As title says, looking to trade my LRG Switch Wandersong CE without the game. CE contents are good (soundtrack is still sealed, I haven't looked at the poster or steelbook, pin and art print were never removed), but the box itself has some dents:
Also have (feel free to ask for pics):
- Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers (3DS) - CIB
- Mario vs Rabbids: Sparks of Hope - new, UK version
For Rabbids, I'd like to trade for:
- Harvest Moon 3D: A New Beginning
- Return to Popolocrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
- Harvestella (Switch)
- Ys IX Pact edition (Switch)
- Random Switch JRPG offers?
For the other two:
- A Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon steelbook
- Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven (first print ver?)
- Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance Mark of Mastery edition (with or without game)
- Shin Megami Tensei IV limited edition (without game)
- 3DS CE offers?
- Also possibly offers to buy, I'd prefer to trade first (
however unlikely that is) -

I just looked it up, and evidently it can be beat in 15 minutes.
What the fuck?
I'm glad I passed on it back when it was making some waves. I don't even understand how a strategy RPG could be that short.
If I recall correctly, it was originally a mini/side game in another one of the dev's games that he decided to turn into a full game. The dev wanted to make all his games 3DS physicals, but for reasons those plans fells through and only the strategy RPG one got printed. He talked about it in his Patreon free posts. If you really wanted to play it, it's a much more reasonable $4 on the eShop.
In other news, I manage to get myself mentally stuck because I still haven't been in a mood to grind for Strange Journey Redux, but I don't want to start a new game till I beat it. I'll probably just pick a game to play to break the deadlock and hope it gets me back in the mood to grind for SJR
and maybe the 4 Etrian Odyssey games I also left off at the stratum 5 boss lol.My original plans for after SJR was either Tokyo Mirage Sessions (though I don't think i'm in the mood for more a t l u s d u n g e o n s), The Legend of Legacy (though I hear this is another harder JRPG), Etrian Mystery Dungeon or maybe even Ryza 2. -
7/10, can tell one of the three is from Assassin's Creed but didn't even know the games for the other two (the GTA guy and Elena)
-
As far as I can tell the non exclusivity thing is true, just very few developers choose to have another run printed by someone else for whatever reason, whether it be the game isn't popular enough, the developers don't want to do more prints or anything in between.

@greenthunder That was the first SMT I played all the way through (on DS), and remember getting stuck hard on a dragon/snake boss halfway through. Had to completely rebuild my party to get through. Can't recall the final boss, or if I did the neutral path (I think I did).
Guessing that was Sector E's Ouroboros, which I think I did get stuck on for a bit.
Somewhat related to the Octopath talk, Octopath and Collection of Mana have been in my Switch backlog for a while and I've been debating selling them both because I don't know if I want to play them. But at the same time, I want to at least give them a shot in case I do like them, but I don't have the motivation to start them in the first place. The struggle.
-
Picked up Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux as my first backlog game of the year and I've been enjoying it a lot. Not really sure why I put it down in the first place. Haven't beat it yet (explanation below) but some thoughts:
- Outside of certain bosses and the occasional bad rng against certain random enemy compositions, the game is a lot easier than I expected it to be (I think I'd rank Etrian Odyssey as more difficult). Not sure if Redux smoothed out the difficulty or just overhyped difficulty.
- I did not like Sector E. Praise be to some of the Redux exclusive subapps for saving my sanity throughout the game.
- Decided to go with the Redux neutral ending. This has resulted in the absolute agony of both Strange Journey's final boss and Redux's final boss, which are both giant difficulty spikes. After a couple of tries on the former, I did some googling and spent a couple hours grinding macca so I could tweak/fuse some more demons. Gonna have to grind even more macca for mitamas / getting demon sources and spend time figuring out what other demons I can fuse, because most of the current ones I want to replace are either dead ends or require me to be level 85+, when I'm at 82 right now. Since I wasn't really having fun with the mega suffering, I decided to play some other games for now until I'm hopefully in the mood to grind again.
- Me: howlongtobeat has main game only at 46 hrs, so I should beat it in ~50 right? Hahaha no, I'm at 70+ hours and counting. Probably should have gone with the main game + extra times instead of just main game considering I usually do a good bit of side stuff in JRPGs.

The steelbook is from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I have 2 of those collectors' editions for sale I keep forgetting about too. The Japanese game... I forget! I'll have to check next time I'm in that room. Will get back to you, but I think it was a platformer.
Two of those in this day and age is wild. Any chance one of them is Japanese or are both US?
-
Hmm, might need to consider upgrading my EO4. Also, what's the Japanese Switch game and the steelbook next to it (a Pokemon game)?

Did you get the CE - that game is one of my favorite CEs.
Would've considered it, unfortunately they only had the PS4 ces and no Switch ones. Is the book a novelization of the game or a replication of an ingame book?

Like many others I was hit with the shipping bug after going through the queue. But there wasn’t anything specific I was after anyway. I did my usual gamble on 2 CE blind boxes and called it a day.
How are you feeling on the odds on those? I was joking to a friend it was gonna be 90:10 Holy Potatoes compendium to everything else, but now that I'm looking again they seemed to have removed it from the list of possibilities (assuming you got two Switch ones).
Said friend somehow had smooth sailing during the sale and picked up a copy of Return of the Obra Dinn for me. I'd have gone for a soundtrack blind box or two if they had actually listed what the possible contents were.

