  1. If you look at all the charts on VGPC or GameValueNow, you can see the CARE Act bump, and it flatlined the exact same time the CARE stimulus ran out. Unless congress approves another stimulus, I get the feeling its going to drop back down again.

I always play the homebrews I buy, if only for some sort of unofficial respect to their creators (most don't actually know I played their game in all honesty), but it is important for me to give them some minimal play time as I'm aware some folks poured a lot of time to make them as a hobby,

As a homebrewer, this is what I want the most - people to see all the content we generate. I'm including things like an easy mode just to help people get through the game.

  4. I asked this question on the previous forum, but I always like to read responses.

I LOVE playing Battle Kid 1 & 2. I've beaten the first quite a few times. The 2nd I've never finished, but come close .

Armed for Battle saw a lot of play, but not in campaign mode. Streamerz still gets played every once in a while. Played a ton of versus frogger championship. Beat a handful of others.

Anyway, as someone making a couple homebrews (for the Turbografx) I am always interested in who plays their homebrews to completion. Like, will all the content I generate be seen?

I felt that the most recent episode was similar to last week's.  I enjoyed the story, but I felt that the side characters were really annoying.

There's been 6 episodes, and 3 have been "Mando does a job and gets betrayed."

Also, how does everyone know it's "Mando" they've known, and not a different Mandolorian? He has new armor. Also, how dumb is "Mando" as a nick name? He's one of an entire race, why is his nickname a shortened version of his race name. Imagine if they called a human "Hum" for short. It'd be ridiculous.

Further, the show really doesn't seem to be "going" anywhere. Like, 6 out of 8 episodes, and really only the first established any plot.

I love Baby Yoda. I like the concept. The execution has really really been lacking.

small update:  i decided to sell battle sport since im not a big saturn fan and was eyeing mega man 8 or mega man x4.  i checked price charting to see what it was going for since ebay doesn't yield results.  average price was 330 on pricecharting give or take complete but it had been about 6 months since a complete copy had sold (for 400) so i decided to try high and see how it would go.  i post it at 500 dollars  i start getting watchers almost immediately.  so i decide to press my luck a bit more and set it to 600 dollars.  about 3am it sold  no joke. 3am lol and i posted it at 11am.  the guy said he had been looking for a long time for it to complete his saturn collection.  and just 30 minutes later i got an offer for 1000.  im not joking.  i afraid i might have started another little Samson price jump cause i genuinely didn't expect to get over 450 at the most for it.  anyways the guy got his game he was so happy to complete his saturn collection 😛

Damn, I'm so glad I got this game when I did. I think I paid $180.

  7. When I was playing MTG 20 some years ago, I would get as many Drudge Skeletons as a I could. I probably had 3-400, but it didn't impact the market. It was a 10c card, millions were printed. Common as you could get. People going for 1000s of Dragon Warrior carts or Keith Courage can't affect the market. You'd need 100,000 to even have a slight noticeable impact.

What's absolutely crazy to me is that rarity distribution in NES games feels a lot like MTG cards. The major difference is, cards were intended to be common, uncommon, and rare. NES games weren't. People bought the stinker Silent Service by the millions. You see it everywhere. This wasn't intentional. So weird.

  8. Not to mention, a lot of the PAL/J exclusives like Gimmick don't play properly if you buy the PAL version. Better off getting the J version for the ability to play the game. I've got a Mr. Gimmick in my collection, but it's just for show.

Some games,  however, actually stuck with the 60Hz timing. Probotector and Ufouria come to mind.

This, I believe, is the full list of PAL exclusive, licensed NES games.

So I just got my 8 bit xmas 2019 in the mail and I pop it in my nintendo but instead of study hall 2 it starts playing a buggy version of 8bit xmas 2018 so I say to myself better hop on nintendoage and see if anyone else is having this issue and what do I find? No nintendoage. Gone. How does something like this happen? In 2019? It's a travesty!

Anyway I'm here now. I used to go by the name ugopoopy on NA, in case any of you remember me.

Super bummed about losing all my forum badges and transaction feedback from NA.

So, I'm having the same problem with my 2019 cart 😞 I emailed support, and haven't heard back.

Thanks!  I did snag that Space Shuttle back then.  Looking back through my database, it was $17.56 - definitely a nice score.

Yeah, that eBay Dino Park auction was the one I ended up with.

That Crash n Burn longbox is an awesome sleeper pick!  There is definitely not enough recognition for it's rarity.

Thank god I got that at a missed price. I'm still missing DinoPark, Mathemagics, and one other for my long box set. I've kinda written off Dinopark.

You could ask, what about Star Wars.  Well, Star Wars collecting has always been a thing, but it's also a saturated market.  Mr. Lucas, and now Disney, were more than glad to slap a STAR WARS logo on anything for licensing purposes.  I'm sure there are plenty of Star Wars collectors out there, but no one's really chomping at the bits to get into it. There's just to much to collect.  I think, IMHO, it's just to overwhelming, beyond early toys and maybe comics.

