So I'll say it since it hasn't been pointed out yet, but this scenario only works if Jeff is actuslly a "director" or "manager" (or someone with a financial stake in WATA). He purchases Dain's collection, then proceeds to get everything graded as part of the "Carolina Collection". Does no one see a potential problem with this? He makes the purchase then everything gets immediately graded. Could this be part of the reason why WATA is so backed up?

Additionally I also agree that pedigrees for video games are dumb. Going by the definition of a pedigree for comics, they only consist of Golden Age or Silver Age comics in High Grade, include long runs with all the keys, and were all owned by the original owner who bought them off the rack. Is there a definition of a pedigree for games or am I missing something? Cause all I see when I see "Carolina Collection" is a dude bought stuff second hand over the years and put it in his house. They were in good shape, and owned by the guy who founded a website. He was not the original owner. (Unless I am mistaken on that)

you are not wrong and i have made both of those points repeatedly. nothing we can do about it though. they're trying to hustle outside money and most of us have no leverage against that.

  2. you should make an effort to be aware of things your wife likes, her gift preferences, etc. that's part of being an invested partner.

you and your wife also need to sit down and talk about how each of you communicates and particularly how each of you is going to interpret things the other says. men and women communicate differently. what she thinks is obvious is not registering with you. it's not anyone's fault, you just have different expectations for communication. that is a problem for you to work out together. you're a team and the goal is for you to be the best team you can be.

I just keep getting a weird vibe a guy named Jeff Meyer is listed on the Wata SEC filing, if its the same Jeff Meyer who owns Go Collect and bought the “Carolina” collection and NA and is selling that collection on Clink and HA. Am I over reading into it? Or does it feel like a big conflict of interest. Maybe just a different Jeff Meyer. 🙄 Gut check here people. Now Go Collect is sponsoring video game conventions. I totally get the capitalist fervor. Gotta respect the hustle!

Maybe someone with better knowledge of corporate structure and such can educate me.

If that's true it's right up there with that guy on eBay who was pushing his self graded "collector quality games". No idea if he's still around but it was aggravating running into his nonsense all the time.

I mentioned a couple times on NA but I think the whole Carolina collection pedigree was bullshit. Doubly so if he's the one assigning it to himself.

  4. Alcohol is first and last pass for cleaning surfaces, not carbon deposits. It's for getting all the gunk hiding the carbon and residue of actual cleaning materials.

Ceramic stovetop cleaner is my goto for being effective and safe. It's designed specifically for carbon (burrnt food) without doing damage. I used an off brand I really liked (stovetop magic I think?) but I can't find it anymore. Be aware the last bottle of weiman's I bought had some kid of solid pieces in it. I still use it because I don't have an alternative but I am very careful about pressure applied.

One I haven't seen suggested is electronic contact cleaner. It's generally used on car electronics. It's a spray liquid that evaporates very fast so you have to be quick with the qtip. It's good for a first pass before weiman's and maintenance cleaning.

The PS2 was a huge draw at the time being a great DVD player (Xbox made you buy the remote/dongle to access the feature), and PS3 was one of the best options for Blu Ray playback. What do you think the PS4's alternate draw was?

ps4's draw was being free of microsoft's bullshit. kinects nobody wanted, threats of blocking used game sales, etc. personally i hate xbox controllers for layout and the fact they don't have rechargeable batteries by default.

I suppose I'm wrong, thought I heard that was the case. RCG is still going. I've bought a few stands from them, their other stuff is pricey. What did they do that was smug?

Maybe smug is the wrong word. I just have this impression of ... unearned confidence? Idk, something about their approach was aggravating. Maybe prices they were demanding were so far out of line with anything else available at the time.

I did just remember they did that earth bound cart though, which would be amazing to own.

Didn't the TW guys shift gears and start Rose Colored Gaming?

I thought that was someone else entirely. What they were doing wasn't any more legal than time walk, so I wouldn't expect that to be tw guys again.

Is rcg still active? I found them pretty off putting with their smugness

Wait...since when does a star code mean it's the promo release? I'm pretty sure the star means it's the final revision. Given the fact that this is the oval seal version it probably came out in 89/90 right before Mr. Dream's Punch-Out!!

This is the first time I've ever seen it suggested star means final revision. I don't see how that makes any sense- if something continues to sell and you need to print new copies theres always the possibility something has to change.

It depends on how you look at it.   From a "you took away our site and you suck" point of view that lots of peeps had at the first awkward announcement, you do have a point.

From the absolutely fucking zero they have done in the 5-6 months since?    They've earned that shade.

You could make a case for dain doing things better but most of us haven't been in the position of unloading a hobby turned boat anchor for a pile of cash. Given we only had na in the first place because of him I'm not gonna sweat that too much.

Gocollect deserves all the shit they get and more. Whatever their business plans, they inherited an active community and stonewalled it. It would have been super easy to be minimally involved, keep the guys running the site up to date and empowered to continue doing so, and take community help to address the problems. It all could have gone so much smoother with a better outcome. But they went silent and shits failing and they're in "we've tried nothing and we're out of ideas" mode.

I think what jone said was right.  At my job I use it to see whats cheap and whats not.  Anything thats substantial like over $40 I'll go to ebay and check.  GVN is usually on the 'lighter' side for some of the titles.

Gvn does not take shipping into account, which skews things a bit. Vgpc doesn't either though afaik.

Are they still pulling best offer sold prices correctly? Really that's the biggest hurdle to manually checking ebay
