Game box [AGB P AZLE / AGB-AZLE-USA] Game cartridge [AGB-AZLE-USA] ROM markings indicate cartridge has ROM revision 0. 4. 25. [0/7] Game & Watch Gallery 4 (GBA, 2002) Annoying that you have to play all the other ones to be able to unlock the Zelda game, but it has a Zelda game on the cartridge, so it counts as a Zelda game in my book. [Missing] Game box [AGB P AQWE / AGB-AQWE-USA(-1?)(-2?)] [Missing] Game cartridge [AGB-AQWE-USA] [Missing] Game manual [AGB-AQWE-USA] [Missing] Nintendo Power subscription leaflet [HW-AGB-USA-2] [Missing] Precautions booklet [DMG-USA-10] [Missing] Cartridge poly bag [Missing] Cartridge tray [AGB(W)]
  5. 24. [6/7] The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons (GBC, 2001) Purchased new in 2001 from Fred Meyer in Orem. The box could use a little ironing, but other than that it's in pretty good condition. Game box [CGB P AZ7E / CGB-AZ7E-USA-1] Game cartridge [CGB-AZ7E-USA] ROM markings indicate cartridge has ROM revision 0. Based on the date codes on the chips, it is likely the cartridge was manufactured in the third quarter of 2001. 6. 23. [6/7] The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (GBC, 2001) Purchased new in 2001 from Fred Meyer in Orem. The box could use a little light restoration work, but it's not really in terrible condition, all told. Game box [CGB P AZ8E / CGB-AZ8E-USA-1] Game cartridge [CGB-AZ8E-USA] ROM markings indicate cartridge has ROM revision 0. Based on the date codes on the chips, it is likely the cartridge was manufactured in the second quarter of 2001. 7. 22. [6/7] The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask [Collector's Edition] (N64, 2000) Purchased used in 2001 from an indie game store in the Provo Town Centre mall in Provo. The box is pretty beat up; one of the fold-in tabs has torn off (however it's still floating around in the box) and another is getting ready to. It's not a lost cause, though. The tabs and some of the de-laminated edges should be repairable with PVA glue and maybe some neutral-pH archival-grade book-binding tape. The box will need to be ironed out, and a lot of the creases may be able to be touched-up with archival ink if I can match the colours. Game box [NUS P NZSE / U/NUS-NZSE-USA] Game cartridge [NUS-F(P?)-NZSE-USA] The lenticular label makes it very difficult to read the small text of the product code. Best guess is that it's an F, but could be a P. ROM markings indicate cartridge has ROM revision 0. Based on the date codes on the chips, it is likely the cartridge was manufactured in the third quarter of 2000. Game manual [U/NUS-NZSE-USA] Nintendo Power subscription leaflet [U/NUS-NZSE-USA] Consumer Information and Precautions booklet [NUS-USA/CAN-1] Manual correction card [U/NUS-NZSE-USA] [Missing] Cartridge poly bag
  8. 21. [4/7] The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX (GB/GBC, 1998) Purchased used on October 15th, 2023 at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo. Did I leave anything out? Get anything incorrect? Let me know! Game box [DMG P AZLE / DMG-AZLE-USA] Game cartridge [DMG-AZLE-USA] ROM markings indicate cartridge has ROM revision 1. Based on the date codes on the chips, it is likely the cartridge was manufactured in the second quarter of 1999. Game manual [DMG-AZLE-USA] [Missing] Nintendo Power subscription leaflet [U/GP-DMG-USA-3] [Missing] Consumer Information and Precautions Booklet [U/DMG-USA-6] [Missing] Cartridge poly bag Cartridge tray [CGB(W)]
