  1. Hey all,

Maybe my Googling is bad, but I can't seem to find what I feel is a reliable answer yet. I'm looking to replace the caps in all of my games and I was wondering if anyone knew if most games used the same sized caps and what values they are. I know there's some odds ones like Starfox, Mega Man X2/3, Mario RPG etc. on SNES but typically SNES seems to have a similar sized cap for most other games.

The consoles I'm looking into currently are:

NES, Famicom, SNES, Super Famicom(probably the same as SNES) N64, SMS, Genesis, Mega Drive(J), Gameboy, Game Gear.

Some of these games may not even use caps for all I know but I wanted to reach out to the community first to see if anybody else has done research on this topic before I go opening up a ton of my games.

Still thinking how I want to tackle opening Mega Drive(J) games, assuming I need to. That's gonna be tricky.

Thank you for any help at all!

Hey @AppleKid, I have a huge stack of EGMs, Nintendo Powers, PSM, GameFan, and tons of others if you're still interested. I have around 1,000 mags total if I had to guess.

I'll send you a PM to get some more info, thanks Jack.

I have a few random old Nintendo Power magazines and guides if interested.  Not looking to get rich off them either as they're some doubles I ended up with.

I know at the least I have:
    NP #22 (Metal Storm)
NP #19 (4 Player Extra guide)
    Top Secret Passwords
    Super Gameboy

Might have more, would need to check.  I'd ship the stuff media mail to keep the price low as possible.

Not magazines, but I do have 2 other guide/books too from the PC side:
    - Sam & Max Hit the Road Official Hint Book
    - Official Guide to Roger Wilco Space Adventures Space Quests I-IV

Hi Tanooki. I don't need any of those but thank you for letting me know 😄 If you do end up finding more feel free to lemme know, thanks!

Any interest in the demo disks that went with that era of magazine? Or primarily collecting the paper?

I have a sizable collection of demo disks I saved from a subscription to one of the off-brand/competitors of PC Gamer. (Computer Games Magazine, maybe?)

Cool that you have those but nah, I'm just looking for the paper. It's just fun to read for nostalgia 😄

There's a few repro stores out there that likely have NES carts available.   OCD Reproductions or Flashback Games come to mind.  Not sure if they'd do you up a fc cart.

Does it have to be dedicated?  For the price of a couple hack carts, you could get an Everdrive or PowerPak and put all the hacks you want on it.

    Hey James,

Thank you for the reply. I can check those 2 sites out if nobody on here is able/interested. As for a dedicated cart it's mostly because I don't really have any other interest in NES hacks aside from this one and I do like a dedicated cart for ROM hacks that really stand out to me.

    Thanks again!

  5. Hello everyone,

I'm looking for someone that can make homebrew NES/Famicom carts, preferably Famicom. I would also prefer to use an original PCB over a new one.

I don't need a custom label made, but if you do that as well I would be interested.

Basically I'm looking to have a dedicated cartridge that can play the Metroid 1 hack called 'Metroid - Rogue Dawn', if it's even possible to run on a cart that is. Here is the link to the site:

    https://metroidconstruction.com/hack.php?id=441

Does anybody know of someone on this site that is able to make homebrew carts for a reasonable price?

Thank you for any help provided!

Happy to help!   Scott has done many discs for me (mostly Wii) and they look amazing.

Well I definitely appreciate it. I was looking around Ebay at first but that always feels kinda sketchy. Even though the sites different, NA always felt like a safe place for me.

I sent him like 12 discs. Random fodder from over the years that I acquired that I'd like to clean up 😛

    I'm excited! 😄
