  1. When I started collecting a little over a decade ago I joined a couple of communities and stayed with the 1 I liked. You can find communities for (mostly) new collectors, veterans and mixed and it's up to you to find the community that suits you. If you just start and join a community for veterans I don't think it's their fault if they're not welcoming to all your newbie questions.

I feel like Reddit in particular is pretty newbie centric. The majority of people say things like "I wouldn't spend more than $70 on a game!" which feels like a very newbie centric mentality. Any decently rare, fun game is gonna be over $100 at this point.

I couldn't disagree more, nothing wrong with setting a limit for yourself that makes sense for your budget no matter how long you've been collecting and there's plenty of great games out there that can be found for under $70. You don't have to chase rare/expensive stuff to be a collector.

  2. This is such a good idea for a topic, so much weird shit happens during shipping.

I never wrote my own address on a package, but I did once manage to give a seller the wrong housenumber.
Fortunately the person living there refused to accept the package (big package with some kitchen appliance) and the delivery driver called me so he could still deliver it.

I also have a recent story:
Last september I ordered a game from Australia (I'm in the Netherlands).
After a couple weeks I got an email that it was delivered, but when I checked the tracker it showed it was delivered at an Australian address. Turns out it was send back to a servicepoint because the seller filled something in incorrectly, so I had to contact him to go pick it up and send it again.
After he sent it again according to the tracker it wasn't loaded on the flight it was supposed too and then got stuck on waiting for next plane for a month. When it finally moved it was stuck at customs for almost 2 months.
In january, after 4 months of waiting, it finally arrived.

Damn you beat me to it. I’m only an hour in but am really liking this game so far. Feels like an action puzzle game.

It really has a precursor to Bayonetta vibe to it. It sucks they had to rush this game to release, I feel like they could have done more with it.

So much left on the list and we still manage to hit doubles 😅

Ah, well the genre is a long-beloved one full of history across many major sports, but the football/soccer variety is especially renowned by its fans.  I've played many sports games that require "management," and I want to get myself into one of the games in the Premier Manager series at some point.  As an original user of Commodore computers, I was planning to start there.

I did finally dip into the "Sensible Soccer" ocean in 2022.  I learned to play and played quite a bit of the franchise mode.  It was worth it to understand the history and deep love of that game.  Hoping I discover something similar about Premier Manager someday.  We'll see if it happens in 2024.  If so, I will report back.

I know that there are plenty of people who like these games, but they just aren't for me so maybe I've been overly harsh on it.

I'm curious if I just did something wrong or if your choices really barely matter and it's all random, like it felt to me. Please do let me know if you ever try it.

  5. I beat it last year, but I have no idea what to rate this game. The flying through rings works and is actually enjoyable, but all the short missions in between are laughably bad and if you fail you have to redo the rings.

You will die a lot for stupid reasons because the game is broken, like you take damage during a cutscene or sometimes just fall when you fly into something. As frustrating as these moments can be, it did make me laugh more than most games. I even had 1 mission where I died after finishing a mission 😂

It almost reaches so bad it's good territory for me. I'll just give it a 3.

Reminds me of all the games I have yet to play.  I am dying to hear some anecdotes about Premier Manager 64 all the way down at the bottom.  That is a series that I have considered dipping into (although not the N64 version).

I don't get the appeal of this series, a sports game where you don't even play the sport yourself 🤷‍♂️
I just found it incredibly boring and worst of all it doesn't feel like your choices actually matter. With a setup you can beat 1 team easily with like 3-0 and the next match with the same setup against a lower ranked team you would lose horribly.
I'm tempted to restart it and use savestates before matches to check if my choices actually mattered, but I've already spent more time on this game than it's worth.

I'd rather play Superman 64 than Premier Manager 64, at least Superman at parts reaches so bad it's good territory.

  7. This is a fun idea, here's mine (I didn't order the games within the tiers):

Beat a lot of N64 last year for the completion topic but that affected the tiers for some games like Rampage, which is a decent game if you just play it for a couple levels but a terrible game to actually beat.
