Here's the first episode of LRG's 'retrospectives' by Jeremy Parish. I'll probably keep watching these, but man this game lost my attention quick.
I'll have to watch this later, but as someone who has sat through literally all 120+ of his Game Boy Works videos, Parish is very good even when he's covering even highly mediocre games. With that said, as a Limited Run employee he's basically doing in-house PR work for a retail outlet, so I'm interested to see if and how it impacts his coverage over time.

Finally got my order for Streets of Rage 4 on Switch today! Had been stuck in the mail for some reason. Worth the wait!
I'm tracking mine and it's been sitting at the same USPS facility for a week. Driving me nuts.

100% 'ed Yoku's Island Express on Switch. You don't often see a game nail two genres at once, but this one is not only a great Metroidvania-style platformer, it's also probably the best pinball video game I've ever played. Beautiful graphics, not too long, and a fun kid-friendly story. Also, your character is a dung beetle. Rad. I'm definitely coming back to this one again.

I beat Hotline Miami for the first time on Switch, as part of the Hotline Miami Collection. This was my second attempt at this one -- I originally gave it a crack on PC years ago but put it down because at the time I thought it was too tense and difficult. Ironically I got the Switch to play more relaxing titles before bed, but I love the art style and decided I had to get a physical copy with they came up for sale a few months ago on SRG / LRG. It's an extremely well-made game with super-tight controls, well thought-out level designs, amazing music, and of course that totally wild aesthetic. Even the difficulty wasn't that bad once you get into the game's rhythm, and torching through a stage on a successful run makes you feel like some kind of Russian-Mafia-crushing ninja.
I'm now about three levels into the sequel and unfortunately it doesn't feel nearly as polished. The focus on gameplay seems to have been backburnered somewhat to make way for a convoluted story, which was probably the weakest part of the first game. I'm hoping my experience improves as things go on.

We've got both Blaster Master 0 and the sequel coming this Friday.
I just finished Zero last week. It's a lot of fun and a huge improvement on the NES original (which, although innovative, was not fun). Looks like all DLC will be included for both releases.

@dvertov i think i may release some game genie codes soon that should help out poor folks like you . it would be very easy to start with 99 lives for example, probably extra hearts each life would be an easy add as well.
Ha, thanks. I'm getting better. Probably not going to try brutal mode anytime soon, though.

The horror.....
The horror...
We need to have a movie poll about Apocalypse Now.
"I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. I watched someone pay $3120 for a shit copy of God of War. That's my dream. That's my nightmare: crawling, slithering, along the edge of the graded game market and getting a 1000x return on investment." - Colonel Walter "NEScollectahzzz87" Kurtz

Oof, the dam was about to break on my last game -- ended up 4-0 but felt like it should have been 10-0. I guess the Japanese 'keeper was having a good night? Unfortunately I'm offline this weekend so I'll have to leave the record-setting to the rest of you. Really mind-blowing scores here, great work.

I’m about 20 minutes in and I can already tell I’m going to be very bad at this game. Seriously though, great work. Glad to be a backer.

Somehow managed to get 11-1 in a weird game. It was 6-0 two minutes in. Got to 9-0 by half. Nobody scored for the next 2.5 minutes until I let in a goal. Then finished off with 2 goals.
Holy crap

That was a grind, man. I'd recommend putting on a good podcast.

To bump: I am somewhat embarrassed to report I hit a new score of 398. Why are all those zeros there? I asked The New 8-Bit Heroes' Twitter account if anyone had ever hit 1,000 but I haven't heard back yet.

That is an insane amount
I can see how it would be possible, but you'd have to get really lucky with the item drops. And have a ridiculous amount of patience.

The best strategy I've found is to not bother using the pass button at all. I just kick it as close to the other goal as I can, and hope to get off a good shot with a rebound or a lucky tackle (my tackles only work about 10% of the time).

I prefer Nintendo World Cup. Halfway through my first game here and I am definitely in the mood to punch some of these dudes.

This was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the excuse to finally take a serious crack at this game. One day I hope to get past the last 0.01% and beat it! (Seriously, that final gate is such a cheap trick I feel like it would be a notorious meme if more people had gotten that far, like the speedbike level in Battletoads.)

Do you guys pronounce it Gray-dius or Grad-dius? I always pronounce it the former.
Since I became a Retronauts fan it's been the latter, although I always feel like a dork for doing it. Like pronouncing "anime" AH-nee-may. Just give me a wedgie already.

I would love to see a list like this. This guy has put in some similar work that may give a decent starting point... (apologies if the TG-16 rom set link is not ok and I will remove, but I couldn't find a similar list on the associated website).
