biggest red wall I've seen to date.

To be honest I haven't done a count in quite a while, but the total is somewhere in the ballpark of 1200-1250 games.

That's actually ~the same number I've had for a while, as I've both had to slow down on my Switch collecting for a bit while I settle some rather pricy sign/display deals, and I've also sold/traded a few "physically large+low priority" titles to make space in the game room (Valkyria Chronicles 4 comes to mind, with the giant CE box used to house a tiny plastic tank), as I'm pretty much totally out of space to display things and having to constantly "Tetris" things around to make them fit.

Honestly can’t say I noticed any of that and I certainly didn’t belong in any clique or had any friends on there. I was no different there than I am hear. Occasionally post a couple comments, rarely start a new thread with some decent gaps in between doing those things.

The only real difference was I bought and sold a bunch in the marketplace. The only pms I ever got were for haggling essentially

100% of this applies to me also ^^. I wasn’t in anyone’s clique or part of any inner circle, my presence there was just like it is here. I don’t know if I was obliviously dancing between the raindrops as all these negative things happened around me, but if that’s the case, I sure feel lucky to have come away from several years of daily visits without ever having noticed, myself.

I never understood what people meant when claiming NA was toxic or had issues or whatever. I was on there daily from 2011-end and didn’t see anything that would cause me to call out a site for. Maybe it’s just I didn’t go into threads that these things happened in. I also never received any kind of warning/reprimand/ban.

Sure there was maybe a handful of people that were annoying to me but that’s what the block button was for. If the barometer for toxic is needing to block some people then this place would qualify too ass I have 2 people on my block list here as well.

I think it’s being grossly exaggerated in hindsight, I wouldn’t say NA came within 100 miles of qualifying as a “toxic” environment. I would’ve called it a “pleasant/welcoming/friendly” online environment based on my years of experience there. Unless I REALLY wasn’t visiting the threads where all this was going on, I’d say we’re looking at a bit of sensationalized revisionist history.

All I can say is thank goodness JJGames held out and didn't sell PriceCharting.  That's the thing to be happy about here.

Bingo. That would've thrown things into a much worse state of disarray. As for NintendoAge, I miss the domain name, post history, and some users that didn't make the switchover for sure. I never really experienced a lot of toxic behaviour there, personally.

Paid that and got 2 more in the works!? Niiiiice! Lol

Yeah, trust me I wasn't thrilled to pay that lol. I've got a World of Nintendo fiberoptic I'm picking up on Jan 3, and a Mario statue in the works. Paying both an arm and a leg for both of 'em lol. I'll post 'em when I get 'em, but I don't know what the next pickup will be after that!

I've struck out a few times trying to buy this sign. What did it set you back? What's it going for these days? Nice pick up!

Paid way more for it than I wanted to. I offered 1500 for it which I though was a strong offer, ended up paying about 2K. Signs are getting pretty ridiculous these days man, I have 2 more display/sign deals on the table at the moment, and after that I don't know how I'll be able to continue collecting them lol.