This is exactly why I got out of Star Wars collecting. It was overwhelming, the amount of merchandise coming out. You just couldn't keep up.

And Star Wars collecting is really popular, it's just not as popular. Also, MTG has seen some INSANE price ramps. I sold off my P9 in 2005, because I was sure the game couldn't last much longer. Probably could have sold everything now for $50k instead of the $5k I got.

  13. The discussion in the past at NA has always been "What's the next spike?" It made sense, because from 2010 to 2017, prices could only go up. Now, not so much.

It seems like the core systems everyone collects (NES, SNES, N64) have taken a real hit in the market lately. Titles like Kid Klown and Snow Brothers have dropped $100. Other titles have stagnated. Now,  I know that sealed, first print, CIB, and etc are on the rise. This is the question about Basic collectors, the ones that just want one of each loose cart. Are they leaving the market? Selling off their collections? Is NES soon to go the way of Atari 2600, where everything under $50 is worth pennies now? Or are we just in a lull? Will Little Samson ever become a $3000 cart? Or is it destined to crater down to $500? $300?

And lastly, where have all the cowboys gone?

I always thought VGS stood for "Video Games Suck"!

I hate video games, isn't that what we're all here for? Baiting in the dweebs who actually like games so we can make fun of them, while pretending to like them ourselves?

Just me? Well then... Err... How bout them, er, Mario 2, I hear it's great weather for it...

    **Pssh, bunch a dweebs! 🤭**

I have to disagree with you. People have cared for years about the sticker seals and hangtabs. That’s why there were multiple buyers for the gloss SMB even at $100k+. Not all the potential buyers were new collectors.

There are many collectors who paid premiums for hangtab or sticker sealed games. Myself being one of them and I can tell you with 100% certainty others who collected sealed and CIB cared as well. It’s been a thing for as long as I can recall.

It just seems that with the hype, and new money coming in, those pieces in particular have skyrocketed in price, but the demand has always been there for those that collected CIB and sealed. The hangtab and/or sticker sealed games were, and still are, the pinnacle for a LOT of us. Which is why we own them.

I did try to acknowledge that there was a few people interested. However, they were the vast minority to those who cared about Stadium Events or other rarities like the Panesians, Cheetahment II, and etc. Now, this previously niche thing is being treated as the "end all be all" of the hobby, where people like Danielle think you are an idiot for not knowing which print was first.

    WATA is good for:

    - People who work for the company.

    - Their advisory board.

    - People directly affiliated with Heritage/ComicLink/GoCollect.

    - People who have sold for multiples of former “value” on HA and related sites.

    - People who have been part of a manipulative puff piece article as a buyer/seller/member related to the auction house responsible for the sale/WATA owners and advisors.  Often the same person can fall into multiple groups in the above simultaneously.

Seeing the “my first WATA submission” thread on NA shows how they handle a “typical” customer.  They’re turn around tiers are a joke and their communication is worse.  Been a ton of errors in listings on their games since their very short time grading, and obvious things like calling something a hang tab when there very obviously isn’t one present.

Couldn’t be less impressed with the company personally.  Would still consider using them as a profiteering service, but I’m not going to pretend that something like a beat to shit Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is a 4 figure game just because someone wants to spend that much on one.

To me, the saddest thing is that they've essentially created the Action Comics #1 of video game collecting out of thin air.

Very very few people in this hobby gave a shit or even mentioned sticker seal/hang tab games. Things like sealed or CIB Stadium Events were the measure of our hobby. CIB Samson for the lower tier. These things mattered to way more people. So, you have WATA, Dain, and GoCollect making "Sticker Seal SMB" the supposed "Grail" of the hobby. Something almost everyone gave zero shits about 2 years ago. Yes, there were a few people who cared, but they were far from the majority.

Now, we get some B.S. $100k sale for a copy, and it's on the tip of everyone's tongue. It doesn't matter that people who got into the hobby ages ago didn't give half a fuck about it. It's now the grail everyone outside our hobby will discuss. A perfect example is this article:

    https://kotaku.com/deep-pocketed-collectors-are-fueling-a-retro-game-gold-1837073847

“I was surprised at how little knowledge some dealers, that have been doing this for—and I don’t want to say this in a negative way, so please don’t think I am—but they had no idea that, like, a ‘Left Bro’ Super Mario 3 was a first print.” (The first run of boxes for Super Mario Bros. 3 put the “Bros.” in the logo to Mario’s left side, which was changed by the second printing.)

“I was a little mind-blown by that because I’m like, this is your job,” she said. “I think that’s also why they’ve been so undervalued for so long.”at

No. It's because no one fucking cared. I hate this person for telling me what I should care about. I don't care which version of SMB3 I have, whether its a first print or not. In fact, we don't know how long this revision printed for.... so it may even be a third print. But, someone from outside the hobby is telling me to care about it. And is calling it "undervalued." No. It isn't. It's because no one cared. But now people are caring because you told them to.

    That makes me irrationally angry.