Guess I'll throw my hat into the ring here. I'd like to knock out a bunch of my 3DS backlog since a bunch of them have been sitting on my shelves for years and I found this year I ended up mostly just buying + immediately playing Switch stuff instead of playing stuff I already had (not that I regret it though). I'll leave a bit of free space for random Switch releases I get/more 3DS stuff I pick up/the very few DS games I still want to get/play. Series wise, I'd like to knock out more of the Shin Megami Tensei games I have, but we'll see if I get around to those. Also going for a mix of short/long games since I like JRPGs and they tend to run long.

I wanted to visualize my 3DS backlog, so ye olde floor pic. Very top row are games I've started but haven't finished, rest I haven't started at all.
I don't have too many 3DS games on my get list now. Stuff like Persona Q, A Link Between Worlds maybe, random Japanese games with fan translations and then various mid tier games. I'd like to go for a full set of USA region JRPGs, but all the ones I have left have a poor how much I want to play it:cost ratio so that's a pipe dream considering I prioritize my other collections more.
Also unintentionally managed to get a good spread of languages/regions in this pic, with my main USA, the Canadian Style Savvy: Fashion Forward box, one of my Japanese games in Boxboy, a pair of UK games, a couple Italian boxes (though all European carts are the same in most cases) and finally some Korean games.

Thing is with Playasia's Portal listing is that Playasia has put up preorders for physicals that end up never existing, such as Project Diva Mega39s' US/EU listings. Until a publisher gets attached/announced for it, I don't think it's guaranteed, which is why I'm mildly annoyed everyone is taking Playasia's listing as fact. Don't get me wrong though, I'm very much hoping Valve decides to do a physical release through someone.

Also since I've been one of the several who espoused the greatness of Etrian Odyssey, it looks like VGP got their reprint of Etrian Odyssey V. Maybe hold out for a reprint of the others?
-
Wow, how dare you say Radiant Historia is overrated , it's one of my favorites.
Once again, no particular order. Some of these could probably shift with the honorable mentions on a given day.
- Luigi's Mansion 2 - I do think this is mildly overdisliked, but I might be biased since I didn't play the original LM before playing 2 and I personally didn't mind the mission based structure.
- Etrian Odyssey V - To be honest I don't know which of the 4 games I've played I like the most since they're all great, but I'd probably put IV and V a bit above 1U/2U since the formers' subskill systems aren't as painful.
- Fantasy Life
- Radiant Historia (Perfect Chronology)
- Rune Factory 4
- Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (+ Bowser Jr.'s Journey)
- Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX
- Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Never played a AA so can't comment on the court cases (though I feel like I'd probably enjoy the series), but the puzzles are a bit weak. Game makes up it with being super charming/comfy though.
- Bravely Default - The one section is controversial, but I personally didn't mind it (though definitely agree it could have been executed better)
- Stella Glow - Enjoyed this way more than I expected going into it
Honorable mentions:
- Xenoblade Chronicles 3D - One of my favorite games of all time, but probably better off playing it elsewhere
- Tales of the Abyss - Very good plot, just annoyed the pacing falls off a cliff in the 3rd act and there's a ton of important backstory locked behind limited time sidequests.
- Fire Emblem series
- Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon
- Super Mario 3D Land
Also I feel like I'm the exception here with having a DS collection that's smaller than my 3DS collection. Not that I have anything against DS games, I just decided on focusing on one so I can dream of clearing my backlog one day (and also being priced out already lol).

I'm curious(but not enough to do it) what an unmarked rarely used New2DS XL black/turquoise CIB is worth, along with ace combat+, code of princess bundle, kid icarus(complete box/stand), kirby robobot, zelda oot3d, pinball hall of fame, pokemon ultrasun, star fox, mario 3d land, and theaterhythm ffcc would net me in the end if it's worth my bother or just leave it shelved. Whatever it is worth I'd sell it locally probably to that resell shop that would pay 50-60% of its value, again, no ebay.
Assault Horizon Legacy+, Code of Princess, Kid Icarus Uprising and Robobot are all going for a good bit now on ebay (greater than 70). The rest all go for 40 or less. If you're willing to go less than Ebay I might be interested in Code of Princess .
I was gonna post my 3DS list but the site ate it and I'm too lazy to retype up it for now. The TLDR was I'd also agree there's roughly 100 or so good-great 3DS games, though I think concentrated to specific genres unlike the DS. Or maybe I'm biased since I primarily play JRPGs.

For any yokai fans, it looks like the 4th one will be on the switch later this year or 2023
Do you mean Yokai Watch 4? It was released on the Switch ages ago, unless you mean the localization which still hasn't happened yet.

I've always wondered who the people buying stuff like Rhythm Thief for $400 and random mid tier games for $100+ are. Full setters? People who really want to flex their money in stupid ways? I think Rhythm Thief is a pretty good game, but even $70+ would be stretching it.

So looks like the two last two new prints are by Limited Run Games for a game named Go! Go! Kokopolo and its sequel, which were apparently DSiware. I'm somewhat disappointed, mostly because I was hoping for a Harmoknight/Pocket Card Jockey dual pack.

Strategy guide collector's corner
in General Collecting Discussion
Posted
Dang, makes me glad I picked up my copy for around $16 at a secondhand bookstore (then proceeded to forget I owned it when I went to actually play the game). Outside of that, I think I only have a beat up Luigi's Mansion Nintendo Power guide I got super cheap at a library sale ages ago and a Super Mario Odyssey guide I picked up cheap at a random Walmart. I'm not particularly a big guidebook collector, but if my bookstore got the Super Paper Mario and Prima Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon guides in, I'd go for those.
Contrary to some of the replies above, I do find myself using GameFAQs a lot and find it pretty useful. I do play a lot of JRPGs though, which tend to have random obscure stuff going on.
If artbooks are also on topic, I have the Super Mario Odyssey one and the Japanese Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Alrest records, which are both pretty cool.
