I was on the fence but caved in and got one as well. Cool that it came with the bonus item too. Couldn’t find anything I didn’t like about it other than price, and while it was a little more than I wanted to spend I haven’t gotten myself something in a while and have definitely spent way more on shovel ware in the past so I think I’m going to be happy with the purchase. Looking forward to its arrival!

And random question for anyone who may know, why is Zelda 2 a shell for several protos? I know I’ve seen multiple developers use Zelda 2 shells just like this one and it’s interesting that they’re cut out perfectly for the large dev boards/proto usage. Makes me wonder if someone at Nintendo at some point cut out a bunch of these and sent them along with the dev boards to third party companies to use for prototype development. Just seems odd that there are several protos that use a Zelda 2 shell cut out this exact way but they are not exclusive to one developer.

Grew up in Lexington, KY and went to grad school at UK. Moved to OH for a great job opportunity and spent 6 years there. Moved to NC in 2018 for another great opportunity and love it here. Moving has allowed me to advance my career and have experiences I wouldn’t have had by staying in my hometown. I’m way better off all around for being flexible to relocation. While I see family and friends a little less than before due to distance, I don’t feel distant because we’ve just adapted how we stay in touch. I’ve made new friends and new relationships each place I’ve lived and it has been great. At the end of the day KY or OH are not going anywhere and I can always move back at any time so I’ve had zero regrets.

Ran across a seller on eBay with several really neat Nintendo store display concept sheets, display photos, and employee pieces. Haven’t seen similar pieces before and figured they’d be worth sharing. Will be interesting to watch the auctions on these. Seller also has several other items not linked below.

Thanks for posting the update. I wouldn’t have seen this thread if you hadn’t. Watched the video in the first post and then your update and the graphics, sound, and game play are all VERY impressive! I definitely want to play this when it’s done!

Ditto everything that has already been said. But would add the question - do you have any debt? From the $18k I’d keep 6 months of living expenses plus a small additional cushion in an online savings account with a rate better than your typical bank (e.g., Discover online savings) and just let it sit. Whatever is left, I’d first consider if there was debt that was costing me money before investing anything. Depending on the interest rate on any debt I’d first consider paying that down. Also, is there any way to leverage the cash to decrease monthly cost? Do you pay PMI on a mortgage but are close to 20% equity and could tilt the scales to 20% with the remaining cash and get out of the monthly PMI? Lastly, if you have a mortgage, have you taken advantage of the crazy historically low rates right now? You can do a no cost refi where the lender credit is enough to cover your closing costs, and walk away with a lower monthly at no cost to you while freeing up more cash for investment. So those are some additional thoughts to consider, otherwise there’s very solid advice in the other posts.
