The story behind this picture is one of my all-time favorite video game buying experiences.
10 days ago I got a response to my Craigslist ad for buying video games. The guy said he had an Atari Jaguar in the box with some games for sale. I replied to ask about game titles and box condition, he sent me some pics and it was all in great condition. I asked how much he wanted and he said it looked to be around $700 on eBay and he was taking offers.
99% of the time when anyone throws out eBay prices I just thank them for their time and don’t even bother making an offer. I was kind and just told him I didn’t want to insult him with an offer.
He replied back and said he appreciated my honesty and that he also had an Atari XE in the box as well as a JVC X-eye and some games. Now I’m interested.
We exchange a couple emails and finally land on a price for everything. He asks about arrangements, I tell him where I live, and he then tells me he’s in Minnesota.
I automatically assume this is a scam or I’m being trolled, so I tell him I’m sorry but I only buy locally as there’s just too much risk otherwise. He asks what he can do to make it easier?
I suggested to just send me the Xeye and Sega CD games for an appropriate portion of the money and I’d send him PayPal. At this point, I kinda felt I’d be scammed but worst case I was out a few hundred dollars until PayPal refunded me.
Well, wouldn’t you know this actually showed up today!
The Jaguar and Atari XE stuff will be here soon!

Hey guys -
Looking for some new games for my fiancé and I to play - neither of us are exactly superstar gamers so it can’t be anything too challenging. At the same time, we don’t want something that’s too easy and boring.
Some games we’ve enjoyed:
LEGO Harry Potter
LEGO Star Wars
Currently playing New Super Mario Bros Wii
Games we didn’t enjoy:
Wii Tangled
Epic Mickey 2
Toy Story 3
Systems we have:
NES, SNES, Genesis (full libraries on Pi)
N64
PS1/PS2
Xbox, Xbox One
Wii/Gamecube
Switch (would prefer to stay away from these until my controller comes back from joycon repair)
As you can see by the games we’ve played, we play stuff she likes haha. I play my games after she falls asleep, which is thankfully around 9pm

Ahhh the glory days of 2007-2008 when things were just starting to heat up, but not everyone was on board yet. It was almost too easy to find games cheap.
That said, I wouldn’t trade those days for all the advancements we’ve made since then.

PS1 runs pretty good, dreamcast and n64 not so much.
As for buying one preloaded you can also download a preloaded image and flash it your sd card.
Way too dumb to do that haha
I think I found one that will work for my needs, we shall see

Ah, it might be the emulators are there, you just need to add ROMs to the specific folders. The selection menu doesn't usually display the emulators unless you have ROMs for them on the SD card (so you're not scrolling through forty or so systems you don't have any games for.)
Are you using a Pi3 or Pi4? Playstation should be decent, Sony didn't make it super complex like the N64. I have no idea on Dreamcast, so someone who is familiar will have to chime in.
I have a Pi3. The research I’ve done so far it seems like I really need a Pi4
-
2 minutes ago, Tulpa said:
A standard RetroPie installation should have more emulators than that, including the three you listed. They might need to be enabled in the menu. Did your Pi come preloaded with ROMs already?
N64 emulation has always been kind of hit or miss, due to the complexity of that console.
Yeah I bought it pre-loaded, the extra money is well worth it for me because it would take me weeks to DL everything and figure it out
-
Need some help from the Raspberry Pi experts!
My current Pi is running RetroPie and I love it. Simple, easy to use, looks good. The only downfall is that it only has emulators and ROMs for NES/SNES/Genesis/GB/GBC/Atari
I see a lot of them advertised that have N64, PS1, Dreamcast, etc - are these any good? I’ve always heard emulation sucks for those consoles?
If it is good, any recommendations on where I can get one pre-loaded? Zero chance I’ll ever load my own.
Thanks!

I will second the 8bitdo wireless stuff with a Bluetooth adapter if needed. Also I have a retrobit wireless Saturn controller. Has adapters for the console and Bluetooth. I use both on MiSTer with great results. The Pi should be the same way.
Thanks everyone!
I may go the Saturn route so I can use it with Neo as well. I hate the sticks and the bean, and the CD controller wears out so fast

Hey everyone - I’ve been out for a while and need some help with the following (completely unrelated) questions:
1. What are some good (and super easy to set up) controllers for a raspberry pi? We have USB SNES controllers but the cables are wayyyy too short. Please note that I’m really dumb and easily frustrated. Easy to set up is just as important as quality. We use them a lot though so quality is important. Cost isn’t really a concern.
2. What’s the best place to get box protectors these days? I’m looking at needing maybe 50 NES, 25 SNES and 25 N64.
Thank you!

I’m probably showing my age here but I just absolutely cannot get into any YouTubers.
The boring, no personality ones put me to sleep.
The “sit in front of a shelf of games and swear a lot” thing was never cool.
The try-too-hard AVGN character types must be entertaining to some, but it makes me cringe.
The “game chasers” genre is basically just poorly scripted American Pickers with low production quality.
That all said, I did enjoy the video game historian guy. Is he still around? I refuse to search for it because I don’t want AVGN in my suggested videos.
Maybe I should use a private browser and treat YouTube like the Hub.

Hey all -
I'm just bored of looking at these things and I'm looking to trade or sell. Will sell as a lot for $50 plus shipping (I'm in Pittsburgh 15202). I'd prefer to trade, so my trade wants are at the bottom!
My NA feedback was over 250 and flawless, plenty here would vouch for me.
PS2 Shadow of the Colossus
PS2 Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System
PS1 Tamamayu Monogatari
PS1 Culdcept Expansion
PS1 Wild Arms
PS1 Final Fantasy VIIWANTED (I can add PayPal to the deal if need be)
Wii system (GC compatible) with 2 Wiimotes & 2 nunchucks and all hookups (prefer component video but will live with AV) some games would be nice
N64 system with 2 controllers & all hookups - some games would be nice
Good SNES USB controllers with long cables (need 2)
Sealed Madden games
Mint CIB Madden games -
Serious buyer looking for any of the following consoles that are fairly priced - I don't care much about serial numbers and RGB and all that jazz, so I'm not gonna pay up for it.
- Neo Geo AES USA version (just need console & power cord, but will buy a full console)
- Neo Geo AES JPN version MUST HAVE UNIBIOS (just need console & power cord, but will buy a full console)
- Neo Geo consolized MVS - must be housed in something, I don't need them as pretty as an Omega but I don't want a bare board either.
PayPal is always ready to go. Had over 250 feedback on NA and plenty here could vouch for me. Thanks!

It makes me so happy to see a Neo Geo thread

So I went to both of my local exchange stores - not a single madden game under $4. Stupid COVID prices.
This also serves as a bump.

Hey all - looking to move some of this stuff. I’d love if you bought or traded for more than one thing because my box selection is low. I do have some bigger boxes that would fit 2-3 of these items nicely.
Also, if you’re within driving distance of Pittsburgh I’d strongly prefer to hand these off rather than ship. I’d also be willing to trade for just about any games of value if you’re local. Much easier for me to ship!
I had over 250 feedback on NA and have over 12,000 eBay feedback. Lots of guys here could vouch for me.
Wanted list at the bottom.
