Don’t know about psp but that hasn’t stopped NES/SNES prices.

Any older cartridge based system is going to need additional hardware like a flash cart, etc. This alone is a barrier to entry for most people for a variety of reasons. PSP doesn't require that because the files are all digital

As much as I don't plan to sell it, the raging stupidity behind sealed copies of games right now is even make me eyeball that pokemon game on my shelf.  But then another thing I hesitate on, if I did get rid of it, boy would I never trust the USPS with something that expensive as they're blatant lazy and destructive idiots.

I’ve sold and shipped about 4,000 packages with USPS and I’ve had 1 damaged. Last month I decided to ship with UPS (for the first—and last—time ever) on a large package because it was cheaper, and it arrived completely destroyed and I was out the whole cost plus return shipping so I could verify.

  3. I'm not normally in the business of speculating but for any PS3 collectors noticing the weird price jumps on random things, I noticed sealed copies of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z can be had for ~$12 on Ebay. I think this one could see some jumps because:

    • It's the obscure black sheep of a well-known & beloved series
    • Unlikely to see a re-release as it sold poorly & had mixed reviews (so lower number of copies)
    • Very stylish & unique cel-shaded graphics
    • Sigma trilogy re-release incoming on Switch will boost the profile of the series
    • It was released on PS3/360 about a year after the PS4 was already out

  4. PS2 is crazy as well. I only have a handful and all of them have gone up at least 3x, some much more (Silent Hill 2 and 3 are insane). Some PS3 games have shot through the roof too, after being really cheap for years (Puppeteer for example, which isn't even that good, was <$10 basically since it came out in 2013, and now is just under $100).

The question for me is a larger one of creeping insidiousness. The last time I saw Blazing Saddles on tv it was basically a different (read  as "far less humorous") movie that was beyond neutered with "minimal" cumulative changes that either substituted non-humorous jokes for funny ones or just cut them out all together.

I think you might be missing the point of the movie lol. Are you one of those guys that thinks the point of Mad Men is that Don Draper is a cool guy

They are interchangeable but I also think people overestimate how easy it is to get exactly correct, mint replacements for their jewel cases and DVDs. Not sure what the current replacement jewel case situation is like, but AFAIK zero currently-manufactured jewel cases are to the spec of the 90s jewel cases. All are much cheaper. When I had to replace a few, I bought some NOS 90s Sony music CDs to get equal quality cases. With DVD cases there are dozens of minor variations few people have a great handle on. I think grading modern CIB disc crap is silly, but just in terms of getting nice cases for your collection, it's a bit of a pain. It's also possible Wata just won't care about one million percent correct DVD and jewel cases like they don't really care about baggies or inserts that much.

I feel like any thrift store is going to have plenty of cases you can choose from when it comes to CDs. Finding a mint one might be slightly harder, but not like finding a good Saturn case or something

I dont think Crash or Spyro will shoot up dramatically because of their remakes being so successful.  I really wish they would tho cuz I have an abundance of them to get rid of.

I think it would have happened by now, because even the remake prices have gone dramatically down. Spyro was one of my favorites games growing up, and the remake practically made it obsolete. There's no real reason to play the original anymore other than nostalgia, and it was never a rare game.

  8. Not a member of VGS that I know of. This was on Ebay; I remember adding people from the old thread to my banned list on Ebay when they had done things like claiming a package was damaged and then returning a busted-up copy that wasn't the one you had sold, etc.

  9. Managed to grab this on clearance but am not particularly interested in it. Wanting to trade for other Switch games. Looking for these in particular:

    Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze

    Sakuna

    Witcher 3

    Xenoblade Chronicles

    Mario Kart 8

Resident Evil Origins or Triple Pack (if sealed)

    Super Mario 3d World

    Override 2

    Hyrule Warriors

    Disaster Report 4

    Dead by Daylight

    Bayonetta 2 (if sealed)

When I had GCU, I would wait until a sale and use GCU (20% off) + whatever the sale discount.  Then when my GCU was running out, I pretty much preordered everything they had listed to keep the 20% off going.  Still have a few games left from that coming, but I generally wait for sales.  For Licenses, Sports, and shovelware in general - I wait until they go under $20.  Games I think that might be hard to get later, I tend to grab first when marginally discounted. The Nintendo games I buy on release because my kid loves them and they usually take a couple of years to go on sale beyond maybe $10 off.  I tend to buy from Best Buy as they will price match, and the rewards (250 points is a $5 off coupon) stack up. The limited games are the only ones I pay full price for and I usually bundle them (the cost for shipping 4 standards from Limited Run is the same as buying 1 and you get upgraded to a box for free - the wait is just longer).

I don't mean any offense by this at all, but I don't quite get the appeal of doing something like this with a current console. The majority of these games will be in thrift stores and yard sales in just a few years, so do you just do this because you're worried some of them will be unattainable later or something?
