Well, I may have spent some time in Ohio, but I'm actually a Michigander by birth and heart.

Where abouts serves that? Sounds amazing, will absolutely try
Yesterdog used to, but I think they simplified their menu because of Covid, so we'll see if it comes back. Otherwise, I know how to make them.

only grand rapids coney I've been to was grand coney and it was kinda a bummer
It's a deep fried sliced Koegel on a grilled sourdough hotdog bun with all-meat & tomato chili, finely diced sweet onion, sweet relish, mustard, ketchup, and extra sharp finely shredded cheddar

In Michigan we just call this "a good time". But for the sake of argument I'll say chili.

There's a lot of Mandalorian lore being wolven into this series. I think that cruiser Gideon is in possession of may not be his much longer and is actually a Mandalorian light cruiser the Venator class destroyers were based off of.

Having to track a guy down just to accept the invite isn't a good start. If people don't want to participate they shouldn't sign up.
Accepted. Game is started. I didn't know there had actually been a game started officially until FH messaged me. So thanks for some kind of a warning. My alerts for this forums only comes through when I'm active on the webpage and I don't sit on it 24/7. But anyway... here we go.

Unfortunately the game specifics, such as players allowed etc have to be selected before the lobby is made. Seeing how they restrict private games to 1 per account I don't want to delete this lobby and have some sort of restriction on when a new one can be made. This is the first time I use this website, so I don't know if spectators can watch. If there is a way, I will be sure to post here. If not, perhaps the game has some sort of replay at the end or some analysis. This is a free version, so I wouldn't expect anything great. However, if this free version is cool enough, I might jump on paying the whopping $25 for an annual premium account to get top the of the line experience on this website. It looks to be fairly simple, so we will see how it all goes!
Don't worry, I am hopeful this isn't a one and done with this match/game.
It's cool. I hope this website works out. I'd love to play a round. Love me some RISK.

damn... missed out on this one. can spectators still watch the match somehow?

I am still waiting for a prize or an award. They keep putting polls up and I keep winning - but still no prize or award.
At the least you'd think someone would give you a custom avatar or status or something!

Yup. I'm usually one of the older people on the other forums I'm on. Guess not so much here.

Well... yeeup. Lol. Not gonna lie, doesn't break my heart I'm not the oldest. I usually am.

Sweet. At least I can not worry about having to explain myself all the time then. Lol.
Regardless... I am a grandpa, thanks to my step-son. Sooooo there's that.

Console Debate #24 NES/FAMICOM
in The Gauntlet
Posted
I give it 8/10.
So... I am turning 40 this year. I literally grew up right along side the "video game revolution". I have owned the Atari 2600, NES, Gameboy, SNES, Sega Genesis, Gameboy Advance, N64, Playstation, Game Cube, Playstation 2 (several), and for a hot minute... a Sega Dreamcast. I have not personally bought a new console since my last PS2, but I have played them all. I now am getting back into video games in my spare time but primarily on my PC. I LOVED the NES when I was a kid. Easily one of the watershed moments of the video game industry was the introduction of the NES. No argument there. But... does that single fact automatically make it the GOAT? I think not. Because, lets be fair, the thing also had a host of issues that Nintendo in some ways created for the system by its design choices, and hardware decisions.
To make myself completely clear tho... I don't put ANY system into the "perfect 10" category. I think that is fallacy. Because as new technologies come out, game play develop, and creators get more creative, the whole industry has to shift to meet the ever changing landscape. I mean... you just can't put a NES next to a PS5 and go "which one is better?" It's asinine. That's like comparing a Model T to a Tesla. The two reside in completely different realms of realities and are very much products of their times despite having their roots in the same humble beginnings. The NES was the best of it's TIME. But That was what it was... OF it's time. I still think people should check it out. It can be hours of good old fun. But let's not sanctify something just because it has boat loads of nostalgic value attached to it. I also put the SNES and the N64 at the 8/10 spot with the NES. The NES is just the progenitor of arguably the best known video game company there is. It made "Nintendo" a household name. Still not a GOAT tho. Sorry.