  9. 20. [4.5/8] The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time [Collectors Edition] (N64, 1998) Cartridge was purchased used in 2001 from a used game store in the Provo Town Centre mall in Provo. Box, manual, and inserts purchased used on May 11th, 2006 from eBay. The first thing you'll notice is something that I didn't catch at all until just a couple years ago, which is that the box is most definitely not the Collectors Edition box! I love how it took me 15 years to notice that there was a different box for the different editions. Also, I forgot to photograph the cartridge edge connector's removable plastic guide, but it is present. I just didn't feel like getting the game out again and taking it apart just to get a photo of it. [Mismatch] Game box [NUS P NZLE / U/NUS-NZLE-USA] Should be NUS P NZGE / U/NUS-NZGE-USA. Game cartridge [NUS-CZGE-USA] ROM markings indicate cartridge has ROM revision 0. Based on the date codes on the chips, it is likely the cartridge was manufactured in the fourth quarter of 1998. Game manual [U/NUS-NZLE-USA] Nintendo Power subscription leaflet [U/NUS-CZLE-USA] Consumer Information and Precautions Booklet [U/NUS-USA/CAN-1] [Missing] Prima strategy guide 20% off coupon [Missing] Free map poster mail-in insert [Missing] Cartridge poly bag
  10. 19. [0/2] Zelda (Mini Classics) (G&W, 1998) For the sake of completeness. Besides, they're really cute. [Missing] Blister pack [Missing] Game & Watch
  11. 18. [0/3] Zelda's Adventure (CD-i, 1994) I'm not sure if this game included a CD-i registration card as well, as it was not released in North America. [Missing] Jewel case [Missing] Game disc [Missing] Game manual/liner
  12. 17. [100%] Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon (CD-i, 1993) Purchased sealed on November 21st, 2005 from eBay. I'm assuming the seal is legitimate, though I don't have much knowledge about the CD-i. (And were people even resealing games back then? Seems like that's more recent of a thing.) Since I don't have a CD-i, I've never had reason to open it; but if the seal is legitimate, then it's safe to assume all the contents are present. If anyone can verify, that would be helpful! Also, I just noticed a couple typos in the game description on the back of the slipcase: "Link takes off the rescue him" should be "Link takes off to rescue him" "Con- front sword-wielding Stalfos" should be "Confront sword-wielding Stalfos" So that's fun! Sealed game
  13. 16. [0/5] Link: The Faces of Evil (CD-i, 1993) Really wishing I hadn't passed on this one a couple decades ago, as the prices for the CD-i games are insane these days. [Missing] Jewel case slipcase [Missing] Jewel case [Missing] Game disc [Missing] Game manual/liner [Missing] CD-i registration card
  14. 15. [100%] The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (GB, 1993) My childhood copy, purchased new in the spring of 1994 from Toys "R" Us in Tukwilla. I've always taken very good care of this game and kept everything together, as it's one of my all-time favourites and I remember I had to save quite a bit for it on my meagre allowance. When I took these photos, I did notice some minor discolouration on the back of the cartridge, which I don't know how that happened as it's spent the last 15 or so years in the box. I tried cleaning it with some 99% IPA, but no luck. Game box [DMG P ZL / DMG-ZL-USA] Game cartridge [DMG-ZL-USA] ROM markings indicate cartridge has ROM revision 0. Based on the date codes on the chips, it is likely the cartridge was manufactured in the third quarter of 1993. 15. 14. [0/??] The Legend of Zelda: Triforce of the Gods [JPN] (Board Game, 1992) A fan-translated port of this exists for Tabletop Simulator on Steam.
