  1. Yep, all of these oasis releases are like that. Theyre not chiptune at all, its more about the visuals and aethetic physicality of the experience.

A handful of music carts already just play PCM audio through the console (zao, a winner is you, hyperdub, etc), effectively working like an mp3 player. But, the experience can still be uniquely rich and enjoyable. My favorite example of this is the Note! Sega CD album. The visuals and interface are so compelling it feels like they're somehow playing a concert inside of the console itself.

I just felt the need to apologize to this man before I left!

I am really gone now - last response - last notify!

Tonight, by hilarious coincidence, my sister-in-law showed me some recent emails from her years-ago ex-boyfriend who still pesters her. They are, no exaggeration, tens of thousands of words long and they all end EXACTLY like this. "This is the last message I will ever send, oh except for this one, and oh just one more, oh but this ones really the final message..."

    ...Aaron, is that you?

  3. Buyer and seller enter a smoke-filled room through the back alley. One begins furiously checking the games for fakes, the other inspects the briefcases filled with stacks of unmarked bills. They're both nervous, wondering if they'll need to have a 'hard conversation', unsure if they'd come out on top. Suddenly, a man bursts through the door. "Pizza delivery!" he says, smiling wryly. "One pie with... extra sausage". Buyer and seller briefly exchange worried glances, then swivel their gaze toward the delivery man. "But we didn't order that..." the buyer says, trembling, "...how're we gonna pay for it?" All three realize in unison: they're about to have that hard conversation after all.

  5. I emailed the author of the Mikeyeldey album to compliment him and thank him, and he told me he's working on another one to come out in 21/22. He shared a couple screenshots. It appeared to be titled Mikeyeldey95 (has a cool looking win95 theme)

    edit: it's for sega genesis

  6. Got around to opening my PLTC today and I can say it is totally awesome!

The cart had an issue, the board doesnt seem to seat properly inside of it. So I put the board alone into an fc-to-nes converter and it works great. Using the board alone contributes to the aesthetic. The irreverent booklet, weird box art, bare board, totally bizarre game concept and trippy music all mesh together really well!

You got it! Nice collection by the way 😉

Are you able to get your 8-Bit Music Power to work on your NES? I can't get mine to work with the Famicom to NES adaptor I have.

    Thanks!

And no, I'm afraid to even attempt to play 8-Bit Music Power because of the notoriously bad hardware inside. This guy said it actually killed his famicom console: https://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=12633.15

If I look at the bottom of mine I can see a bit of white wire looping out and back into the casing right next to the PCB. It's super sketchy.

The root issue seems to be the use of chips rated below the voltage used by the console. There are some folks here (https://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=13857) who have modded their carts to play and there are pics of how to do it, if you're so inclined. It looks like just adding two components and a bit of wire. But it doesn't really fix the underlying issue and I don't feel comfortable risking my original childhood nintendo.

So I've only played that one through a flashcart. The hardware issue is really a shame because I think it's one of the best music carts I've gotten hold of.
