  1. That's what I was thinking. Just wanting to make sure it likely didn't come on the sleeve originally - or heck I may just leave it on there anyway.
  2. I finally scored the copy of Pro Wrestling I was after. I want to put it in the correct sleeve, which I think is the matte Nintendo one like in the attachment. My question is, what's the rectangular foil sticker about on this sleeve? I was going to attempt removing it with some Bestine if it had no real meaning. Thanks guys.
  3. I agree, BUT in my searching I did run across this auction: https://www.ebay.com/itm/166592322800?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=isksLt5DSly&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=3N_zdiZTR-2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY At least this seller honestly says it's "reconditioned" but that's what got my mind wondering about the whole subject. This one also obviously looks different, thankfully.
  4. Thanks for the info, and that'd be a good video. Just learning the basics of a 5 screw is older and a 3 screw is newer, along with what the "A" debossed on the back label means, has helped me in making cart decisions. I'm looking for a good Rambo cart without the A debossing (original language in game) yet looking for a 3 screw Castlevania with the A debossing (glitch fixes). I haven't even looked into the MTPO variants at all, but I do know my cart isn't a 5 screw.
  5. Yessir, it was your video. It was the only thing I could find that visually explained the black box timeline. I'd like to see more of the hands-on explanations of variants that you displayed at the end of the video, especially dealing more with the cart/labels instead of the box. Good stuff to know. Appreciate the info! As far as the Pro Wrestling, I saw 5 screws with and without the TM, 5 screws with and without the "Made in Japan" in the lower left front of the cart sticker, and at least another variation with the 3 screws including the A revision debossing on the back label. I'm hoping this is about the oldest Pro Wrestling variant.
  6. I did indeed check the back prior to purchasing because I wanted the initial "A Winner is You" version. The back (in the photo anyway) had no debossed letter. I'm learning slowly but getting there. Thanks much. I'm trying to be careful with each cart I collect that I get the variant that I seek.
  7. Again, thank you guys for your insight. After watching a well explained YouTube video on black box games, I feel like this is an early, early Pro Westling cart. I got it for $7.50.
  8. I know there are zillions of black box variations out there. I don't want to get burned. Things I noticed about this label: There is no "TM" or copyright symbol or anything at all by NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM on the label. There is no "Made in Japan" in the lower left of the label. This is a 5 screw cart. Would these two things together indicate a very old release of the game?
  9. So, I have my original NES carts from childhood in their original dust sleeves in an original 3rd party display rack (just a black display rack from like Walmart in the early '90s) with manuals and everything. They've always been inside the house in a cabinet or box. Now I have my loose carts I've been buying elsewhere lately - they have no dust sleeves or anything with them, or else mis-matched, unknown originality sleeves. I'm not sure which direction to go with these loose carts I'm acquiring on storing them, as I occasionally will pop in a cart to play on my AVS but most of the time use my Everdrive N8 Pro for playing. I'm mostly collecting loose carts of games I like that are clean with good labels, not trying to have a huge, complete collection or anything, for nostalgic physical media vibes. Should I just buy some random 3rd party dust sleeves? Try to find original dust sleeves and is there any way to even tell if they're original? Or is there a better, plastic box type of storage for loose carts that better protect them long term from dust and more importantly - humidity? I'm trying to pick which direction to go before diving in to anything. Thoughts on how effective generic dust sleeves are versus no dust sleeves at all versus something better? Any recommended sources for these things?
  10. Thank you both so much for your help and insight. From what I can see on eBay, most (not all) Rambo carts that do not have the "A" stamp on the back label look like they have slotted screws. I know now what to look for - at least for the best chances of finding the PRG-0.
  11. So after reading this and browsing eBay photos, I do indeed see many carts without any stamping on the back label. Some do have the "A" stamped on the right side of the label! But nearly all of them have the numbers "20" or "21" or something else that looks like "D" stamped on the left side of the label. I'm still new to this all, do the numbers signify anything particular?
  12. So, indeed your copy of Rambo has the PRG-0 version with "get the hell out" by Trautman? As Rambo is a pretty common and cheap cart to find, and I don't own a copy yet, I was hoping to find the PRG-0 "original" variant of the game and I was hoping there would be some way of knowing by looking at the cart. No embossed A helps. Darn. Perhaps the slotted screws would help indicate so versus the gamebit screws. Thanks for the info.
  13. Every single Rambo cart I've looked at say "REV-A" on the back sticker and the box, but there's never been a 5 screw Rambo cart that I know of. Does REV-A always mean there was previously a 5 screw cart for that game? Or does it just indicate it's a 3 screw cart, not necessarily available as a 5 screw cart previously?
  14. Newbie here. For years I've wondered if both PRG0 and PRG1 versions of the Rambo NES cart exist out there in the wild, and if so, are there ways to visually tell them apart by just looking at the physical cart? I don't know what all the differences are between the two, but as far as actual inside the game changes I do know the initial conversation with Trautman has the word "hell" in PRG0 which was removed/reworded in PRG1. I've attached screenshots from Nestopia UE of what I'm referring to. Practically every copy of the game has "REV-A" on the caution sticker on the back of the cart. Would that indicate the censored PRG1 version?