  16. 13. [100%] The Legend of Zelda: Triforce of the Gods [JPN] (BBII, 1992) Purchased sealed on May 14th, 2023 from eBay. This is maybe the weirdest entry in the collection, being a set of cards for the Epoch Barcode Battler II system. About the only thing "Zelda" about it is the artwork on the cards/manual/etc. and some special rules in the manual. But technically it is a game, so it counts for me. (I've also become a little obsessed with the BBII. It's such a bizarre product that I kind of love it.) I took photos of all six sides of the case while it was still sealed, before opening it. I can't imagine there's a lot of sealed copies left out there in the world, so I'm happy to document the seal for anyone to use as reference. Case (sealed) Case liner (interior, showing serial number) Game manual Hero cards Item cards Enemy cards Deck retainer ring Foam card tray
  17. 11. [10/11] The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES, 1992) Purchased used in autumn 1998 from Funcoland in Northgate. It's another box that's been a little worn over the years which I'm planning on doing some restoration work on. A little bit of ironing to restore the box's shape is definitely in order, and I would like to look into colour-matching with archival ink to see if I can fix the creases. Some of the corners have separated, so I'll try rejoining those with PVA glue. For now, though, the game lives in a box protector, so it's not super urgent. The cartridge itself is actually a replacement; in my mid-20s, my ex had the Player's Choice version of the game, and after we split up but before I moved out, she had swapped my cartridge with hers without my knowledge. (And likely without her knowledge, either, to be fair.) Years later, I traded that Player's Choice cartridge for a regular cartridge with an old friend of mine who had it loose and didn't care which revision he had so long as he had a copy of LttP. Did I leave out any components? Get any wrong? Let me know! Game box [SNS P ZL / SNS-ZL-USA] Game cartridge [SNS-ZL-USA] ROM markings indicate cartridge has ROM revision 0. Based on the date codes on the chips, it is likely the cartridge was manufactured in the first quarter of 1992. Game manual [SNS-ZL-USA] Fold-out map [SNS-ZL-USA] Top Secrets / Messages from Sahasrahla leaflet [SNS-ZL-USA] Fold-out SNES poster [GP-SNS-USA-1] [Missing] Nintendo Power subscription leaflet [SNS-ZL-USA] "I brought light to the Dark World!" This one is proving to be really difficult to find individually. If anyone has any leads, please let me know! Consumer Information and Precautions booklet [SNS-USA-2] Cartridge poly bag Cartridge dust cover Cartridge tray
  18. 10. [0/3] The Legend of Zelda Game Watch by Nelsonic (Watch, 1989) I have a feeling it'll be better to get this one sooner rather than later. I'll be satisfied with just one of the four colours that were released. [Missing] Box [Missing] Watch [Missing] Manual
  19. 9. [0/7] Zelda (G&W, 1989) Thinking I should track this down sooner rather than later. I'm not counting the batteries that originally came with it, as those are just about universally missing from all Game & Watches that end up on the market. [Missing] Box [Missing] Game & Watch [ZL-65] [Missing] Manual [Missing] Pink warning card [Multi 82050] [Missing] Battery cover sticker sheet [820906A] [Missing] Game & Watch poly bag [Missing] Styrofoam tray
  20. 8. [8/9] Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES, 1988) Purchased used on October 24th, 2020 from Pink Gorilla (University District) in Seattle. I didn't notice until later that it has the (presumably) original owner's name written on the box and manual. I used 99% IPA and a cotton swab to remove most of it from the box, and I may try some other stuff in the future. Maybe some window cleaner, maybe some Bestine or lighter fluid, maybe even a mild acetone solution if I can't get anything else to work. I'll of course test it out on a repro box first; I actually have a small collection of repro boxes for testing various restoration methods on. For example, I tried the dry erase marker method by drawing on one with some permanent marker, letting it fully set for a few days, and then going over that with dry erase marker and erasing it, but that didn't end up working. (But that method does work brilliantly on NES cartridge labels!) IPA worked pretty well, though, so that was what I ended up using on the real box. If anyone has any tips for the manual, I'm all ears. Also, if you actually recognise this copy and used to own it, tell me! It'd be fun to have that bit of its provenance. Did I leave out any components for my copy's variant? Let me know! Game box [Variant #1] [NES P AL / NES-AL-USA] Game cartridge [Variant #2] [NES-AL-USA] PRG ROM markings indicate cartridge has