I don't really know how to describe "The News is the News" other then awful (and forgettable as I'm having trouble trying to describe it, but Wikipedia says 'Live-News Satire Program'). I wasn't old enough to watch this when it first aired on June 15, 1983, but ended up being lucky/unlucky enough to watch a recording of the first episode on Betamax a few years ago. But compared to other shows recorded on other tapes from the same lot/similar shows on the air at that time, this was just unfunny and boring.

Should probably transfer it before the tape goes bad though.

am I right in thinking this is Aldi brand?????

    Yeah its an Aldi brand.

While not a cracker, Aldi sells what are essentially Girl Scout 'Peanut Butter Patties' except that the cookie inside is chocolate rather then vanilla. After buying a box of Girl Scoutl PBP's recently, I will say that Aldi's version tastes better (results may vary per person though).

btw: I buy generic Cheez-Its (this brand ↓ they're from Aldi) (and all crackers) this is why I didn't capitalize their names in my first reply. They're about 99% as good if not 100, and both are far better than Cheese Nips ever were.

These are what I've been buying, though I do try and get the 'White Cheese' flavor if they have them in (the best flavor).  I still think Cheese Nips tasted better then these (especially the Four Cheese Cheese Nips).

  4. Haven't bought them in a long time, but I've always thought 'Whales' were superior to 'Goldfish'. Also, a bit bummed to find that 'Cheese Nips' were discontinued a few years ago. Always preferred them over 'Cheez-Its'.

  5. I'm almost certain that I'm not the only person who's pulled their hair out just hoping for the RNG to be in their favor only for it not to be. Over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And I"VE BEEN BASHING STARMAN SUPERS FOR THE PAST 3 HOURS! WHERES MY SWORD OF KINGS?!!

Yeah, Earthbound has a good chunk of the best equipment stuck as 1/128 drops: Sword of Kings, Gaia Beam, Magic Fry Pan, Star Pendant, Goddess Ribbon, and Gutsy Bat (a moment of silence for anyone who used the Earthbound Player's Guide). I don't remember ever getting any one these items on my first play through and, it might just be me, but for whatever reason  when I did try to go after them, its always taken me at least an hour or more to finally obtain it.

Most recently, I spent 3 hours EACH trying to get the Sword of Kings and Gaia Beam on a play through I started back in February and in the midst of trying to get the first of three Star Pendants (an hour in at the time), just sort of gave up on the hunt, went and bashed Gyigas and Porky back into Mother 1 and 3 respectively, and called it a day.

Anyway, anyone else have a horrible RNG experience to share?

  6. I have a couple CD soundtracks, though most of them aren't as old as what Tanooki's been purchasing: Undertale, Deltarune Chapter 1, Thunder Force IV and Killer Instincts' Killer Cuts. Also have vinyls of 'Spacer Invaders' by Player[1] and 'Pac-Man Fever' by Buckner & Garcia, though I haven't really listened to them.

Anyways, to commemorate the 1st of April...

With the obligatory meme-mix out of the way, Zero Wing's MD soundtrack is pretty great, with my favorite song, aside from the Intro, being Stage 2's theme. Also, who doesn't like Can-Can music?

  8. Question: Do you know of a song from a video game that you want to spread the word on how amazing(or bad... or weird) it is, but haven't found a suitable place to do so? Well this thread is what you've been looking for! (I'm surprised a thread dedicated to VGM didn't appear sooner...)

So apparently, Square Enix started up a Music Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMx60HYcw1ieiPlZZagfqXQ/featured
The channel is more of a collection of playlists of SE OST's, most of the song titles are in Japanese, and there's a good number of games missing (sorry Rad Racer and 3-D World Runner fans), but I think there'll be something there for just about anyone. (Now all we need is Nintendo to do something like this)

A few personal favorites of mine:

TBH, I didn't care too much that they were removed. Yeah, not being able to see the amount of dislikes on something like a 'How to' video would be bad (Especially if said video is absolutely wrong). But for the most part, I see the 'Likes' button as an option for making a general Playlist so 'dislikes' are just pointless to me. Plus the comments section is an alternative.

Yeah, it's always kinda inconsistent with what games actually get taken down whenever these big copyright strike waves happen. I don't even care that much about the videos themselves being taken down, I more so care about all of the old comments that also get deleted when this happens. It's fun to go back to these vids from, like, 2007-2011 and see all the several year old comments on those videos. But then whenever these vids get taken down, poof, all that history just disappears in an instant. That's the part that always makes me sad about these strike waves.

Huh. I never really thought of that. Then again, most of the time I see the YT comments section as 'I Like This', 'I Hate This', 'x amount of people have no tastes' (RIP dislikes). Very seldom do I see stuff like the original composer commenting that they're impressed by a remix of one of their songs or new development history of some game from 80s - mid 2000's (it might help if I looked at the comments though).

Yeah, I noticed that. A couple of my songs were GilvaSunner links, which worked when I put together the list, and then literally, like, the next day the GilvaSunner links were removed. Bastards, haha.

What I find weird is that some game OSTs were untouched (so far🤞) even though other games in the same series were gone (mainly Kirby games, but apparently Skyward Sword and Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door survived too).
