Weird, I'm also emulating but those stairs worked for me, there's a button somewhere that I'm sure you pressed. I see other weird stuff, like sometimes the control stick stops moving Bomberman left or right, and I have to use the D-pad until I finish the level and can reset the game. Also some stuff is invisible that shouldn't be, which is manageable but gets really bad in the casino level. But I can pick this one back up, I've still got my save file.

Turns out I did miss something. They seem to have cut it out of the longplay I checked when I got stuck, but you're supposed to freeze and blow up a fountain to get the stairs down... Fortunately a guide did mention it so I redid the level and the stairs worked this time, I'll keep at it.

The control stick is also an issue for me, but I'm just playing with the D-pad.

This is the bit of the longplay btw, they never blow it up with a fire bomb after they freeze it 😤

  4. Most of my game time this year went towards the N64 topic. Thanks to that I haven't played much on the PS5 I bought yet. In 2024 I also want to push the Gamecube topic a bit. I have some games I definitely want to beat, but I don't want to pin down everything for the year and stuff for completion topics is also dependant on what others beat.
    My goals for 2024 (16/35):

Beat 10 Gamecube games for the topic

    1. PN03
    2. Lost Kingdoms 2
    3. King Kong
    4. Spyro: A Hero's Tail
    5. Ultimate Spider-Man
    6. 1080 Avalanche
    7. Zapper
    8. The Incredibles
    9. 2 more

Beat 10 games for any completion topic (this could be more Gamecube)

    1. Gregory Horror Show (PS2)
    2. Pokemon Blue
    3. 8 more

    Beat 5 games on PS5

    1. The Last of Us 2
    2. Sackboy
    3. A Plague Tale: Innocence
    4. Bugsnax
    5. 1 more

    Beat 5 games on PC

    1. Baldur's Gate 3
    2. Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye
    3. Epistory: Typing Chronicles
    4. Aperture Desk Job
    5. Ghost Recon Wildlands

Beat 5 games that don't fit in the categories above

    1. Deadpool
    2. Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
    3. Psychonauts (XBOX)
    4. Batman Arkham Knight
    5. A Short Hike

    9. Three times more than SM64. But if you want to count only gem mint, then 3 mantles are gem mint, equaling that of SM64. Therefore, SM64 pricing = 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle. This theory proves that SM64 prices are indeed true and accurate so we can now confidently say that myth has been busted.

Why exactly would a 71 year old baseball card and a 27 year old game be equal in price..? 🤨

    baseball cards != videogames

  6. I played it for the first time on the SNES mini, so I have no nostalgia for it. While it was fun to experience the start of a great franchise for a round or 2, I probably won't revisit it.
If I want my Mario Kart fix, I'll go to either Double Dash or the most recent entry.

A lot of graded games are sold or traded in private. This was how I often obtained them for my collection. People would be connected via sealed gaming forums or Facebook etc. People often put in their lower-tier stuff on eBay and the rarer stuff are often kept or dealt with in private. Basically if you truly want the grails with graded stuff, you got to find connections, not look on eBay listings only.

You're the one who mentioned there were plenty on our ebay, I just got curious and checked if they actually sold 😄

The reason I believe there is little interest is because I don't hear much about it on the Dutch gaming forums and discord groups I'm in. There might be other places where people trade graded stuff over here, but I don't know about them.

But again, I'm not against graded games and I wouldn't mind having a couple of my sealed games graded but I don't think it's worth the high cost with shipping and import tax and I'm fine with having those in regular acrilic display cases.

Grading of games was initially a US thing and it started with VGA. This caught on gradually about 10 years ago over to UK and Europe and you can see plenty of VGA Pal games currently on eBay of Europe.

The last few years most of the attention is towards the US again because of the WATA entering the market. Most of the WATA collectors are currently from the US. I would say VGA is still the preferred option over in the Pal regions for the sealed collectors. UKG a popular choice mostly for UK people.

Most graded games you see on european ebay are from the UK and graded by UKG, but if you actually look at the EU only 43 graded games sold in the past 3 months. Even if you do include the UK, there's still only 219 sales in the past 3 months.

There just doesn't seem to be much interest in graded games over here.
