Best NBA 2K Game?

2K15 came with my PS4 when I bought it and I had a lot of fun with it.  I don't play online., I really enjoyed the MyCareer mode and the MyGM mode.  I got really ticked off at the reliance on virtual currency in MyGM as I could buy the team for 50 VC, which I somehow earned through the game, but by the time I got their the server was down and ... well I could buy the team but couldn't.

I also have 2K16 which I played for a few minutes and didn't really give it a chance.  Mainly because my player was so God awful I didn't think he deserved to be in the NBA, and it felt like a pay to win scenario.  Full disclosure I like playing games but I am actually not that good at games so I understand that some of this could have been a PICNIC error.

Anyway, I've been getting the itch to play again and wondered if I should look at grabbing a more recent release for the PS5?  Really appreciate your thoughts.
