  1. Hey everyone!

I’m finally getting back into the collecting game and my goal is to acquire every Madden game ever made CIB. I’m also going to go after factory sealed copies of my favorite ones.

I had well over 250 feedback on NA and a stellar buying/selling reputation.

I am literally starting from scratch here and obviously we all know Madden games aren’t exactly easy to sell, so I’m hoping to acquire these in bulk for a good price.

I am looking for excellent condition titles. Don’t want any major corner wear, crushing, wrinkles or anything like that.

    Wanted list:

    - Literally every Madden game CIB or sealed

    - Madden memorabilia

Let me know what you have and how much you’re looking for - I’m in Pittsburgh and have PayPal ready to go.

I've picked up a few large collections for $20k+ each, but those were at huge discounts to actual individual value.  As far as a single item goes, maybe the $2,250 I spent for my restored Paperboy arcade game with a Championship Sprint Kit.

Ahhh man you’re giving me the itch to get out there and start buying again. I had so much fun going out and hunting. Competing with the other resellers was a great time and most of us ended up becoming friends.

I do miss those huge thousands of dollars buys - I do not miss the testing, listing and shipping!

@MaddenCollector You may already know this, but one of the Brady or Prima guides - I want to say it was maybe Madden 09, but I'm not positive - had a special edition, which came with a hardcover book about the history of the Madden series. I used to have a copy, but unfortunately I'm pretty sure it got lost in the shuffle some years ago when we (almost) moved and had to get rid of a bunch of stuff.

I have heard of this but my internet searches have come up dry.

I’m actually in the early stages of writing a history of madden book, so this would be a great reference piece.

    Did you dump your Facebook?

I did man...I believe the last post I made was something along the lines of:

”Time to delete Facebook. If I wanted to deal with a bunch of grown adults arguing and thinking they’re right about everything, I’ll just go ref more hockey and get paid to deal with it.”

They really should just rename it PoliticsBook.

I do, but I don't specifically focus on Madden.  I just have always enjoyed the franchise and have picked up nice sealed copies when I can come across them... which is not as easy to find as you think.

And that would be me too.

On topic, love to see more Madden collectors.  I forget the exact username from NA but there was a busdriversomething from NY who had a very nice Madden collection too.

You know one of these days I’m gonna try to pry that from you 😉

I think you’re right about the sealed thing - that’s why I’m only going after a few of them that were personal favorites. For example, I never touched SNES or Saturn versions growing up so CIB is just fine for those. But Madden 94 on Genesis? That’ll probably end up slabbed for no reason other than the fact that I loved it.

  6. Hey all!

Former longtime collector, former NA poster (linktothepastgames, retroscribe) - recently got the itch to start collecting again.

The one mainstay for most of my life has been Madden so I’m going to start with collecting Madden games and memorabilia.

I’ll go CIB for the bulk and I’m gonna find my favorite games sealed.

Any other Madden collectors out there?

Hi! What happened with the retro rental store? Not enough interest?

I don’t recall the exact details but we were using PayPal as the payment processor andI learned  they had language in their contract that would give me zero recourse if someone rented games and never returned them. There weren’t many other options back then for payment processing based on how the site was set up.

Ah you deleted your FB?  Yeah I used to keep up with your posts, think I recommended you a laptop site in your search a few weeks back.  Still collecting shoes too? Lots of great items to collect from video games these days, never too late to get back in!

Yeah man I just couldn’t deal with the constant barrage of politics. My final post was along the lines of “if I wanted to watch grown adults argue that they’re right about everything, I’d just go ref more hockey games and get paid to deal with it”

Shoes are kind of on the back burner, we are getting married in Sept and have lots of personal goals to hit before I start dropping $200/week on Jordans haha

    How have you been dude?

  9. Hey guys -

I just went to NA and couldn’t remember my username, but then I realized that was probably a good thing after I did a quick Google search.

Those that have been around a while may remember me - old usernames were linktothepastgaming and retroscribe.

To jog your memory: I produced a few homebrew titles (Blow em Out, Beerslinger, Perfect Pair) and owned the short-lived retro game rental company.

So the reason I came back around was that I recently deleted my Facebook but wanted to save some old pics and I found some sick stuff that I once owned: Dreamcast kiosk, Neo Geo stuff galore, NBA Elite 11 VIP kit, and of course my Stadium Events.

I missed those days and a lot of the friends I made here so I thought now was a great time to say hello. I’m still active in the video game world, but I’m focused on my true love - Madden. Wrote a strategy guide during quarantine and I’m working on a history of Madden book.

Anyway, hope to hear from some of the old guys!

    Cheers,

    Bill