ROM revision 0. Based on the date codes on the chips, it is likely the cartridge was manufactured in the first quarter of 1989. Game manual [Variant #1] [NES-AL-USA] Fold-out NES poster Based on the probable cartridge manufacture date of Q1 1989, I think it should be the 1988 "shatter" poster, which was used from Summer 1988 to about Fall of 1989. Nintendo Power subscription leaflet [PMG-MW-US] The January/February 1989 issue of Nintendo Power would have already been released by the time my cartridge was manufactured, so I'm guessing that they would have included this insert in this copy. Epilepsy warning leaflet [NES-DOC-USA] [Missing] Cartridge poly bag with hole over grip ridge for exposing the gold plastic through the box's die cut Cartridge sleeve Styrofoam block
  21. 7. [0/15] The Legend of Zelda (Board Game, 1988) Of all the board games, this one should be the easiest to acquire. [Missing] Box [Missing] Tray [Missing] Rule book [Missing] Game board [Missing] Link game piece [Missing] Plastic game piece stand [Missing] Attack dice (x4) [Missing] Numbered die [Missing] Heart chips (x36) [Missing] World 1 tiles (x3) [Missing] World 2 tiles (x4) [Missing] World 3 tiles (x5) [Missing] World 4 tiles (x6) [Missing] World 5 tiles (x7) [Missing] World 6 tiles (x8)
  22. 6. [9/10] The Legend of Zelda (NES, 1987) Purchased used on January 20th, 2005 from eBay. The box does need a little bit of restoration work, mostly for the top flap. I should be able to iron that out, but at present it's being kept in a box protector, so at least it shouldn't get worse until I can get around to doing that. Did I leave out any components for my copy's variant? Let me know! Game box [Variant #6] [NES P ZL / NES-ZL-USA] Game cartridge [Variant #7] [NES-ZL-USA] PRG ROM markings indicate cartridge has ROM revision 1. Based on the date codes on the chips, it is likely the cartridge was manufactured in the second quarter of 1988. Game manual [Variant #5] [NES-ZL-USA-1] Maps and Strategies fold-out Fold-out NES poster Nintendo Fun Club insert [REV-1] Rear projection TV warning insert [NES-USA] [Missing] Cartridge poly bag with hole over grip ridge for exposing the gold plastic through the box's die cut Cartridge sleeve Styrofoam block
  23. 4. [0/8] The Legend of Zelda 2: Link no Bouken [JPN] (FDS, 1987) I mean, I might as well. Am I missing anything? Did I get anything wrong? Let me know! [Missing] Plastic tuck-top box [FMC-LNK / T4902425 10413 3 or T4902370500448] I've seen two variations of barcodes, and I'm unsure what the difference is. [Missing] Hard plastic disk case [Missing] Disk liner [FMC-LNK] [Missing] Disk sleeve [Missing] Game disk [FMC-LNK] [Missing] Game manual [FMC-LNK / T4902370500462] [Missing] Lavender disk operation and precautions insert [FMC-860916 / 870227] This appears to be a slightly different version of this insert compared to the one included with Zelda 1. That one was printed only on one side. This one is identical to that, but the back side has information about AC adapters. [Missing] Green Nintendo telephone service information insert [FMC-LNK-860630(?)] I'm guessing at the inclusion of this. There's very few unboxing videos of this game, and neither of the ones I could find included it. However, it doesn't make sense to me that Nintendo would not include it, as it lists all the phone numbers for customer service, technical support, repairs, etc. I'm also guessing on the part number.
  24. 2. [0/15] The Hyrule Fantasy: Zelda no Densetsu [JPN] (Board Game, 1986) Because of the price and difficulty of finding a good complete copy, this one could end up being the game that completes my collection. [Missing] Box [Missing] Tray [Missing] Rule book [Missing] Plastic Link figures (x4) [Missing] Dice (x2) [Missing] Overworld map [Missing] Sub-boards (x4) [Missing] Labyrinth cards (x8) [Missing] Showdown cards (x23) [Missing] Money Making Game cards (x8) [Missing] Item chips (x36) [Missing] Rupee chips (x12) [Missing] Heart chips (x30) [Missing] Triforce pieces (x32) [Missing] Ganon token
  25. 1. [0/8] The Hyrule Fantasy: Zelda no Densetsu [JPN] (FDS, 1986) The Famicom Disk System version is the very first Zelda game, and so belongs in my collection despite later being released in America for the NES. I believe the following is what I'll need to have it 100% CIB. Am I missing anything? Are there any known variations? (Other than the yellow vs. white FDS logo.) Let me know! [Missing] Plastic tuck-top box [FMC-ZEL / T4902370500110] [Missing] Hard plastic disk case [Missing] Disk liner [FMC-ZEL] [Missing] Disk sleeve [Missing] Game disk [Missing] Game manual [FMC-ZEL / T4902370500394] [Missing] Lavender disk operation and precautions insert [FMC-860916] [Missing] Green Nintendo telephone service information insert [FMC-ZEL-860630]
