Yikes. Talk about bad timing for him having to already let it go. Guess this will be a good watch.

Yeah that's the one. It wasn't the GE it was the RE. Might be cursed tho bc I got top dollar for it and the guy died like the next day.
Which guy died the next day?

How many total copies made? (Including custom text option and gift editions)

Im in Utah (USA). I believe the buyer I purchased it from was in the UK. I would have to look. It was an eBay purchase. It actually literally just arrived in the mail today.
That's very cool. Which # copy did you get ? I have #81

Just ran across this thread - recently snagged this gem off eBay. Ran me $2,500.00! insane I know but I believe its one of the best and the rarest games in existence as I almost never ever see these pop up anywhere.
Congrats on your recent purchase! Hope you enjoy the game too. It's difficult and quite unique. Where ya from?

I'd love to try this one out, and I can think of a few others that aren't even 8bit NES/FC I would too, but same trolling shenanigans where the author doubles down being a stubborn prick and won't make more copies for sale or distribute the file taking a tough shit attitude about it.
I know it seems like it should be more readily available considering it's success as a homebrew. It's just we really don't know if the developer cares to continue releasing more copies. I honestly think 87 Arts stepped away and moved onto other things in his life. He may not even be aware of the games current circumstances.

I'm pretty sure people were looking into dumping this game long before the prices spiked. It's had a lot of buzz even when prices weren't insane. So the motivation's already there.
While I won't say it's impossible, it's got a unique microcontroller setup that makes it a bitch to dump and emulate. While I'm sure there's some mad scientists still poking away at it, it's not exactly something you can just will to get dumped.
I agree. It's not impossible. Kudos to the person or people that actually can pull it off in the distant future.

It's unfortunate that this one is getting so prohibitively expensive and difficult to obtain, that almost no one will actually get a chance to play it.
Just the way it goes sometimes, of course - not much can be done about that. It'd be neat if the developer/publisher released a copy for sale that wasn't a collectible, that people could still pay to play the game somehow, but that's really up to them.
It would be awesome to know of the developer (87 Arts) whereabouts. We have so many questions for him.

It’s that the one from like Australia or something? He sold the other copy that sold recently for $1,700 as well. I was going to message him to see if that was a serious price or he was waiting for a whale.
Looks like he caught his whale. that's a lot for this homebrew. Probably the most I've ever seen.

No, I bought one a year or two ago, but I had it shipped to my parents' house. They're coming to visit me in a few weeks so I'll have them bring it along.
Ah! I misunderstood. That's cool you'll finally get to play it!

Pre-ordered! Damn the $15 for shipping though lol
Not sure yet if I want to pre-order the GPK game for NES. I hope it's a good game. The presentation looks great.
Has anyone ever played the game?

So Basically it can never ever be dumped? Cool

Kind of glad this Homebrew is getting some attention lately. Mainly thanks to Eugene for figuring out how to implement the code. I tried the code and had a good time with the game again without the usual frustration lol. It will be a blessing for those who want a better chance at finishing the game since it is very challenging. Also, good luck to whoever bids on the one currently listed on eBay. This game is a treasure and I hope it keeps its place in the homebrew community as a player favorite.

It be great to hear from 87Arts again. Would even be better if he decided to make a Star Keeper sequel.
Love the game, I don't think it should ever be dumped.

Someone on YouTube is on me to dump the game, claiming "anyone" can modify the custom mapper to get it to work in an emulator.
This did prompt me to finally open the game up to check out the PCB though, since I've never seen images of it. I meant to do it earlier, but I saw someone here comment that the fifth screw in the middle was glued in or something—however, my cart only has three screws, and it opened up no problem. Just for the curious, here are some shots of the custom PCB. If we aren't supposed to post images of it for some reason, feel free to delete this.
Very interesting. I always wanted to see what was inside. Thanks for showing us!

We forgot that sometimes manuals leave out important information, by mistake or intention. It now seems like an obvious oversight on our parts!
Agreed
Star Keeper NES - a copy sold for $450. Wow
