Other countries dont make them because we have labor laws.

And I looked for a ps5 for a year (at a reasonable price) and couldnt find one so I said fuck it and went in on PC gaming for current/future Gen.

I can't man, I don't know why but something about console has me stuck.  I was able to get my Xbox at launch thankfully, and if I was without one for some reason I'd just stick to the retro goodness.  Maybe that would be the push I need to find/buy a turbo duo

Another Little Samson on eBay over $2k with 8 days to go. Guess this is the new norm...

Yeah I'm just not buying it again at this point lol.  Last licensed I need besides SE (sold a CIB way back when).  I passed on it at $400, no chance I'm paying over 2 grand for one of the most overhyped games of all time.

Don't mug yourself dude, do whatever you need to do to extract the highest possible value from your games! If there are fools willing to spend 2, 4, 10 times more for the exact same thing except with a number slapped on top, who are YOU to deny them their sweet investment potential?!!! 😉

I mean when you put it that way, I guess I've violated my personal code for much less.  😂

Good move, band-aid is ripped off, now you can smoothly sail through what I had been doing just ahead of the waves created a decade ago.  I got a lot of NES, then as it got weird, dumped the less cared, used it 100% to do SNES, etc.  It worked wonders being able to enjoy some, keep a few, then buy the next thing and have it covered to avoid the pains.  In the end you find you have a lot less, but the quality outweighs the quantity which is a good thing.  (Oof...wish I still had EVO.)

Nice, man... glad it worked out. I sold off a bunch of stuff and it was a win-win for me. I had extra cash and got rid of stuff I knew I would never touch again freeing up space. Liberating feeling once you get going and see that cash rolling in to spend on other stuff or re-invest for better quality into your collection. Besides the truly rare/sealed/graded stuff I personally think we've seen the major price bumps even if prices continue to generally go up.

It really was like a band-aid and felt a thousand times better.  It was the first time I let go of a bunch of stuff.  I am definitely going to surprise my wife with a vacation and tell her how the video games paid for it after we get there.  I have a few sealed games that aren't anything crazy (opened all of those over the last 15 years) but I'm debating if I should let go of them raw because I'm so opposed to grading.

Do it! Start with games you don't have much attachment to and don't think have a significant jump ahead of them. I paid off a 10K car loan in 2 months by only selling a handful of CIBs and I didn't even touch my bank account. I am also thinking of throwing some bigger titles up so I can potentially buy some land or a new (to me) 2nd car.

I took your advice, now I'm debating what to do with all this extra.  It did feel great getting rid of stuff I wasn't attached to though.  I used some of the profits to grab a few of my favorites CIB like EVO, MMX 3, and others.  Thanks for the advice!

A buddy and I (the_wizard_666) went to the Classic Gaming Expo in 2007 in Las Vegas, and while we were there he bought a sealed Panic Restaurant for $150, which he then opened for the sealed contents list.  At the time, people didn't mock him for opening a sealed game,  but they did mock him relentlessy for paying such a ridiculous amount for a sealed Panic Restaurant.  My how the times have changed!  At least I got the mint box and manual when he decided to abandon his CIB dreams and go loose... 😉

He (the_wizard) is the reason I popped so many sealed games right around 2010ish.  I don't regret it at all, and honestly the butt hurt reactions from people far exceeds any monetary losses from opening games like Kid Clown, LoZ, Gun+Nac, and dozens of others.  I just wish I had traded some of those boxes and manuals for a Dino Peak box back then.

That's honestly what I'm thinking.  Certain games that I can always go back and enjoy are never leaving.  But do I care about Super Bowling, Sculptors Cut, stuff like that... I'm not so sure anymore due to what the hobby is becoming 😕

    👁️👄👁️

I'm looking for DK Math, FFF:AW, Chubby, Bonk's, Zombie Nation, and the big Taito 5 (F2, BB2, PB2, Panic, Samson) as long as they're all complete. Exception for Chubby, FFF:AW, and DK Math if they're half decent boxes with in tact hangtabs.

Maybe not all at once though...

Haha unfortunately NES would probably be the only untouched system, also a DK Math box, you honor me 😂.  I mistakenly dumped that years ago for a handful of N64 CIBs

Really sorry to hear about your grandfather. Hope you're doing OK mentally, in spite of that and having to face the pandemic head-on. I also hope the loss of your grandfather gave that person in your family a new perspective on the disease, but knowing people like that personally, my hopes aren't high.

We're all doin' OK, best as I can tell. Me and my family did come down with it last month, but very thankfully we all only had very minor cases of it, and the only lasting effect of it has been the partial loss of my ability to taste and smell, but hopefully that won't last forever, and I'm just glad I didn't completely lose it like some people have. Initially I did, but very slowly it's been coming back. Of course none of the other people in my family even experienced that symptom, just me. Lucky bastards, haha. None of us even experienced trouble breathing or anything, and only one of us even got a minor fever, so we definitely got very lucky in that regard. Especially my father, who despite being an overweight asthmatic with a family history of many many other health issues, came out of it completely fine, which was a big concern for me as we were going through it. I'm just glad we're just barely starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with this whole catastrophe.

Still though, enough talkin' about us, how are things going with you? Hopefully as well as things could be going, despite the circumstances.

Thankfully my uncle has since changed his mind about all of it, I just wish it didn't come at the cost it did.  Mentally I was pretty rough for awhile, getting home from a 12 hour shift and drinking myself to sleep 5 nights a week.  I finally had to use our hospital psych services and thankfully that helped enough.  I'm back to just social fun drinking at least, but I still have strong urges to hit people with their charts when I start hearing a conspiracy theory.  I am also glad we are making some progress, but I think the minor restrictions still in place will remain for the entire year of 2021 (masks in stores, limited capacity in major venues).

Thanks for sharing though, and I'm glad you and your family are all okay!  My brother didn't have taste or smell for 3 months and it finally came back, so hopefully that's the case for you too.

Welcome to the thread, fellow champion. We'll obviously let crabby take a stab at Mutant Virus, since he needs to beat it for his personal list as well. Is there anything you would like to play?

Unfortunately with work (Covid) I don't have hardly any free time right now, this is my first time logging on in at least a month.  Hopefully that changes soon and I'll see what strikes my eye.  Good to see you all plugging away though!

2015 was probably the wildest year of this competition. We were also playing the 30-something licensed PAL exclusives as well as the standard North American list. The list burned up so fast in large part because of the furious race for #1 between @Doctornickand @BeaIank. Bea scored more than 690 points and still lost. And Nick literally passed her for first place with The Mutant Virus, which was the very last game on the list.

(Bea started her eventual 2016 championship run by beating The Mutant Virus on New Year's Day.)

That game still gives me PTSD.  Never again lol
