koko | 65
Recently picked up a Super Famicom box from Japan. I need to open the sides to change the battery inside but they have these oversized security screws. They are similar to the snes and genesis carts, but slightly larger. Anyone know the name of the bit that will remove them?
Tabonga | 2,344
According to this they are 4.5 mm. Which IIRC is the Sega security bit size. If the configuration is different you might try going to walmart (or wherever) and buying a cheap driver set that comes with a raft of odd sockets that you will likely never find much use for. But you never know.
koko | 65
They are a little bigger than the Sega bit, I tried the one I have. It seems like they are the next size up, I saw some info that it might be a line head machine screw but I haven't been able to find any kind of line head screw driver. Your best bet may be to snag one of those cheap driver sets - I have one that has 30 different heads - no idea what most of them do (other than the screwdriver ones) - one in the set fits this odd bolt that my dining set chairs have so that is useful. If you manage to get them out I would replace them with conventional headed ones.
