I saw that CGC gave a 9.8 A+ to a scratched up Phantom Hourglass, so if you like leniency with sealed grading than CGC is a good choice.

There are examples of this from all grading companies, unfortunately.

Another thing I forgot to note with CGC is you have to pay for a yearly subscription, so if you submit a chunk of games it ends up being cheaper than WATA, but if you only have a handful WATA will be cheaper.

EDIT: NVM, they just announced price & membership changes lol.

  2. CGC is $10 cheaper than WATA, so if you're going for the most cost efficient route, go with them.

Otherwise, imo, it's just personal preference between WATA & CGC. I have personally moved towards CGC because I was one of the people who had games sitting at WATA for over a year and just can't give them anymore money for how bad of an experience I've had with them. Also it's a lot more expensive for me to ship to WATA now that they're on the west coast (I'm east coast) & CGC is in FL.

So, I won a game from the auction that ended 5/25. I don't believe it has shipped yet. Anybody else waiting? How long does it usually take to ship?

Yes, for some reason the shipping was delayed from this auction for me as well. They shipped out yesterday though.

I paid via ACH and even that was delayed. If yours still hasn't shipped, I'd call them. Their CS is very helpful & each to get ahold of.

Oh, I'm sure I'll get the credit one way or another. They're either going to "move" the credit over to the video game section or refund it outright. I want the latter on sheer principle but would be fine with either.

Many have had an issue with the credit even applying. It seems its a totally manual process at the moment, which is so crazy to me.

Happened to me. Once I contacted them, they refunded the difference on one of my orders.

  5. Something else I just found. To me it looks like this game is numbered 075. It’s super blurry but I swear that’s what it says. Could’ve been a huge order that someone didn’t care about/rushed.

    This one looks like 064

  6. Ok so I’ve looked through a bunch of games that this seller has sold and there are other examples of games that are way over graded. Every single one of them I have found seem to be from 3 orders that are dated April if 2022.

Does anyone know if anything happened with or at WATA that month aside from recently moving? I’ve heard folks mention they got rid of the whole Colorado team..?

I have an email from them dated March 29th where they state they still had Colorado open “We are keeping our Denver operation open to focus solely on backlogged orders. Our goal is to get all orders that were sent to Colorado prior to February 1, 2022, shipped back to their respective customers no later than April 30, 2022.”

Is there any chance that in their rush to get through the backlog by the end of April, that games were not properly graded? Or in the rush did they mishandle games and just hand out 9.8’s so people didn’t get kissed that they got shit grades after WATA had their games for over a year? Is it possible the graders had an idea that they were going to be let go and just didn’t give a damn?

The more I think about this and going back and reading that email, the more I think it has something to do with Denver closing & the madness of finishing up their backlog.

EDIT: was this when WATA ran out of DVD cases? Pretty much all of the examples from this seller are dvd sized games.

  7. For anyone contemplating their crossover service. I submitted 4 crossovers to them, they arrived to CGC the 20th, I got the shipping email yesterday evening (28th).

    1 game received the same grade. 8.0 A > 8.0 A

1 looks like it wasn't crossed over - I sent this because I believed WATA overgraded this and wanted to see what they'd do.

    2 received higher grades - Both seemed undergraded to me. One went from 7.5 A+ > 8 A+, other 9.2 A+ > 9.4 A++

this seller is dope. i used to win like 6-10 games a week from them and they would just ship it in that giant wata box 🤣 nowadays their auctions seem to go somewhat high... or at least no where near as cheap as before

Yep they're great. They must've had cases of shit because a large majority of games they post another will follow the next week. They usually list the lower grades first then move up if they have multiple.

I've only graded about 10 games with WATA, and I've had good experiences mostly, except for a reholder when their old blisters sucked.

That being said, if I were grading something for the first time, something like this would send me elsewhere.

I don't know when this game was graded, and I realize that shouldn't matter, but with all the retooling WATA has done over the last few years, I feel like it does.

Ultimately, if you screw up as a company, you should always own your shit, and it shouldn't take people calling you out to do so.

It was graded in April, last year.

Unfortunately not for me, because there are still some active annoying resellers. Can't get any good deal on auctions because of these parasites. I swear almost all games I wanted I see them listed 2 weeks after on eBay double the price. What's more annoying is that the games sits for years without any buyers, and these parasites still buy more. Like, just fuck off already and go leech somewhere else.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you. I have won quite a few auctions in the past 4-6 months on graded games at pretty cheap prices. Some for just the cost of grading them..
