  1. The Basic Sets. First one is a thin cardboard box with styrofoam tray. Second one is a thick cardboard box with sticker seals and Proof of Purchase on the back. The inner tray is now part of the cardboard box and is non-removable. Third one is the same as the second one but made in China and has a slightly different inner flap.
  2. I have this Super NES Mario Set and there is a sticker on the front that seems to say something about a 2nd SNES controller. It has perforations on the bottom edge so it must have been a mail away form. I've seen some other Mario Sets that have this same sticker at this angle, and on some others the cardboard is torn away at this same spot. Does anyone have a picture of what the full sticker/sheet is?
  3. I thought I would share the different revisions/variants of the US Game Boy Tetris console boxes I came across. They have changed the boxes several times despite the product code on the inner flap sometimes remaining the same. Front. DMG-GBTR-USA DMG-GBTR-USA-1 (1st version) Changed screenshot from green to yellow. The image is also different. DMG-GBTR-USA-1 (2nd version) Changed the mark next to the SoQ from TM to R. DMG-GBTR-USA-2 DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (1st version) Changed "Video Link" to "Game Link". DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (2nd version) Changed the mark next to GB logo from TM to R. DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (3rd version, thick) Changed the material of the box from thin cardboard with styrofoam tray to thick cardboard with egg carton-type tray. Added sticker seals to the left and right sides. C/DMG-GATR-USA-1 Removed the screenshot on the console. Since it no longer includes the link cable and headphones, changed the yellow text at the bottom. The font for the text under the GB logo is thinner and the size of the R marks are different. All of the logos are slightly shifted. Back. DMG-GBTR-USA DMG-GBTR-USA-1 (1st version) Changed screenshot from green to yellow. The image is also different. Moved the barcode from the side and rearranged the SoQ and copyright text. DMG-GBTR-USA-1 (2nd version) Changed the mark next to the SoQ from TM to R. DMG-GBTR-USA-2 Changed the image of the kids with red background to kids with gray background. DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (1st version) Changed "Video Link" to "Game Link". Added Proof of Purchase with serial number sticker. C/DMG-GATR-USA-1 Completely redesigned. Inner flap with product code. Top. DMG-GBTR-USA DMG-GBTR-USA-1 (1st version) DMG-GBTR-USA-1 (2nd version) DMG-GBTR-USA-2 DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (1st version) DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (2nd version) Changed the mark next to GB logo from TM to R. DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (3rd version, thick) C/DMG-GATR-USA-1 Changed from Made in Japan to Made in China. Added text stating the Game Pak is made in Japan. Bottom. DMG-GBTR-USA DMG-GBTR-USA-1 (1st version) DMG-GBTR-USA-1 (2nd version) DMG-GBTR-USA-2 DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (1st version) DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (2nd version) Changed the mark next to GB logo from TM to R. DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (3rd version, thick) C/DMG-GATR-USA-1 Changed from Made in Japan to Made in China. Added text stating the Game Pak is made in Japan. Left. DMG-GBTR-USA DMG-GBTR-USA-1 (1st version) Moved the barcode to the back and rearranged the warranty text. DMG-GBTR-USA-1 (2nd version) DMG-GBTR-USA-2 Replaced the Compact Carrying Case with the Hip Pouch Carrying Case. Photos are changed from red background to gray background. Added Mexico to the "For Sale and Use In" text and realigned to the left. DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (1st version) DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (2nd version) Changed the mark next to GB logo from TM to R. Changed the warranty text and placed in a red box. realigned the "For Sale" text again. DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (3rd version, thick) Added sticker seals. C/DMG-GATR-USA-1 Replaced Hip Pouch with Game Link and rearranged some text. Added Rental and Latin America to the "For Sale" text. Right. DMG-GBTR-USA DMG-GBTR-USA-1 (1st version) Changed the screenshots from green to yellow. The images are also different. DMG-GBTR-USA-1 (2nd version) DMG-GBTR-USA-2 DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (1st version) Changed "Video Link" to "Game Link". DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (2nd version) Changed the mark next to GB logo from TM to R. Changed the screenshots from yellow to white. DMG-GBTR-USA-3 (3rd version, thick) Added sticker seals. Changed the screenshots to yellow. C/DMG-GATR-USA-1 Completely redesigned to advertise the Super Game Boy. I have also seen a DMG-GBTR-USA-3 that has the serial number of the console handwritten on the back instead of being on a printed barcode. It must have been very briefly used before switching to the more common barcode serials.
  4. I'm hoping someone here knows more about these. I have this Canadian NES Basic Set but the console, box and manual seems to be mismatched. The box and manual both have the 1-800-255-3700 phone number but the console has the (416) 252-GAME phone number. Also the console is labeled Mattel Canada, but there is no mention of Mattel on either the box or the manual. I found an ebay listing that also has this same mismatched setup. Does anyone know if these were how it originally came, or did someone piece them together? I also have another version of the box with a "Bonus 2nd Controller Included" sticker and it came with a later version of the manual. The previous owner wrote the serial number of the original console on the front of the box and it doesn't match the console included, so I know that this one was pieced together. I'm not sure but I am thinking that the original console may be a late model with the red phone number sticker and the sticker with both the US and Canadian regulations, like this one:
  5. Yeah I have that version and it is one of the last versions of the gray DMG that was released in 1995 or after. Console is Made in China, motherboard DMG-CPU-08 with glob-top chips. Box is a thick cardboard with egg carton style tray instead of thin cardboard with styrofoam tray from the early versions. No longer includes the link cable or headphones. Also it has that weird looking blank screen on the front image.
  6. Some DMG accessories like the rechargeable battery pack came with a bag for the inserts, so it is odd that the consoles didn't come with one.
  7. It looks like that Tetris cart doesn't have a bag either, but that's a late model DMG from after 1995. I've seen some early model DMG's that came with a plastic bag for Tetris.
  8. It's an epilepsy warning. I've seen a few of them in the Basic Sets.
  9. Hello, does anyone know if the original Game Boy DMG-01 consoles originally came with plastic bags for the manuals/paperwork? For the Game Boy+Tetris console packs I know that everything else came wrapped in their own plastic bag (console, link cable, Tetris cart/case) or came sealed in plastic (headphones, AA batteries). But I have never seen any used cib consoles that have a plastic bag for the manuals/paperwork/poster. Did they originally come in a bag and people lost them over time, or did they never have a bag? I have all the other Game Boy consoles (Pocket/Light/Color/Advance/SP/Micro) and they all came with a plastic bag for the manual/paperwork, so it seems strange that the DMG doesn't have one while everything else in the box has a bag.
