NES kirby not for resale

Friend came across this copy of kirbys adventure and took a gamble. Anyone know if this is real or have any idea what it is?  I haven't been able to find anything about this.

Note that what follows is pure speculation on my part.  I have no proof, just a hypothesis.

I haven't found any details about it, but I did find a picture of a Final Fantasy with the same sticker.  My guess is it's a prize from a magazine or something.  Given that the person who posted the picture claimed to own Kirby, Startropics, and Dance Aerobics as well leads me to think that Nintendo gave away overstock in some form of contest or sweepstakes at various points.  They could also have been a subscription bonus, like Dragon Warrior, or something similar.  Apparently the sticker is on the box itself and not the shrink wrap, so they don't need to be sealed to exist like the SMB3 Challenge Set variant.

I do have to say, it isn't often I see something I've never seen before in this hobby, so I'm definitely interested to see what I can learn about these.
