R.I.P. Sonny Chiba

Noted Japanese actor Sonny Chiba has died.  Probably best known over here because of Kill Bill, he had a long and lengthy filmography.

I haven't seen much of his work but 2 that I really liked were G.I. Samurai - a scifi film where a small modern Japanese military unit goes back in time and fights against Samurai forces.

Fukkatsu No Hi (aka Virus; Day of Resurrection) was an ambitious post apocalypse (via disease) multinational movie made in 1980 - well worth tracking down if you find a complete version (255 minutes) - various western prints under the Virus title ran as short as 90 minutes or so.
