I think it depends what you’re collecting and what region.

US stuff has gone pretty mental across the majority of retro systems.

I mainly collect Japanese stuff and the majority is slow and steady increases. Even during this pandemic I haven’t noticed huge increases.

PAL stuff is still mostly not too bad too.

I feel WATA & the pandemic have really screwed over US collecting though. Glad I’m not too involved with that scene, I’d be broke after one CIB game.

Ever since the pandemic, I just stick to emulation.

  2. I remember as a kid before the age of YouTube, game prices would be like Japan where the older stuff (even games of a beloved and popular series) are usually cheap with a few exceptions. We played it, loved it and move on from there. Nowadays, people are obsessed with having a complete set, somewhat uncommon games are getting super expensive, retro gaming on the rise, etc. Now people seem to focus on getting a Switch collection, it's like "this console is too recent to collect for!" How did we get to this? I would like to know.

  3. I was considering getting a good gaming laptop because I just got into emulation and I love it and Steam has a lot of good exclusives that I wasn't able to play. However, I'm stuck with both an Apple and a HP computer, which both are problematic for different reasons, Apple is notorious for not being not PC gaming friendly and HP computers are just flat out terrible. What are your recommendations for getting a good gaming laptop? I would like to know, thank you.

  4. I have bought Japanese imports games because either they were exclusive or had a better collector's edition, I was thinking about trading them to a Japanese game store, however I heard that you need a Japanese ID to trade with them. Is there any Japanese game store that I could trade in my imports that doesn't require an ID? If there are stores like that, what stores do you recommend? Thank you for reading this post.

  5. Now I'm asking this because I remember the release of Mario 3D Collection is all emulated. Kirby's Dream Collection is probably emulated, however I could be wrong. The Jak series on PS4 is totally emulated. Now I just saw a listing of the Asian physical version of Final Fantasy XI on Switch, however, I was pretty skeptical whether or not that the game is fully emulated or not. I would like to know, thank you.

  6. I know that this topic is around more than 2 years old, but ever since I saw the teaser for Negan in Tekken 7, I thought "cool, more bizarre characters join Tekken 7", but at the same time, I thought they could have chosen other guest characters such as Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza. Heck, I thought an Avatar: The Last Air Bender character would have been more fitting. Someone commented on YouTube that Zuko would be a more fitting Avatar character to join the Tekken cast, and the more I think about it, it sounds like a really cool idea to have in Tekken if Harada ever chooses a character from another American property. In my personal opinion, he became one of my most wanted guest characters. Now he's not as fitting as Kiryu from Yakuza (and I'll admit would be awesome to see), however he's most fitting among most of the American properties Harada would pick from.

I saw Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Party packaged together at either Best Buy or Toys R Us on Monday.

Edit: this is what I saw:

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe & Super Mario Party Bundle (Switch) | Best Buy Canada

Yep, that's the one. However, where are you from because in the USA, we don't have many Toys R' Us' anymore. From what I can tell, only big malls have Toys R' Us. I know Canada and Singapore still have Toys R' Us.

  8. Now I'm interested in getting the mini console because I have heard so many good things about the PC Engine line up of games. However I was debating on getting it since it runs on emulation (which I gave Mario 3D Collection shit for) and I heard that there were some power connection issues. I would like to know, thank you.

Well there's a lot of workers in entertainment that simply have no upcoming project or any type of funding or they just fizzled out with time. What happened to any random musician or actor out there? Nothing really "happens" it's just a normal thing that you're relevancy is temporary whether it will return or not.

There's thousands of creative designers or programmers that at some point were involved in a game. Life went on in whatever directions just as with people in general, once you worked in a restaurant or played basketball and now you don't. There's nothing dramatic to it just mundande, regular life-shit.

Too bad, I like his works of art. In fact I think his works should be ported to newer platforms.

  10. For anyone who does not know who this man is, he is the one responsible for creating the Dead or Alive series and the Ninja Gaiden reboot series. Now his last game he made was Devil's Third, which was critically mixed and a commercial flop. After that, he was just never heard from again. Which is a shame because some of the stuff he makes is pretty good and would love to see him work on the remasters of his games. So I'm just wondering what he is up to nowadays. If anyone has an answer, please let me know. Thank you.

  11. Spoiler

When I first heard Crash talk, I thought that it was interesting. Some people think that Crash is just acting like he was stupid the whole time. However, I personally think that the talking Crash is not the real Crash but an alternate dimension one. Think about it, Crash has never talked normal like that before, so why would he suddenly talk in complete sentences. In the story, they claim that the alternate dimension versions of Crash and Coco are dead, however, it's a possibility that they might have survived. Personally, that's what I think.

Now I'm sure there are some games I would love to see ported, but I can't think of any right now.

  15. Now I'm not as huge of a Mario fan as others, but he's one of if not the most important video game characters of all time. I can ask anyone who doesn't play video games and know who the Italian plumber is, which is something I can't say for a lot of other gaming icons such as Crash, Spyro, Mega Man, etc. Which is why I was pretty disappointed on how they handled the compilation. Now looking back, Nintendo lately hasn't handled Mario anniversary compilations well like with Mario's 25th Anniversary, but this release is much bigger since the Switch has more of a dedicated following than the Wii and Mario's 35th Anniversary has a lot of hype behind it. I bet money that the reason why Nintendo made it so limited is because not many people would not buy it since they did not add much to the collection. Which is why I thought up of other ways to make the compilation more desirable than making it limited. Which are:

    Super Mario Galaxy 2

    GameCube controller support

Actually remake the games by fixing all the bugs, add content that was previously cut from the original releases, 60 FPS, add screen settings, etc.

Add some developer interviews about the games

Include the Super Mario pin set in the physical version instead of making it a My Nintendo Rewards exclusive.

Have a mini concept art or Art of Super Mario booklet included in the physical version.

Include some other Super Mario media such as the obscure anime movie "Super Mario Bros.: Peach-Hime Kyushutsu Dai Sakusen!" (Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach) remastered for Mario fans with official subtitles or a dub for Western fans or some episodes of the DiC Mario shows like Mama Luigi from Super Mario World (which looking back is a really funny episode)

Add a history gallery of Mario or other world events.

    Make the soundtrack physical (maybe)

Giving My NIntendo reward members coupons for the Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (digital or physical) when they buy Super Mario 3D All-Stars. (This one might be a stretch)

Now I'm sure that there are many other ways to make this collection more desirable in a more efficient way. I'm just listing some things based on that one time when I owned Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition when I got it for my birthday. It was $39.99 retail in 2012 (around $45 today) which included some episodes from the Kirby anime, history gallery, 6 games, physical art book, and other cool features. If they at least did half or some of the suggestions, that would truly make this collection feel really special and make Mario fans feel rewarded for playing his games all these years. Now, I did not get the collection or played it yet, but thank you for letting me share my thoughts.

Note: Now I did make the same post, but I put it in the wrong forum.
