  1. Just beat Metroid Dread.  I really enjoyed it.  There is some control kung-fu and it takes some time to learn what does what, but after you do, Samus movement feels great.  The Bosses are all a challenge, it's really learning the patterns to the attacks and when to counter.  Even with the last boss, once you understand what to do you can probably go back through and beat him on the first or send try (admittedly to learn the best way to beat the final boss I had to watch a couple youtube videos).  The game is somewhat linear but its done in a really smart way, where the game pushes you in a direction without the player really noticing too much.  I enjoyed my time with and and would love to see some DLC.  My ranking of the 2D Metroid games from best to worst.

    1.  Super Metroid
    2.  Metroid Zero Mission
    3.  Metroid Dread
    4.  Metroid
    5.  Metroid Fusion
    6.  Metroid 2 Remake
    7.  Metroid II

It's a tough list, I beat them all and enjoy them all.  Great to see a new one in the series after so long.

Amazing list!  Counting just North America releases, the Wii had the biggest set of any Nintendo System so far with roughly 1240 releases.  How long before Switch passes that?  My guess this time next year for sure.  Switch really shows no sign of slowing down with system sales.  Nintendo hasn't even hinted at a successor, so I'm guessing Switch will be the main system for Nintendo until atleast 2023/24.  It's going to be a huge set.

I think I understand more now why a lot of people from NA were mightily miffed that the exchange between Dain and Jeff was done without giving the members any forewarning.

I can see that a lot of hours and dedication were spent there by a lot of the regulars. So while technically Dain was the physical owner of NA, the regular members there were the “spiritual” owners. So on the surface (and my understanding of it back then), it looked like a fair transaction between one party to another, it could be argued there was a perceived intruder, entering the “home” to gobble up contents for personal profit.

Then the follow up after the sale was for Jeff to neglect, data-mine, zombify, and destroy the forum...too many mis-steps for it to be all unintentional/innocent on Jeff’s part.

Probably for the best that the old Nintendoage was completely gutted and destroyed in the gocollect transition.  It made it a very easy choice for people to make the Videogamesage transition, instead of dividing the community into two parts.

I was able to snag a Super Meat Boy for Vita this morning.  I wonder if that's going to be the last North American Vita release?  I know Play-Asia is still trickling out Asian games with the option for English

I tried for the Vita copy with the 2nd batch.  Yeah, sold out in like 20 seconds.   Oh well...

Trust me, I have a lot of expensive paper around these parts as well. However, I try to fool myself by rationalizing that it's not because of a box for a box of an easily obtainable game.

I just can justify huge price increase for niche items like that.

Is there a difference in the contents of each game that makes them obviously a part of this double pack?

No difference in the games themselves.  It's just the outer cardboard sleeve.

You guyses shelves look DOPE. I like to keep my games hidden from view for a few reasons, so as much as I want Twizer's shelves for my GB collection...

...it's just a little too visible to the kids and their grabby hands. (And that amount of wall space would not be wife-approved anyway.) So for years now, I've kept my games in boring boxes, stacked on a shelf by my workbench. But for a bunch of reasons, I want to build a big drawer or two to keep them all in, and install it in that same shelf, roughly 4ft by 2ft. imagine the shelves above, but laid on their back and with a handle on the side. That's what I want. Maybe with a lock. And moisture packets. I'm already measuring.

That way I can gaze upon my collection, access everything for playing, but also be able to hide it all away. The smallness of GB games is part of why I collect them.

I'm glad you like them.  Those were a fun project.  I still have a few pics of the building process:
