It is Yahoo and 12 is my size preference as well. It's not looking like we're gonna be able to get there this year though. It has been difficult getting people to commit this year. @Quest4Nes used to get a good turn out in his fantasy leagues in the good ol' NA days.
That NA league is still alive. Had a few come and go over the years, but we’ve still got several longtime members.

If it gets to 12, I might be up for it. 10 just takes too much skill out of it. Too many established players per team. No disrespect.
Also, is this Yahoo or ESPN?

Wider public acceptance is troubling.
A shop in a large shopping mall had vintage and repro carts right next to each other with a sign designating a discount for the repro version.

Got to see it in 4DX today. So fun!

Looking to get Castlevania 1,2,3 back in my collection. Had the set years ago.
Looking for very good condition, 3-screw backs and lower than eBay prices. PayPal ready. Thanks!

Has anyone received a shipping update for Shredder’s Revenge?
Got it in the mail yesterday. Shipping update came about a week prior.

Dynowarz for the NES
-
Played it on a demo disc back in the day, then got the retail game when I started collecting.
Flawed for sure, but the nostalgia hit is potent.

Full disclosure: I have a Retro Duo and have used it for years.
Got it in a lot and have kept it for testing purposes. I don’t know how much wear I’m saving on the hardware of my personal consoles, but it’s got to be a little.

Games have been going up and up for the last dozen years or more. Typically, if you let go of a game and then bought it again years later you pay a lot more.
What games have you been able to re-buy for less that you initially paid?
I’m not taking about yard sale finds. More like games that were republished or rereleased on a modern system, ect.
-
For classic systems: Original hardware/controller/memory card. RGB modded consoles when available, component or S-Video out when RGB unavailable. Play consoles on a PVM when possible. Original media.
I don’t consider myself a snob. I was just fortunate to begin my collecting journey prior to original hardware and media not yet being super expensive.

The remake of Higher Love by a DJ and Whitney Houston that was released a few years ago Is awesome.

For me, it’s all about the re-buy. Have I had items that are now super expensive that cost me little back in the day? Yes, for sure. Many old heads from NA have been in such a situation.
To be specific, if I can’t re-buy a game for less than $200, I’m out.

I played Rival Turf (SNES) this week. It straight rips off Final Fight and even Street Fighter II in some ways.
What games stick out to you as being a huge rip off of other games?
-
I used to think that I wanted to collect and play the OG version of games, but now I just want to play the best available versions. Example: Zelda titles on Wii U.
Times when I must have the game on its original release are mostly do to nostalgia for formerly playing it on that media.- 2

I once received a package that included an ornate pocket knife. I contacted the seller and they sent a shipping label and I mailed it back to them. Seems they dropped it while packing the box and had been wondering where it was.
Contacting the seller first is the simplest road to making the right decision.

Not a game, but I have a GameCube because of the Game Boy Player.

@LostLevel83 Sorry I forgot about this for a bit! I also feel like I remember the phrase. I could not find the ad 🫤 And I didn't read other gaming magazines back in the day, so I wouldn't think it was in GamePro or EGM. Anyway here are the subscription come-on ads I did find in my NP collection, which is #1-67 and a couple in the 80s.
edit: Unfortunately the image host site screwed up the chronological order

Thank you for that. Very cool!
In my head, the ad was on a single page. I’ve also tried looking through archive.org with no success yet.

Watched this movie today. It blends modern gaming and classic gaming roots into a girls against the world theme. It was cheesy. It was fun. There is a scene where a ton of vintage gaming hardware is shown.
Modern premise + pretty girl + classic games = feel good story.

I recall it specifically said “save your life”. However, my mind could be remembering incorrectly.

The first two stages are very loosely modeled after the first two on SNES, but that's pretty much where the similarities end - mechanically they play very differently, and the whole pace and feel of the game is just something else entirely.
Well said. During the first two stages I thought to myself “I’ve played this before. Did I get tricked into buying one of those remasters of an old game?”. It really takes an amazing turn though and becomes a unique game.

I don’t remember anything else. I thought I could use the scans on Internet Archive, but after going through a few of them I’m not certain they include ads.

There is an ad included in an edition of Nintendo Power that features the statement “reading could save your life”. I saw it years ago. I would like to find out what issue or issues this ad ran in.
My wife and I recently (finally) got to purchase our first home and we have a room dedicated to our hobbies. I would love to find a copy of that ad to frame. Her hobby is books and mine is video games. It’s dorky, but fun.
Anyone know this? Anyone have a beat up copy of the magazine they want to sell/donate? Any info is appreciated!

Not sure if it counts as it impacts the overall success in the game, but original Donkey Kong inside of DK64 was always fun.
