Also RGB is far superior to s-video or there wouldn't be an entire sub-culture dedicated to it so I'm not sure what Aaron is on about.  😀

I find the RGB quality on the M80c's Zenith tube to be on near the quality of a 14" PVM that I have.

Haha, well the jump from S-video to RGB isn't as massive as say RF to composite in my opinion. Especially when we're talking screens of this vintage. Most of the PVMs available from that period would have been between 560tvl-600tvl. Just my opinion though. 🙂

Thanks for the pictures.  Is the picture quality as good as the smaller version?

The M80C has a 14" RGB monitor, and the M81C has a 20" consumer TV set with s-video, so the smaller one will look sharper if it's in good shape. Buuuut, the 14" monitors are notoriously prone to failure, and it's proven very difficult for even experienced CRT repair technicians to get working because of a lack of parts. As far as signal types go, the jump in quality from s-video to RGB isn't that significant, but a tube being small can make it look inherently sharper than a similar spec larger tube. So it's sort of 6 in one hand, a half-dozen in the other.

I used to have 2 of these. Mine had metal brackets for holding controllers. The pictures I've seen have also shown a power strip mounted inside. I have an M81C if there are any specific pictures you would like, let me know. Cool thread, thanks for posting!
