  1. A bit less than 2000 I would guess (I should probably recount sometime soon) the two biggest components being in the NES and a sizable (~240) original Xbox collection.  I used RFgeneration to track everything but NES and then Google Sheets to keep track of my NES stuff.  Pretty happy with where I'm at, and now I really only look for a few rare NES variants and international versions of Super Mario Bros.  And I have hundreds of NES games I need to sell that I didn't include in the count haha.  Damn I have a lot to do.

Are you interested in later-release Konami five-screw variants in general? I think I have a five-screw Base Wars somewhere.

Yes I collect konamis 5 screws

Already have Base Wars but I might be interested if it's in great condition.

  3. Made these pictures for a buddy who requested them, but I might as well share it with the community as well.  This is my Super Mario Bros international variant collection.  A few years ago, I bought this collection from a fellow NintendoAger on eBay and I've continued to add to it, it's approximately 50% bigger than it was when I bought it.

This is a picture of all the front label and form factor variations, and every game that is identical aside from the back label is stacked.  Especially in Europe, the only way to tell a game is from a different country is on the back label, and those are all stacked.  France, for example, has a bunch of games with the same form factor and front label with back labels indicating they're from France (FRA), Holland (HOL), France and Holland (FAH), and Britain, Italy and Oceania (EAI).

Right now I'm only collecting SMB, not SMB/DH, SMB/DH/WCTM, or any other variation.  Once I complete this collection, I will probably start going for all the multi carts as well.  SMB/DH is the cart I played Mario on growing up, and I didn't even know there was a standalone SMB game until I started collecting, so it makes sense to go for those too eventually.

What am I still looking for?  Well...

    • black Samurai - Samurai label, as in the ones at the end of the 5th row, but with black plastic instead of white.
    • South African (SAF) version - this was the Hong Kong version (end of 6th row) with an orange sticker on it that indicated South African Version.

Hit me up if you have what I need and are willing to part with it.  Otherwise, thanks for checking out my collection!

  4. Thanks for checking out my FT thread :).

I have several rare NES variants FOR TRADE ONLY.  I'm unwilling to sell these; I want to trade these toward specific rare variants which I have listed.  I'm willing to trade several games I have for a single game I want.  If you don't have a game on my wanted list, I'd rather hang onto what I have.  Eventually I will want to sell some of this stuff, but not yet.  Sorry and thanks for understanding.  If you want to sell me a game I want, that's definitely cool too.

Here's what I have for trade:

    • Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt/World Class Track Meet 5 screw
    • Castlevania oval 5 screw
    • Castlevania II 5 screw
    • Contra 5 screw
    • Super C 5 screw
    • Snake's Revenge 5 screw
    • Base Wars 5 screw
    • Silent Service 5 screw
    • Tecmo NBA N7 (x3)
    • TMNT 2 5 screw (x2)
    • TMNT 5 screw (x2)
    • DK Jr 3 screw (x2)
    • Skate or Die 5 screw
    • Ski or Die 5 screw
    • Mega Man 6 Capcom (x2)
    • Mega Man 6 Playtronic
    • NTF2 test cart
    • Control Deck test cart
    • Gold Playtronic Super Spike V'Ball / World Cup (VG condition)

    Here's what I want:

    • Stadium Events 5 screw
    • Rollergames 5 screw
    • Castlevania 3 5 screw
    • MTPO, orange bullets, no code 5 screw
    • Mission Impossible 5 screw
    • Defender of the Crown 5 screw
    • Tiny Toon Adventures 5 screw
    • Kings of the Beach 5 screw
    • Donkey Kong Jr. Math 3 screw
    • Chiller blue cart

  5. I'm familiar with this particular cart (the suspect one), and the pictures you posted above are the same ones I have saved to my computer from the ebay listing.  I had my eye on it for a while, but decided I thought it was a label transplant once the ebay seller posted more pictures of it.  If it is a transplant, I highly doubt the dude you bought it from was the one who did it, and I've bought several nes variants from him that were all legit, and he usually hooked me up with a discount when I bought several games at once.  He's a good dude.  this one looks bad though.  the MTPO shows up in a 5 screw with the first edition label and the third edition label, and every 5 screw I've seen with this 2nd edition label has looked like a clear label transplant to me.

Everything looks legit on the other one though 👍.

  6. It's been a great summer. Was fortunate to find a couple Konami 5 screws that I was mentally prepared never to find, as well as a Rad Racer -1, and a French and a Scandinavian variant of SMB that I didn't know existed.  Only 2 or 3 more Marios before I'd consider that collection complete.  Anybody have a black Samurai (that you want to sell and not just tease me with 😛)?

  7. Yes.  Now it's all about my two focused collections which are international Super Mario Bros variants and rare NES variants.  I'm limiting my search for the rare variants to just major variants, which I define as screw, seal and part # variants.  No trademarks or Made in Japan's except when those signify a variant of a major variant.  I'm almost at the point in both collections where all I have left are the super rares.  Got about 5 Marios and 10 rare variants left before I'm satisfied, but that doesn't mean the finish line is close.  I'll probably never get ahold of a 5 screw Stadium Events, for example.

Alright, I just want to first off offer up an apology to both @wyansas and @Code Monkey ; I may have gone off the deep end a bit, but as with all things of this nature, there are layers of backstories and information not publicly available, with even the owner telling me that he wanted to hold onto the game for now as opposed to selling it. Sadly we live in a world where people are quick to try to prey on others (I personally had this happen twice here at VGS with VGS members), so I was just trying to help out a friend. I'm not going to talk more on this point, but just letting both of you know that I am sorry for jumping to conclusions on your intentions.

Regarding value, if the owner of the cartridge does decide to sell the cartridge at some point, I'd personally be willing to pay more than $500 or whatever that one of the other posters suggested as the value for first party European samples. This one is Mario, I personally believe it has more value, and although I am not in the position to be offering 30K for it, for example, I would be willing to pay more than that suggested "going rate". In the end though, if I were the owner and wanted to sell, I'd throw it on ebay or someplace and wait to see what the highest offer is, as a significant game as Super Mario Bros. is hard to put a price on, in this sort of item, even if it is byte for byte identical with the original game.

Thank you, apology accepted, but I would also appreciate if you cleared my name with the owner, if you did implicate me in any way to them.
