Hey everyone, Just a warning this post may contain possible spoilers about shenmue 1 & 2 (probably not but just wanted to throw that out there is you still haven't played them.) I am a big fan of the Shenmue series, pretty stoked this 3rd entry has just released. In my trip down memory lane I remembered the video you unlock after beating the second game that has the rare play footage from the sega saturn. If anyone hasn't seen it, theres a good youtube video here. So in remembering this awesome video I started to ask myself if there were any playable demos that had surfaced of this game. In a brief google search I was able to find this post, the user Anthaemia. has some really good information on there, short answer is no. Anyways, being new to this forum I just figured I would ask and see if anyone here had any additional information on these prototype or development versions of Shenmue for Saturn? There is mention in the post of an individual from Vietnam who was supposedly working to finish the prototype and release it. From what I can find, as I start to do research, is that it's unclear if these claims were true. Does anyone know if a demo has ever surfaced of this game? I figured I would ask if anyone here has any additional information on this? I tried to check out some of the other links in that forum post but I am unable to access them. I could probably try to use the internet history and view them there, but this will be more fun. Plus with the release of Shenmue 3, I'm sure that I am not the first person to be wondering about this old topic again. Hey everyone just wanted to drop in and say hello! Just a little background on me, I am collector who likes all kinds of weird stuff. As the name suggests I am into retro 8 & 16 bit computers not only from a gaming perspective but also a historic perspective. I have a collection of computers ranging from the Commodore PET, Apple II, Macintosh models, Amiga (1000, 1200, 600 & cd32), Sharp X68000 & X1. Some other random machines in there too. I like to program and tinker on them, as expected I have a massive repair pile that I promise I'll make it to one day (lol). Some more stuff about me, I am a software engineer by trade and currently I am trying to learn enough assembly language for the 6502 so I can possibly write my own NES game. I think programming to the specific hardware is very cool and the overall understanding of the architecture that went into game development back then is fascinating to me. Other than that, I am really into RPGs from all eras though 16 & 32 bit would probably be my favorite eras! Also big into 3do and cdi because theyre so weird! I love weird stuff! Glad to be here! PM me with any resources on making nes games! God I miss nerdy nights on Nintendo age!!!!!
