Played this many years ago for the contest. Did much better than this. Forget what I got. But I’m having trouble restarting the game over and over to better my score this time around. Maybe will play it again before the contest ends but probably not. 

Mostly staying in, but we did brave a 7-Eleven for some junk food one night. It was good to at least get out.

Anyway, clearly people disagree with my points. Maybe I'm not making them well, or I'm patently wrong. I'm just trying to provide feedback that I think could help bring in more participants and make it seem less intimidating, as well as make it more fun for the lower end of the skill pool.

I agree with you. As Megan mentioned, I thought it was discouraging for Kung Fu to be on mode B for the first contest. I think the people who are really good will demonstrate their abilities no matter what the challenge is; there's no need to make things harder so that people who've never played the game are intimidated.

Okay, I'm done with this. Didn't spend as much time as I could/should have, but I'm happy with what I got. Hate this game, and will never play it again (unless it comes up in a contest )

I don't know about that. I think I got incredibly lucky on that run. But we shall see!

Honestly, I hate this game. I don't know why I'm playing it. When I was a kid, I wanted to buy Mega Man, but my brother said we've beaten it many times and convinced me to get something else. He picked out Starforce. Boring, hard, horrendous game. It was like some years earlier when he wanted Urban Champion out of all the other black box games we could have had. Ugh.

How about Game Mode A with one life so as not to deter people who've never really played this before? Game Mode B is brutal.

I’m playing through the first Phantasy Star now and I keep hearing how 2 and 3 are less than stellar. I really want to just skip to 4 but I hear the stories are linked.

Phantasy Star II is one of my favorites. It has a high encounter rate... that's about the only thing I can think of that could be improved. The story is great, the music is excellent, and the graphics are pretty good. There's also a remake of it for the PS2 that was released in Japan only, but I'm sure there's an English patch floating around. I prefer the original to the remake, though.

I couldn't get into Phantasy Star. I don't tend to like dungeon crawlers, which is the main reason.

Phantasy Star III has a completely different vibe from the others. Absolutely hate the battle system and the music it grates your ears with when a battle starts. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??:

Glued magnets to the PS2 characters and stuck them to my refrigerator.

I crazy glued velcro (soft side) to the back of the characters, and then I stuck the hooked side to the monitor. Regular tape might not hold them for long. It was fun to do. Can't wait to fill up the entire monitor!
