  1. No goals really other than to sell off a bunch of stuff I don't play. PS1 RPGs are going for silly money and selling fast so some of those have already been dropped (Thousand Arms, Vanguard Bandits and so on).

I'll probably concentrate on picking up some PC parts where I can find them cheap. I'm quite interesting in getting a Raspberry Pi to use with mt32-pi and just mess around with.

    HOLY SHIT GUYS!!!

The gods of Super Mario Sunshine are smiling upon me today! I just started the cleaning up Serena Beach Shine, normally you get 3 minutes to clean the whole thing and it's a bitch to get done in time, but look!!!

Some kind of glitch I guess, the dude gave me the shine early after cleaning up only a tiny bit of the beach!!!

    DON'T MIND IF I DO! 😉

That exact issue happened to me as well! I wonder if it's glitch from the original game or in the emulation?

There are a number of extremely tedious shines in this game. I haven't even got that far and my interest has already dwindled super fast. Even with the 2nd Petey Piranha fight in the first world.... I kept aiming at his feet when he'd open his mouth because the (non)inverted controls or use the light spray and end up running forward. It turned into a really annoying 10 min boss battle which should be super simple. They need to patch the controls ASAP... extremely disappointing since this was the game I was looking forward to the most and it's not really fun to play in its current state for me.

I've adjusted to the controls now but it took some effort and its certainly not ideal. Half an hour with Galaxy the other night and the jump IN quality was immediately noticeable.

I dont think they'll patch in better controls tbh, considering Sunshine doesn't even support the GC controller.

  4. Currently at 61 Shines on Sunshine. IIRC it's 70 to beat the game? Can't see myself going for 100% anytime soon simply due to how frustrating it is at points. Yoshi's Fruit Adventure, the watermelon level, that pachinko machine...

I have come to enjoy it again somewhat, but it was a lot better in my memory lmao.

  5. I've been playing Sunshine and its been a little difficult to go back to tbh. The camera/FLUDD controls are unintutive and the 3D platforming is frustrating at points.

I'm still getting some enjoyment out of it, but it might have been best left in my memories.

I'm sure I'll have a much better time with Galaxy.

Yea I remember that. Suddenly infinite space wasn't so rare anymore. I don't know about the cart production, but apparently people are still making games for the 3DS. Dungeon Runner and word herd just came out last month. Neither a physical release though, but still. The last time a 3ds game got a physical release was a year ago.

That's how I got my copy of Infintie Space 🙂

I'm all for reprints personally, even if it can bite you in the arse at time.

  7. Anything older than 10 years old is retro in my book. That's how it was when I first started talking about them on forums in the early 2000s, and I've pretty much just stuck with it. So the SNES was retro in 2000 and the PS3 is retro now.

The only thing that's changed is my perception of time. In 2000 I was 16 and ten years was a lifetime ago, but today at 35 it passes in the blink of an eye.

  8. The original Tomb Raider, currently at Palace Midas and a little stuck, but it's late and I'm tired. I'll come back to it tomorrow with a fresh pair of eyes.

It's been very chill, exploring each area and figuring out the puzzels. Little more combat heavy than I remember but at least you're just raiding tombs.

  9. PCEM is a great way to experience DOS and Windows 9x from a gaming point of view. It works extremely well.

I have a few vintage setups from the XT era to the 2000s. My main rig has been a Socket A setup for a while now but I just recently picked up a Slot 1 based MATX board with an onboard Voodoo 3 I'm itching to test out.

Space is an issue, I had a spare room set up for gaming until a friend was made homeless recently. I'm letting him stay for a while and have it all in storage atm.

I just don't get this. People that actually put in the work and research to make creative, interesting videos struggle to find an audience, yet this asshat is almost at 200k subs.

Negativity brings in the views. Jim Stirling did a video on this a month or so back. All of his positive videos that praise certain titles get garbage views, but if he puts out a video shitting on Bethesda it does gangbusters every time.

In regards to YouTube in general, I think it's a good thing. 99% of its garbage but that's no different to everything else. I always wonder when people who complain about YouTube and prices got into collecting, and whether they actually would have got into collecting if we still lived in a pre-YouTube world.

More a philosophical point, I think a lot of times when we sell, it often is related to our life circumstances. I often find myself selling in episodes and on reflecting, it often relates to common themes:

    - need extra cash to buy something else of higher priority

    - need extra space

    - keeping the wife happy

In my mind, I collect for part nostalgia, part the thrill of the hunt and part investment depending on the titles. However, when I do sell it is often related to life circumstances than any concrete plans. Maybe that’s just me?

The desire to sell tends to be a direct response to life events for me and the need to regain some sense of control. More than once I've thought about selling everything and going minimilist.

  12. Making my way through Dungeon Siege. Currently at chapter 4, its a very slow paced dungeon crawler; perfect for catching up on some podcasts with. You level up by using weapon/magic combinations and increasing your profficiency with them. I'm currently running with two melee fighters, an archer and three mages, two of which handle party healing since the game likes to ambush your party a lot.

it has some quirks with the comera controls being an early 3D isometric RPG. Most notably, not being able to remap the middle mouse button to right click for camera control, but's easy enough to deal with.

  13. Beat the original C&C and C&C: Renegade.

The GDI missions are so good, all leading up to the final epic battle. The nod missions are dire though, truly awful.

Renegade is a goofy af FPS, and I loved it for it. Really fun to go back to and play through.
